maybe we’ll come across each other at the turning of the century, racing across the breaches between worlds. i’ll build my life on that maybe. (insp) (x)

Sherlock And Love
Series 1
“We’ve got ourselves a serial killer. I love those.” (ASiP)
“I love the brilliant ones.” (ASiP)
“Love is a much more vicious motivator.” (ASiP)
“This is beautiful. I love this.” (TGG)
Series 2
“I imagine John Watson thinks love is a mystery to me but the chemistry is incredibly simple, and very destructive.” (ASiB)
“I’ve always assumed that love is a dangerous disadvantage.” (ASiB)
Series 3
“All emotion, and in particular love, stand opposed to the pure cold reason I hold above all things.” (TSoT)
“The two people who love you most in all this world.” (TSoT)
“I love dancing. I’ve always love it.” (TSoT)
“Like I said - human error.” (HLV)
Series 4
“I love you.”
This is Sherlock talking about love, from the beginning to the S4 trailer. These quotes perfectly reflect his journey so far.
In series 1 he applies the word love either to his work - serial killers, brilliant criminals, clever plots like the lost Vermeer - or talks about it in a negative or derisive manner. To him, the love for the work is good even if some people may find his preferences morally dubious, while he despises or questions love as an emotion directed at other people.
In series 2 he applies the word not just to his work anymore but to emotions directed at other people although he still refuses to give in to such feelings and holds on to his brother’s ideas about caring not being an advantage. In the first quote, however, he mentions John which - as has been discussed in detail more than once - does only make sense as long as he subconsciously associates John Watson with love.
In series 3 Sherlock admits for the first time that he loves another human being. Sure, it is indirect, him talking about John, not to him, but as we all know for him it has been an enormous step forward. He publicly admits that he is able and willing to feel love for another human being.
The first quote is nothing more than a recourse to his old convictions and serves as a contrast to the confession that follows.
The quote about dancing is interesting as well because so far his love for things other than human beings has been directed at crimes and serial killers, to matters connected to his work. Now, for the first time, Sherlock confesses loving something just for its beauty and elegance, for its own sake.
The last quote from HLV - well, another recourse but this is about Janine who he does not love and who does not really love him back. And it is a Canon nod so I think it does not reflect his true feelings about love as such. Sherlock is inexperienced where love for another human being is concerned and his love is directed at John and John alone. There is no place for Janine.
Series 4
True, we have no idea if this is MP, if Sherlock is forced to say it, if it is directed at both John and Mycroft, if he quotes someone else, if this is a sudden realisation - but in the end it does not matter. He says “I love you”, something he has never said to anyone before, something Canon Holmes has never said to my knowledge. Whatever the context, this is big. Look at the long way Sherlock had to go to arrive at these three simple words. A story about a detective, not a detective story. From great man to good man. Snowcapped mountain and volcano. Insane wish fulfillment.
Amazing.
Does Sherlock have to Rebuild His Mind Palace?
This shot above made a lot of people speculate, if this was the Holmes’ family House, where Mycroft and Sherlock grew up (not the house, where their parents live now). @welovethebeekeeper also suggested that Sherrinford might actually be the name of said family House.
I assume that burning down the house is the endpoint of a long process. We know that their will be flashbacks to Sherlock’s childhood. And I think, there’s a consensus that “The Final Problem” for Sherlock is to figure out who he truely is, where he came from, who he wants to be and how he wants to include other people in his life, and especially which role John will play in his life.
So I was wondering, if Sherlock might have built part of his mind palace based on his family house. Because for building a mind palace it is best to choose places, buidlings you know for the basic construction. If he started building his mind palace as a child or teenager, building his mind palace as his family house would be the most logical thing to do.
But obviously there are things in his past, Sherlock needs to work through and then get rid off (hence burning down the house). So does this mean, he will destroy these parts in his mind palace as well? And has to start to rebuild parts of his mind palace?
Does he need a blank canvas for this? Like an almost empty room, built out of concret without any doors, windows or electricity?
Like this:
(maybe this is the kitchen table of the mp!family house as the last thing he didn’t destroy)
It’s not a game anymore - but it’s not real either
Please look at the official promo pics:
And then look at this still for example:
You see the difference?
I’d say the first three dark pics are not real. They look like paintings, something from a fairytale or nightmare. But they are subtly altered, distorted.
Why? What could it mean…?

Things other than the actual content of the show that make no sense outside of tjlc
• Mark and Steven saying that TPLoSH is both their favorite movie and that it’s one of their biggest inspirations for BBC Sherlock. • Mark and Steven being as excited as they were for the waterfall scene. • The fact that Mark and Steven have explicitly said they lie about major plot points, when all they’ve really talked about is not doing johnlock and the baby. • The LGB surveys BBC put out right before making Sherlock. • Everyone on the show and the commissioners really, really liked the pilot, and only remade it so it would be longer and more polished. • The writers going on and on about LGBT representation, proving that queerbaiting is not an option for this show. • Amanda accidentally saying that they’re bringing a “hus- wife for sher- john” (damn she did that) • Arwel posting elephants nonstop when they clearly know that we know what the elephants mean, so either they’re queerbaiting (which they aren’t) or they’re planning to address the elephant in the room • “love conquers all”
John is Infertile and Knows it: A Crack Meta
So a lot has been going on lately with the Baby Watson drama. But we know John having a baby isn’t in the books and neither is him settling down for long with a wife. So how is BBC Sherlock going to walk clear of this one? Well, they introduced David, Mary’s ex, the fact Sherlock can tell a baby’s real father just by looking at them, and also how Mary is a liar and a “cat lover” – “cats” always standing for red herrings in every ***single*** mention on this damn television show. So really, this baby isn’t sticking around. Because John isn’t the father. Not only is he a million years old, he’s been coded as infertile since they introduced Mary.
A symbol of fertility often found at weddings is the rose petal. Most often red would be the color used to promote fertility, while white is a symbol of purity. White is the color of John’s rose. Now look at this still photograph. The confetti/petals are spilling from John’s white flower and spraying everyone but him. John’s petals look like they’re exploding all over that priest and the priest is just dancing in the onslaught. John’s pure “flower” cascading to pieces. Wilting. Breaking apart symbolically.
And this is the face of a man who did NOT think it was possible he would get a woman pregnant by accident.
Earlier we even saw this plastered on his face:
Yeah, that’s the name of the person who got pregnant via third-party intervention. She was pure, she did not conceive a child through sex. She needed that divine spark.
The idea of a sterile military man was written back in The Blind Banker. @adoroslashare brought this to my attention months ago:
“’Combat made me sterile’ Claims Army Major” – for those of us who can’t see for shit. Random line? Just coincidence? Maybe. But John’s an army man and they love their mirrors, so, let’s not count it out.
Next up is the Mayfly Man. We all have read the metas by now equating that Mayfly Man and the locked-room mystery to John’s infiltration of Sherlock’s heart – but what about the actual flat? What did we find when Sherlock was clueing for looks?
Wood and egg. The two things it takes to make a baby.
But what else was right beside them?
The biggest symbol for male virility in Western culture. Notice how it’s fucking DEAD.
Kind of reminds you of this guy:
Oh, you know, just the symbol for male virility dead on the wall hanging there every day. That room most often associated with John.
How about another symbol of sexual appetite? Of male orgasm? Of fertility?
Champagne.
Doesn’t take a consulting detective to see how Champagne associates with male virility. Fucking James Bond practically swims in it.
What the fuck – Billy Wilder showed up in this champagne research???
What the fuck?? How the fuck did this accidentally turn into a gay meta?? Why is Billy Wilder everywhere?!?! What is going on?? I feel more confused than Will Ferrell on SNL’s Celebrity Jeopardy.
^^^^^^^^ Actual photos of me right now.
Billy Wilder’s accidental interference aside, John knows its possible he’s not the father of that baby. However, he won’t know for sure until she’s born and she can be tested. Perhaps a miracle has occurred. Until then he waits nervously to see the fate of his “new family”.
Random headcanon
When Joker is in a bad mood, Harley will try to make him feel better and if that doesn’t work she’ll just leave him alone and go do something she enjoys.
This is a very calculated tactic as she knows he’ll slowly inch his way closer and closer to her until he’s inevitably laying with his head in her lap asking her what movie she’s watching (and stealing half of her popcorn and candy)
