The Brighton Fringe interview
Hey how's it going, all set for the the fringe?
There will be a last minute dash to poundland for props, but yeah. All good to go.
What does it mean for you to be able to perform at the fringe?
Everything. Life and death. If I’m not funny, people will die ffs…Brighton is lovely and I’m glad to cuddle up to it’s cultural bosom.
Tell me a little bit about your show, what can we expect?
Wigs. Biscuits. Crayons. Kinder Eggs. Tight trousers. The odd joke.
What have been the biggest challenges you've had with your show?
Hygiene.
What was it about performing that interested you so much?
It’s a much more positive way to deal with my fleeting existence than self harming.
Do you remember the first show was like, was it a steep learning curve?
I knew everyone in the audience. Terrifying. I learned not to invite people I know.
Have you always had a love for performing?
Monkey on my left shoulder: Don’t say 'Yes I was born for the stage etc.’. People will be turned away by your vanity.
Monkey on my right shoulder: But if you don’t say ‘Yes’, people will think your not a natural performer.
Me: COOL. Talking Monkeys...You guys are deffo going into the show.
What was your first show like was the audience polite?
Yes. So polite they followed me back to my flat and drank my booze.
Best 5 words to describe your show?
ABSURDLY TIGHT RUNNING TROUSER YEAH!
What advice would you give a fellow performers?
“There’s always Self-Harming”
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
It’s a tie between Ghandi and the Cookie Monster.
And finally, what do you hope people will take away from your show?
Biscuits.
