MERTHUR WEEK 2022 | Day 7 : finale’s 10th anniversary - free day (insp)
sins of the father is SUCH a fun (read: awful) episode for having the resolution of the whole show (Arthur kills his dad) dangled RIGHT THERE in front of our faces but obviously they couldn't do that bc then merlin would have told Arthur he had magic and the paper thin metaphor of magic=gay would have crumbled in front of God and everyone thus destroying the maliciously written gay subtext that is the shows bread and butter also Anthony head is the best thing that show had going for it so killing him off would be shooting themselves in the foot. the problem is there no logical reason that Arthur WOULDN'T kill his dad and merlin wouldn't let him so they have to make up right there and then that merlin is in such powerful crazed love for Arthur that he is willing to let a genocidal regime continue so Arthur won't feel sad. and with that episode the bbcs merlin became a tale of one guy who has the power to save Albion from oppression but won't use it because he is so desperate for the kings hot son to sleep with him
Top 3 Merlin episodes:
the one where uther returns as a ghost JUST to tell Arthur he wasn’t proud of him and to call Merlin slurs
the one where all the men are put under a spell to fall in love with this evil girl but it doesn’t affect Merlin because he’s.........magic ;)
Tasteful fade to black sex scene where uther fucks a troll
Honorable mentions: the episode where gwaine had to go to himbo prison and do shirtless arena fights and the episode where gwaine had to go to himbo prison and do shirtless mining and he also fucked an alien
arthur doesn't know what's good for him (youtube)
We cannot let it end like this. The blood will never wash off.
insane. sick and twisted. fucked up, even

MERLIN | 1x12 “To Kill The King”
Tell you what, we coulda had a good life together! Fuckin’ real good life! Had us a place of our own. But you didn’t want it, Arthur’s dad! So what we got now is this old tree stump behind the construction lot! Everything’s built on that! That’s all we got, boy, fuckin’ all. So I hope you know that, even if you don’t never know the rest! You count the damn few times we have been together in nearly twenty years and you measure the short fucking leash you keep me on - and then you ask me about Mexico and tell me you’ll kill me for needing somethin’ I don’t hardly never get. You have no idea how bad it gets! I’m not you… I can’t make it on a coupla high-altitude fucks once or twice a year! You are too much for me archies dad, you sonofawhoreson bitch! I wish I knew how to quit you.
Well, why don’t you? Why don’t you just let me be? It’s because of you gaius, that I’m like this! I’m nothin’… I’m nowhere… Get the fuck off me! I can’t stand being like this no more, gaius.
bbc merlin 5x03 “the death song of uther pendragon” / townie, mitski
artefact of Merlin summer 💔
new meta idea the reason why the plot of merlin has so many holes and genuinely makes no sense is because its from the perspective of merlin 1500 years later and he can't remember shit

Official round table business?
Alright which one of you forgot to bring the table
the first thing about merlin bbcmerlin is that half his problems are the direct structural result of the violently classist homophobic sorry i mean magicphobic society under which he lives. the second thing about merlin bbcmerlin is that the other half of his problems are stuff he made up for himself seemingly on purpose. like young warlock if you don't stop thwarting uther's assassination attempts
Couldn’t you have chosen something a bit easier?
