NEWTON’S THIRD LAW

there are moments in our lives that act as axis points. i think that being allowed to touch you was one of them, and that it was a sort of forgiveness. 

now, i can’t even remember it exactly as it happened, it’s faded, blurry and i’m still terrified. i want to spend  my whole life trying to get back to those moments and i want this to be an okay thing to do. 

i’m leaving soon. i know this, we all do. i don’t want to hurt anyone, which was inevitable. we just ignored it, doggedly refusing to look skyward. 

when i think of us, i think of something ancient and  bigger than oceans, or a three-headed beast, bowing gently into the night.

I just heard this woman say “you procrastinate because you are afraid of rejection. It’s a defense mechanism, you are trying to protect yourself without even trying.” and I think I just realized what was wrong with me.

Yep, this is a very, very common reason for procrastinating.  It’s also why procrastination, even though it’s often associated with laziness, is a fairly common trait in a lot of people with anxiety and perfectionism issues.

Also, from a bahavioural perspective, you “learn” to procrastinate. When you feel worried or anxious about something you have to do and then you procrastinate, the first thing you feel is relief. This is negative reinforcement and it takes time to “unlearn” procrastinating, because for a lots of things you don’t get rewards right away.
