reminder that you wasted your precious years as a young, high-octane activist arguing about cartoons and youre never gonna get it back
It's my 12 year anniversary on Tumblr. i'm gonna jump.
i should draw mad mew mew with fat thighs
i think we are long overdue for a game that does the reverse of 90s first person shooters and actively makes fun of the player for picking the hard difficulty
heres kinda what i mean
quick whatās ur opinion on tea. everyone who sees this is obligated to answer in some way
I can be the ship and its sailors
iām very self aware. which unfortunately hasnāt solved anything
i wish there was more it/its positivity that wasn't just "hell yeah look at you go funky little goblins/otherwordly beings/freaks/objects"
this is really important actually i wanted to link one of my fav tweets on this subject :>
when i was a kid i was so mad all the time bc i thought someday i'd have to be somebody's wife i didn't know it was optional. is everybody reminding the young girls in their lives that it's optional.
AND SO IS BEING SOMEBODY'S MOTHERā¼ļø
it is about being a woman. hope that helps!
reading comprehension questions for the notes:
is wanting to be a wife and mother a requirement for being a woman?
why might OP be annoyed with replies assuming that this post is about being aroace or transmasc if a woman doesnāt want to be a wife or mother?
are there reasons unrelated to sexuality and romantic interest that might make a woman not want to be a wife or mother?
are there reasons unrelated to gender identity and expression that might make a woman not want to be a wife and mother?
core concept: what is gender essentialism?
is it gender essentialism to imply that all women inherently want to be wives and mothers? could this be what OP is critiquing?
look at the notes OP responds to. is it gender essentialism to imply that being a wife and mother is so affixed to womanhood that to not want to be those things means youāre incapable of sexual/romantic feelings, or not a woman?
what trait are you perpetuating when you assume that women who do not want to be wives and mothers must be aroace or trans? is it gender essentialism?
For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.
According to a federal lawsuit by the ACLU, Tennessee's new congressional map is discriminatory and violates Black Memphians' First Amendmen
adult life is truly just thinking āI NEED TO CLEANā while dealing with the 17 other things that have a hard deadline
love how when people go to europe they'll say the country and when people go to the usa they'll say the state and when people go to asia they'll say the country and when people go to south america they'll say the country but when people go to africa they go to africa. like ok bru. wow. the entire thing? impressive
"when my dad was in spain last summer..." ok "when i was backpacking around thailand..." cool "back when i visited florida...'" nice "my sister's in africa right now--" BROTHER WHERE
My favorite thing about this topic as an African is when people ask me where Iām from and I say Iām from Cape Verde (then I usually have to explain that itās an archipelago near the Senegalese coasts) and then they answer with something along the lines of "omg my cousin did a road trip in Kenya!" And I just have to stand there are try to explain to them that the distance between CV and Kenya is around the distance between the USA and Bolivia or Pakistan and f#%! France. Westerners just know nothing about African geography and/or cultures and it often leads to awkward or racist situations.
