Sheesh. Someone was bossy. Suddenly Veigue reminded him of a certain banshee. “Just a few minutes. You in a rush?”
"No." Veigue shook his head. "... I just get a bit restless." Was that so strange?

“In what sense?”
"Relaxing. --I'd rather not stay put for too long."

“What a relief. My feet have been killing me.”
"Right..."
-Later, during said break-
"... so how long do you plan on being here, anyway?"

“We’ve been moving for hours now. Can’t we have a little break?”
"... sure. I think I see a clearing up ahead."

“Feeling out of place? That might be why you’re so jumpy.”
“And don’t apologize. It’s not a big deal.”
"I guess that could be it." He shrugged. "Let's just keep moving."

“I don’t blame you, though. Monsters do like to congregate where people haven’t formed settlements. The denser the woods, the more likely we’ll run into some trouble. Let’s keep our eyes open.”
"Mm... true enough." Veigue agreed, though perhaps he was still a bit too anxious. Surely he should be able to tell the difference between a squirrel and monster roaming nearby. "Still... sorry about that."

Zelos snorted and continued onward without a care in the world. If he jumped at every little thing, he’d die of stress.
“Yeah, I did. Little furry woodland creatures. How scary is that?”
He snickered when a squirrel poked its head out from the bushes and then dove back in.
Oh. Was that all it was? Veigue wondered, but... maybe he was just being too jumpy, after all.
"My mistake..." He muttered, reluctantly letting himself relax again. Welp, that was embarrassing.

And so they inevitably fell into silence once more. Zelos liked to blame that on Veigue’s own unwillingness to share things about himself. Not that he was all that curious. He didn’t feel like prompting the guy with a barrage of questions. Conversations like that were the worst. Which, if you thought about it, was funny coming from a guy like him who played up his own ego.
He didn’t think that Veigue would be the first to break the silence, but Zelos would let it go on for as long as he could.
There was some slight surprise on Veigue's part, when the silence lingered. Mostly because he had already pegged Zelos as something of a loudmouth. But... he couldn't complain. If anything, he felt more at ease this way.
But, it couldn't last forever.
The sound of something moving nearby was brief, but it was enough to bring Veigue to an abrupt stop. Already, a hand was over his shoulder, grasping at his weapon.
"...did you hear something?"

When Zelos realized that no attention had been paid to his melodramatic outburst, he brushed it off with a sigh and followed after Veigue. This guy. Where was he supposed to find entertainment when he barely got a rise?
“Don’t worry, man. Even if you ignore me, I won’t take offense. It’s not like you hurt my feelings or anything.” A disastrous attempt at passive-aggressiveness, lovely.
The silence from Veigue continued just a bit longer, enough to briefly consider what Zelos said. Had he managed to strike a nerve? Well there was something he hadn't counted on happening again so soon.
"Good. I wouldn't want to." He really didn't have anything else to say on the matter. At least not for the moment.

Ouch, burn. Zelos threw a hand over his chest and let out a dramatic sigh. Then he threw his head back for the utmost effect. “Bud! You’re so cruel.”
He was being ridiculous.
"..." Veigue glanced back, lifting a brow. He really was something else, wasn't he?
Not a word, though. He just kept on walking, expecting the redhead would catch up soon enough.

It was pretty awful. Which was why Zelos vowed never to use it every again. At least, until Veigue came up with that quip. Oh, now it was on.
“You’re joking, right? ‘Zee-Zee’? That doesn’t even capture an ounce of my awesome.” In other words, he wasn’t overly fond of this new nickname. Hopefully it wouldn’t stick.
"That would be true, if you were awesome to begin with." Veigue shrugged. He had no intention of using that nickname, since it really was pretty terrible. Still, who couldn't resist saying something?
With that, he tugged the fabric of his shirt back into place, and stepped forward. No use in lingering out in the middle of nowhere, quibbling over nicknames.

“If I told you that then you’d know how many there are of us and that’s no fun. You’ll have to find out when mom’s pregnant.”
"O-oh... I see..." This was just getting more and more awkward. "I'll uhm... just wait for the surprise, then."
vigilanteschild started following you
“I guess.”
"..." Veigue let out a quiet sigh. "What are the names of your other siblings?"
vigilanteschild started following you
“But mom said it was your turn to think of a name?”
"Then... wouldn't my future self be the one to ask?"
vigilanteschild started following you
“So what would you name the baby if it’s a girl?”
Veigue blinked at the question, thinking about it. Eventually, though, he shook his head. "I don't know.."
vigilanteschild started following you
“You sure dad? Oh yeah do you think the new baby will be a girl. I really want a new sister”
"I... really don't know. You'll just have to find out, I guess..."
vigilanteschild started following you
“You sure? I know you explained it to me it was nothing. I just wonder was it really nothing it was really noisy.”
"No, I was probably right." Veigue shook his head. "Mostly likely nothing at all."
