Frankly, I once held the belief that the Shen Qingqiu of The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System in a certain illustration drawn by Velinxi which I saw on the SVSSS fanwiki was some sort of giant caterpillar. He was... green. In a literal sense, it is apparent that I had mistaken. But in the metaphorical sense, it rather suits both Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan. Canonically (or not-so-canonically in respect to draft-PIDW), both of them had undergone... metamorphosis, at some point. A stunning transformation.

Only, Shen Yuan had been super extra mega ultra literal about it; His lights went out as a heteronormative modern man who obsessively hate-reads one (1) webnovel 24/7 and then he gets forcefully injected into a relatively powerful body that looks like mega twink and also happens to belong to what is basically a school principal; a body that previously belonged to a terrible man with a nasty reputation, one zillion traumatic disorders, misandry, and paranoia.

And Shen Jiu, he was an abused slave once, and then a glorious(?) Peak Lord in the very next blink of an eye... have to mention that he had his Peak Lord name saddled with the lone hanzi (Chinese character) he abhors. This thing about the rapid, dizzying change of identity... yep, they are absolutely caterpillars. Ugly, fuzzy, chonky, green caterpillars.
