caregiver who knows you want to help during the chaos so they give you simple jobs, like hold the light or go grab this tool, and each time you do they praise you so sweetly.

caregiver who makes sure you have the space to drop as small as you need, being right there for you while they handle everything else. simply kissing your forehead anytime your brows furrow in concern. right now you’re too little to be worrying about these things, so let them handle it.

Kiddo who struggles with words when regressed, who can make small sounds but not enough to form actual words. The occasional “ba!” Or “my!!” But nothing too articulate.

Kiddo who points to what they want, tugging on their carers sleeve to get their attention and babbling.

"i didn't want you to leave.. you shouldn't have to deal with all of this, I'm sorry!"

the carer shushes them gently, pulling them close. "oh baby, this isn't temporary. you're my kid. this is forever - anything you need, I'm here. I've got you now, baby. you're never gonna be alone again."
