kim thought of the boy she met in kindergarten. how her first comment was that he was weird but she liked him. he may have been a bit goofy looking but kim never thought of it like that. no, she thought it was cute. she though that he was cute. it was worse now. worse in the sense that she couldn’t deny there was a small flutter inside of kim whenever ron smiled at her. or when he looked at her as if she were the only person in the room despite there being dozens of other beautiful people around. kim flushed at his question and pretended to squint at the sun as if her reddened cheeks were from the heat of the day. “you’ve always been the good lookin’ part of our duo. why do you think i keep you around?” the girl teased, giving him a classic side smirk. “a great glow up but you’ve always been handsome ron. its just now that people are starting to notice it.” kim looked down, smiling to herself. “i’ve always known.”

“have you had the strawberry cake ones at those new fancy bakeries? that like specialize in donuts. oh they’re so good!” kim held a hand over her stomach and moaned at the thought of specialty donuts. “i really have been hanging out with ron too much.” the girl smiled, “a high kick is very much appreciated. also splits? like who knows when i need to pull those out but it’s bound to happen! how are you? where do you work again?”

The world certainly had been changing from when he was a kid but for the most part, he was okay with it. “That probably won’t help your case of minimizing the propaganda against cops.” John replied, laughing just a little. 

Kim hadn’t thought about the gluten free option. Most gluten free foods wound up tasting like chalk to her. It was as if she had ultra carb taste buds. “Right. Theres a lot of propaganda against us. With good reason, I suppose. But, best way to fix the problem is from the inside.” Kim said proudly. And that’s just what she was prepared to do. Fix things from the inside. “Are you gettin’ some donuts too?”

Honey was never one to follow stereotypes, especially when it came to the police. But even she couldn’t help but laugh at the comment about salads, her nose wrinkling in delight as she looked over to the woman in uniform, nodding excitedly. “Oh I love donuts. I can’t even pretend to eat salads, though. My diet is as unhealthy as they can get.”

Kim laughed in response to Honey’s nose wrinkling, “I used to be a big health nut. I only ate salads and watched my weight but then college happened. Chipotle was just too good to pass up.” The girl smiled, “I should probably get back to being healthy but carbs are just too good. Besides, I work out enough.”

“It’s a great show. You know, you look sorta like the actress on it. Except, I think you’re more beautiful.” Kim complimented Belle. The woman was like royalty to the younger brunette. She didn’t know where her admiration of Belle had come from but she knew it wasn’t going away anytime soon. “Apparently there are a select few.”

“W e i r d…” Milo mumbled, completely perplexed. “Well, if you ever need, like, a human trash can for all of your extra donuts, I would be happy to apply. You’d think teachers would be offered some more, but you’d be wrong!” Milo grumbled, only slightly jealous that Kim had better access to carbs than he did. “In all honesty, I don’t think I’d be able to be friends with someone who doesn’t like them. Or at the very least, have a serious sit-down conversation as to why they do-nut enjoy happiness in the form of friend dough.”

“I think if I replaced Ron with another human trash can he would be very upset but he doesn’t have to know.” Kim teased with a small smile. She would tell Ron anyway. She told him everything. There was nothing that her best friend didn’t know but it was still fun to play around. Kim snorted at the pun and clapped her hands at the others effort to keep such a serious topic lighthearted. The girl practically rolled her eyes at herself. “I just don’t get how you could trust a person who says they don’t like sugar!”

“don’t forget my chicken piccata. you have to admit that it’s pretty damn good.” kim brushed her shoulder with one hand and gave a little giggle. she definitely wasn’t a cook by any means but she tried. just like with everything else, she tried. to others, she seemed perfect at it all, but she knew the truth. she was gripping at straws with everything she tried. with ron she didn’t have to worry about all that. she didn’t have to worry about her imperfection because he accepted her no matter what. “i thought it was just common curtesy to ask.” she giggled as he began pulling out an apron. when she saw what was on it, though, the giggles turned into full on laughter. her body shook from the force and she had to wipe at her eyes before she could grab the apron. “you never told me that you got this jacked. i’ll have to get you shirtless sometime soon in order to cross reference.” her cheeks flamed when she realized how her words might have sounded. “how do i look?” kim asked, giving a twirl with the apron on.

Pumpkin Pie milkshakes did sound pretty enticing. “Okay, but have you tried the red velvet sugar cookie milkshake?” He offered, tilting his head. Christmas time couldn’t come fast enough. “Now that is something to sacrifice your preferred means of dessert over.”

“There’s a what?!” Kim’s eyes went wide. She wasn’t supposed to be this into junk food but college had changed her. She deserved to splurge every so often. “Where do they sell that sort of stuff? I have to try one.”

Wow,” Milo mouthed, dumbfound and eyes wide. “You learn something new every day,” And Milo loved that. Hence his excitement over the littlest, most insignificant of factoids. “Who doesn’t like donuts? Other than people with gluten allergies, of course. Obviously. But, I wanna have a word with the person who can eat donuts who doesn’t like ‘em.”

“Apparently it’s an actual stereotype! I mean, I appreciate all the donuts I’ve wound up receiving but eventually enough will be enough.” Kim laughed. “You have a word with them and I’ll get the machine that tells us just what’s wrong with them. I mean, who doesn’t like donuts? It’s just unfathomable.”

He glanced at the woman beside him and shrugged his shoulders. “Can’t say I’m much into sweets, really.” In his own uniform, Berlioz couldn’t imagine they’d have let him get away with eating donuts for ROTC summer program, it’s where the youngest Bonfamille had been for about a month, but he shrugged his shoulders. “But if you catch me on a good day, I’m all about a milkshake.”

“They’re not for everyone.” Except that was a damn lie. Kim couldn’t fathom someone not being into sweets. The greatest thing in life was a good sweet and salty combo. Who only liked the salty? But she wasn’t about to be a straight up asshole to Berlioz. “Milkshakes are pretty great. I love the pumpkin pie ones you can only get during fall. I’ll have one a day if I’m feeling frisky.”

kim didn’t know where the stereotype came from but she hated to admit that it was true. cops did love donuts but most people love donuts. why wouldn’t they? “where do most stereotypes come from? assholes who have a hidden agenda.” kim smiled and gave a little sway of her hips, “it’s actually super comfortable. a lot of room to breathe. and i can do a high kick like no ones business.”

Kim thought about the others question for a moment. “People who are allergic to gluten, I guess.” The girl had always been one to talk out loud without thinking. Sometimes it led to trouble but otherwise she hadn’t learned from it just yet. “Is it wrong of me to order a dozen knowing I’ll finish it by the end of the week?”

I don’t even try to lie to myself anymore– during the semester, I practically have the diet of a teenage boy,” Gogo laughed. “I’m more of a muffin girl myself, but I won’t say no to a doughnut,” she replied with a grin. “So you get a badge and everything? That seems so official. You’re not going to turn into a square now, are you?”

“I really should be doing better. In High School I was so healthy but then college happened and it all went to shit.” Kim admitted with a laugh. She could have blamed Ron for it but, really, it was just her becoming lazy and focusing more on her classes than her eating habits. “Not at all. I’m not official or anything. I mean, I’m sure its not even legal to have me flashing my badge, but I’ve been trying to help out as much as I can. I’m hoping to fully join the force by the end of the year. I’ve found that I have a very big need to serve out justice.”
