- I have implemented omegaverse into my lifestyle for a long time, since I was a pre-teen. finding the miscecanis community made me feel so incredibly seen and I’m very grateful for the experience I’ve had there. however, I have a lot of current anxiety posting about my experiences with it and for the sake of avoiding any harm to anyone and myself, I’m coining cirnatura for myself and some friends. I don’t expect it will pick up like miscecanis has as a term but that’s okay, I want to make it clear this doesn’t exist to replace/recoin or stand against miscecanis in any way. I wish no ill-will to the coiner.

- anyone in the world is welcome to use cirnatura. you can be a miscecanid and also use cirnatura if you want. I don’t want my own ideologies attached to my terms and you are welcome to disagree with me on discourse and still use them. people could be cirnatura for any reason, alterhumanity plurality neurodivergency or just because whaaatever the world is your oyster

- you are also welcome to coin and make flags for cirnatura! would love to see it!!!

- omegaverse has lots of different interpretations for different people. I won’t be outlining specific definitions for alpha, beta, omega, etc as these can vary slightly from person to person. you’re welcome to ask about my own experience with it though!

Description

Panoptigenic systems were formed either partially or completely due to experiences like surveillance, a lack of privacy, or the fear of being watched. It is an adaptive (and more often than not, traumagenic) origin.

Some examples of these experiences may include:

Being stalked.

Needing to stay closeted, or the fear of being outed.

Growing up with "helicopter" or strict parents, especially if they monitor your activity online.

Having your personal space, boundaries, or privacy violated (physically or emotionally).

Using — especially growing up on — the Internet; issues relating to cybersecurity in the age of things like generative AI and age verification laws.

A fear, phobia, or delusion that someone is monitoring you, including as a result of schizospec conditions.

Being told that your abuser, or a higher being, knows what you're doing/thinking at all times.

Religious trauma relating to deities being omniscient (all-knowing).

Government-based surveillance in countries under oppressive regimes.

Some members of panoptigenic systems may do everything in their power to give themselves or others in the system privacy, while others might give up on the idea entirely because it seems impossible to achieve. Within the system, there may be an unusually heavy focus on keeping secrets from outsiders. The system may come off as aloof, secretive, or withdrawn.

Related terms:

Faucets can stop the system revealing personal/sensitive information to outsiders.

Masked systems are covert, or trying to make themselves such.

Phobiogenic refers to systems formed by phobias, which could include those related to being watched.

Etymology + pronunciation

pan like "panel", op like "optical", ti like "tickle", jehn like "Jennie", ik like the end of "Rubik".

Based on the concept of the Panopticon (Greek pân, meaning "all", and optikós, meaning "visible"), a particular design for prisons so that its guards could observe the prisoners at all times + the suffix "-genic", used to describe the cause or origin of something.

Flag

All blues: Knowledge; the varying shades of light and dark represent access to knowledge (such as that about the system) and lack thereof, respectively. Yellow: Resembles a spotlight shining onto someone; references the yellow on hazard signs, symbolising alertness and vigilance.

Circles/curved designs: Alludes to the Panopticon's intended layout, with the person at the centre having a full 360˚ view of the prisoners. Yellow circle+triangle thing: Looks like a spotlight beam, pointing down at the person being watched. Also resembles a keyhole, referencing the theme of security (or lack thereof), or an anonymous profile picture (alluding to the Internet/cybersecurity). Dark 4-pointed star: In the first flag, it represents the one being watched. In the second, it represents the one watching. Navy/black bars (second design): Resembles the black bars you see at the top of your screen when watching a movie, invoking the feeling of being watched or "onscreen".
