It wasn’t the first time it had happened, and she knew it wouldn’t be the last. But a girl could dream right? As she picked up the trampled stems, murmuring about how they deserved better and that she would save them if she could.
She was furious, damage was just a casualty of the world she lived in, but fuck, it took so damn long to get any funds from the city, so she often had to fix things herself. Which, admittedly, she had gotten better at carpentry, and often used her power on as many plants as she could.
But this time was different, as she was sweeping up broken glass from her front window, a person approached. Fingers gripped the broom tensely as she narrowed her eyes. “We’re closed.” A terse greeting, missing her customary smile.
That should have been the end of it. Most people would have moved on. But this one climbed through the window, what good was a door when it was banged to shit? “I thought you could use help.”
The voice caught her off guard, she had turned her back to grab the dustpan. Spinning around, her red hair hitting her in the face, her mouth in an O shape, she stammered for a moment, trying to get the words. Had anybody ever offered to help before? Not that she could remember.
Taking a quick glance over him, noting the defining features, adding it to her ever growing list of people, she gave one quick shake of her head and handed him the broom. “Sweep then.” She could have been more grateful, even kind. But she had been growing more timid in reaching out to people, not sure who she could trust.
Picking up a bundle of daisies, slightly wilted but not. Beyond saving, she ran her fingers over the petals, humming lightly, bringing them back to their perky status before popping them in aa bucket of water, among the other flowers she had already revived.
He hadn’t moved, she could feel his eyes on her, curiosity piqued. “I don’t hear the glass getting cleaned.” The tinkling sound started then, and she smiled to herself. “I… thank you.” The words were quiet as she glanced over her shoulder, eyes narrowing for a split second at the prosthetic leg – she missed that the first time. “Nobody’s offered to help before.”
It was a sad admission, even her brother hadn’t offered more than twice, telling her ‘that’s the way of the world Dellie’ like it was supposed to make her feel better. “I’m Delilah.” She righted a display table and dusted her hands on her jeans, looking at him to make the necessary introductions.
“Basile.” He was quiet, but she shouldn’t have been surprised by that, as he kept his head down, focusing on the task she had delegated to him.
“Like the plant?” She couldn’t help it, as the giggle she was trying to smother showed. “Well, it’s nice to meet you Basile – not the plant.”

favorite plots: all the angst? Problematic people, lots of drama. Sometimes fluffy love. Broships. I really want a good hateship. But like. all the plots.
character ideas: Well, I’ve got Eugene who’s kind of the town crazy and will booby trap everywhere possible who also owns a horse that gets into mischief. Theo who’s my sweet fluff has had a problematic past, but is all good now and is a chef and has a happy family and is literally the quite opposite of his !notwife. And then there’s Geoff who’s literally an asshole with feelings and I have no idea what he’s going to do yet. There’s also another idea stewing but that one will have to be a surprise
favorite twin peaks character: I seriously need to start this show. But if theres a smart ass probably that one
