this hurts me ok because the way that they each of them holds the others hand is so indicative of their relationships to each other like

The first one I’m assuming is the original Legend of Zelda? There’s not a lot of chemistry there beyond him saving her life and everything. It’s a proper hand holding. It’s there, but not too serious.

OoT comes next and ZELDA is holding LINKS hand instead of the other way around. Because OoT Link is still a little bb. He never got the chance to grow up. He’s emotionally vulnerable and Zelda is his support. He trusts her implicitly to take care of him and she does.

WW is similar. Tetra is holding Link’s hand because he naturally cedes to her leadership and wants her to take charge. He’s comfortable allowing her to be the dominant one in the relationship.

The Twilight Princess one is proper too, but that’s because they don’t know each other very well and the people around them demand a kind of respect from TP Zelda that most other Zeldas don’t have to deal with because she’s older. Even so, there’s a secret kind of affection there–his thumb is grazing her knuckles. Just a gentle reminder that he is there for her, that he will support her.

Of course SS Link and Zelda love each other ardently, openly, and equally, and their hands show it. Their grip is strong. Steady. No one will break them apart.

And poor Ravio. trying to stop Hilda from leaving, but having her pull away from him anyway.
