He lifted his drink towards the equine, his other hand casually sliding a few Credit bills to the bartender.  〝 Put that fellow’s drinks on that – hopefully he doesn’t rob the bar, or it might not be enough. 〞

“If yer gunna buy me a drink, you might wanna put some more credits on there...I ain’t exactly a light weight.” He says, jokingly. He appreciates the drinks, though. 

“Tell you what...let’s start this whole shindig over on the right foot.” He offers the stranger a hand for a handshake. “Name’s Rhys. Rhys Lusitano. What’s yours?”

An hour passes by, and Wolf finds himself in the space station’s medical bay, where their guest had been taken away Wolf kept a sharp eye on the Cornerian at all times while the doctors did their work.

Now, after a little bit more time, the space pirate stands near the door, leaning his shoulder against the wall while waiting for his guest to wake up. 

“…” Wolf was cautious, though; he made sure each and every piece of equipment on the Cornerian captain was confiscated and taken away to another area within the station. He stood there, thinking about what sort of plan he can come up with, if any. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about any sudden moves from his guest, since all the medicine used to take care of him have severe side effects that renders one’s body weak and requires a long period of rest before one is fully recovered.

He’s out cold. And definitely a pain in the ass for whoever was carrying him, as he’s certainly not very light. Strapping him down was easy enough, but they’d definitely have to watch those legs of his when he woke up. Rib-breakers right there.

When he finally comes to, he’s definitely groggy. This coupled with the fact that he really did need his glasses to see made it difficult for him to make out anything besides vague medical equipment. When he finally  does make out a shape, it’s...

“You...!” He says, struggling to keep himself from passing back out in a groggy state. Damn it, he was Wolf’s hostage now. “You’ll...never get a word outta...me...” He says, words slurring.

“If I tell you, guaranteed there’ll be at least two idiots trying to off me before the end of the night.” He says, downing the rest of his drink and sighing. “Comes with the job I suppose. You’re right though, I do belong somewhere.” He really does not like to talk about Corneria or his employment off base. Not many people were too kind to Cornerians this far out.

“I’m just relaxing. As long as you’re not looking for trouble, I think that’ll happen.” He says, ordering another drink. “Me relaxing, that is.”

What an interesting answer… As Scarlett listened, she reached into the pockets of her jacket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes, put one in her mouth and lit it with a match. Seemingly offering one to him as well, she placed the box on the counter and took a long drag from her cigarette and blew the smoke away from him.

“Wow, okay, Mr Mysterious, your secret is safe with me” she mumbled with a large, relaxed grin on her face. “And nah, similar to you it’s usually trouble that finds me first, if you catch my drift. Can I get a name at least? Mr Mysterious is a bit of a mouthful.”

He doesn’t take her offering, mostly because he hates the smell of tobacco. Rolling his eyes at her nickname, he at least divulges his name. “Name’s Rhys Lusitano.” He says, pulling a card from the inside pocket of his jacket. “Bounty hunter and pilot instructor.” He slides the card across the bar at her. It’s...pretty neatly decorated with his information on the back.  

“How about you, Ms Mysterious?” He returns her nickname, giving her a playful look. “If I tell you what the day job is, you gotta tell me yours.”

He looks at her, cocking an eyebrow. “You know him? He’s lucky I didn’t knock his teeth outta his head…he swung first anyway, so he got what he deserved.” He snorts, sipping his drink. Rhys really did try to stay away from being the first to throw hands, so he could justify wrecking them later on. “I dunno why it’s always me. Is it because I’m big? Do I look like I’m easy to pick on?”

He pulls up a stool and parks his ass on it. “I came here to get away from bullshit, not get into it. Ya know?” He sips his drink again, sighing. “Hopefully you’re not too attached to that guy. And hopefully he stays on his ass.”

“Knowing?”

She laughed, revealing the light hoarseness in her voice, and leaned her forehead against the open palm of her hand, covering her eyes until she was done laughing. Then she looked to the stranger again, unable to contain a large grin that exposed her teeth.

“’Knowing’ is a strong word. I barely talk to this guy. But when you’re a female in this area, people seem to sniff you out immediately, like the fucking bloodhounds they are. You see a lotta faces, and the one‘s that don’t barf on your shoes before they get a single sentence out will try again next time.”

She lifted her drink to her lips and took a strong sip.

“You look clean. You look like you belong somewhere. To some, that’s provocative. What’s a man like you even doing here at this hour?”

It was supposed to be a simple job. Get in, kill the mark, get out. Leon had done this plenty of times before, and not always with the benefit of darkness shrouding him. It was midnight, he was a mile away, the bedroom window was in his sights, all he needed was to wait for the golden retriever to go to sleep. It was a perfect confluence of events. He should have known it was a set-up.

The Cornerians got the drop on him, and while he'd escaped them for now, he had lost his rifle and gained a nasty wound. Clutching his side, he ducked into an alleyway beside a bar and crouched behind a dumpster, heart pounding, breath heavy. His ship was hidden outside the city proper, but that was several miles in the other direction.

Caught like a bug in a Venus fly trap. Assassins were nasty pieces of work, and this one in particular had been a thorn in Corneria’s side for a while. When leadership had come up with the perfect trap for this annoying lizard, Rhys had volunteered for the job. No need to put some other poor newbie on a job like this one. When the trap was sprung, Rhys was the officer in command, and it was a surprisingly effective trap. Official orders were to take the guy alive, and that’s what he’d do. He’s left his craft, locked but primed to go, blaster pistol in one hand, other hand holding a portable tablet. One of his large ears twitch as he hears movement that doesn’t sound like your average bar-attendee. Ordering a couple of the other soldiers to look for the enemy ship, he puts his tablet away and shifts cautiously into the alleyway.

Leon groaned softly as he tried to examine his injury in the dim light of a distant streetlamp. He had taken a blaster shot on his right side, just under the ribs. The thing about blaster shots is that they burned, but didn't cauterize. He was bleeding badly. And he hadn't even been able to kill the Cornerian dog that had done this to him.

He heard his pursuer's footsteps and cursed inwardly. Drawing his own pistol, he watched the shadow of the large horse draw closer, but made no move. He couldn't handle a real fight right now, so his best shot was waiting. As soon as the horse was visible, he'd catch him between the eyes, then steal his ship and hightail it to safety.

“I know you’re in there, you cold blooded piece of shit.” He says, not taking another step. His hearing had alerted him to the rustling of the other, which either meant they had a weapon or were trying to escape. Neither option was good for him.

“You’re surrounded. They’re going to take in your ship and scrap it. Drop whatever you got and we’ll take you into custody nice and slow.” He says, an ear twitching as he listens for response. He’s half tempted to go find a grenade and just chuck it into the alleyway, but command wanted this guy alive.

The response was not a verbal one. Leon had no way of knowing if he truly was surrounded, or if it was a bluff, but he was determined to escape. Or go down fighting. To that end, Leon leaned out from behind cover, firing off several shots at Rhys. Blood continued to seep out from between his fingers where he gripped his wound.

Calculated. Rhys was a smart guy and an excellent tactician. He figured that Leon might try to pull something like this, so he sidestepped, ducking and returning fire to keep the lizard down. Continuing to fire to keep their head down, he leaps up and over the dumpster, grabbing his telescopic baton and thwacking Leon across the face as he landed, blaster pointed directly at his head. No ordinary Cornerian dog could have leapt that high into the air, but Rhys was, literally, a different breed of soldier.

“Orders said take you alive. Drop the gun or I record what’s about to happen next as an accident.” He says, finger most definitely on the trigger.

Leon saw spots as the baton cracked against his cheek and he hit the ground. He rolled onto his back, left hand still glued to his side, his right hand gripping the pistol. He glared defiantly down the barrel of Rhys's blaster, but the threat made him chuckle.

"Pretty ruthless for a Cornerian," he said, struggling to keep the pain from his voice as he tossed his gun away. There was no overpowering this man, not in his current state. Besides, he could always escape custody later. If he didn't bleed to death first. Judging from the metallic tang in his mouth, and the growing heaviness of his limbs, that was a distinct possibility.

“The only attitude for someone like you is ruthlessness.” He says, replacing his baton and jerking Leon up by an arm, before jamming a temporary stimpak into the wound and giving it a bit of a twist. Sure he might be a Cornerian with all the bells and whistles that came with it, but he was also a bounty hunter as a past time. He had experience. You had to keep the bounty alive.

The sudden jolt had Leon's head swimming, and he hissed as the medicine was administered with all the gentleness and care of a butcher. It wouldn't replace the blood he lost, but it would keep him alive and conscious, at least. He swayed and might have fallen if Rhys hadn't been holding his arm.

He tosses the empty syringe off to the side, jerking Leon’s arm behind his back and fastening a cable tie to it, forcing his free arm back as well to restrain him entirely. He’s practically dragging the lizard around like a ragdoll as he calls back to Command to let his supervisor know about the success.

“Corneria Command Post, this is Captain Lusitano, I’ve got the target alive and stable but they require medical attention. Requesting troop transport and medical evac. High threat prisoner.”

Leon would be passed off to a contingent of Cornerian guards on a transport ship and looked after by the medic on board, as well as escorted back by the acting commander’s squadron. Oh man, Rhys could hardly contain himself. Taking down THE Leon Powalsky of THE Star Wolf team? He could smell that medal coming. Maybe even a nice little bonus for Christmas! He was eyeballing some tasty after-market goodies for his joyride after-all.

what's your biggest regret in life?

"Biggest regret? Aha, that's a great question, given the fact that I could write a book based on all of my regrets. Biggest regret so far would probably be not pushing harder for a better job position- sure, being an Academy instructor is great, but I'm a Captain for God sake, I outrank Bill Grey and his combat squadrons, why can't I have my own? Am I not good enough? Why can't I actually go out and do combat patrols with everyone else? I'm tired of being pampered and preened like some sort of exotic showpiece. Yes I look fucking fantastic for stupid recruiting posters and standing on stage, but I want. To go out. And fight. The big fight. Is that so fucking hard to understand? They don't even let me customize my fighter outside of reworking the internals but they hand Bill a brand new fucking Wolfen knock off! What do I get? Experimental bullshit!" He takes a second to steady himself and fix his glasses. "All I'm saying is I regret not trying harder. Amongst other things."
