Dear Penny,

So the dance was significantly more interesting than I expected it to be.
That’s good, when one is out of depth usually it means that they’ll learn something, or find something good at least. Oh please, I am better interacting with people’s pets then people themselves, it’s a bit of a problem. Oh I know you can, but the offer is there. It’s a very interesting story that is, so much fun carrying around metal poles during a lightning storm. You feel like some sort of demi-god or something.
You know I'll take any opportunity to learn something, I'm just hoping I'll figure out what I'm doing before I make a complete fool of myself. At least Seth isn't the sort of guy who will ever try to move quicker than I'm comfortable with, not that I would let him if he did try to. You do have an unparalleled way with animals, it really is incredible. How do you get to be so good with animals? Does that come from working with them for so long or is just a natural gift you have? But I'm not even good with pets. Thanks Justin, I appreciate that. Did anyone get struck by lightning? That sounds really dangerous. I guess you wouldn't really have a choice though, the tent has to go up.
So the dance was significantly more interesting than I expected it to be.
Seth’s a good guy, so i don’t think I’ll be threatening him. Oh I’m not sure, I’m not the best when it comes to social interactions you know that. But if he does anything, just tell me. Have I told you about the time I helped setup the big tent during a lightning storm?
He is a good guy...a really good guy and I am completely out of my depth here. Well you're better at social interactions than I am, I think everyone is better at social interactions than I am. I can take care of myself Justin, though your offer is very sweet. No, you haven't but I seriously hope you're going to tell me now.
So the dance was significantly more interesting than I expected it to be.
Wait… what? Which one of my mates are you steppin’ out with. Well I mean, I suppose that’s the rule, but you know… yeah. Ok, don’t be worried, I’ve had tons worse while working with the circus you know.
Seth. How does that rule work when you're friends with both people involved? I don't really know how these things work. I'm sure you have, that doesn't make it any less concerning.
So the dance was significantly more interesting than I expected it to be.
You’ve got a lad hanging around you now do you Penny? My, well do I need to rough anyone up something good, make sure things go as smoothly as possible for you? I always end up busted it, it’s just fate now.
No you don't need to rough anyone up for me. Isn't there some kind of rule that you're supposed to put your mates before girls? Does that apply to roommates too? It concerns me that you get hurt so often.
So the dance was significantly more interesting than I expected it to be.
Oh, a lovely time? What exactly happened that you had such a lovely time. Oh I’m feeling better, a few broken ribs can’t keep me down for too long you know. But that’s what happens when a shed falls on you, rotting old thing it was.
I feel sort of silly saying it...I've never gotten flustered over a boy before. It just does make much sense worrying about you anymore does it? You end up busted up much too often. I'm glad you're doing better though.
So the dance was significantly more interesting than I expected it to be.
Well someone looks very smiley, wanna tell good old Justin about why you’re so smiley Pen?
Well good old Justin I had a lovely night at the Ball, that's why I'm so smiley. I was sorry not to see you, are you feeling better?
Penelope's style
So the dance was significantly more interesting than I expected it to be.
I thought you'd never Ask Seth +Penelope
Feeling his chest Tighten Seth couldn’t help but smirk at Penelope’s comment about noticing him. Feeling suddenly a burst of confidence Seth decided to press his luck a bit. “So notice in a good way right?” Seth asked somewhat jokingly and half hoping she would say yes. “I don’t believe that at all…but I’m glad I was the only smart guy in the room then.” He said letting himself relax a bit and really open up to Penelope. “And if this is one of your party dresses then I can’t wait to see you in a few more.” He said with a smirked that matched his eager expression. Seth had to admit on too of Penelope being pretty he was quite taken with her sense of style she reminded him of his grandmother and the old photos that were posted around his home of his ‘nana’ in her younger years all dolled up and full of life just like Penny was.
” Thanks.” He said honestly he had worked on his attire for weeks now and he was glad it payed off. ” I’ll have you know those girls were just using me since I’m one of the few guys around that doesn’t mind dancing.. especially for Lowell”… at the sound of the new Ministers name rolling off of his tongue made Seth feel uneasy “truthfully I’ve been trying to get to you all night.” Letting the truth settle Seth begin to chew on his bottom lip. “I should’ve asked you to be my date but I thought you might’ve had someone else .. Someone better, Penny.” Seth tone changed he hated feeling as though he wasn’t good enough for Penelope but he knew that was the truth he knew that her parents would never approve of the ‘Lyster’s Kid’ as the melody changed Seth slowed their pace as he watched her intensely wondering what she was thinking and how she truly felt for him. ” what do you mean by proper dance?” He asked slightly confused.
Penelope smiled up at Seth, "Yes, in a good way." She laughed slightly, his question seeming ridiculous to her. Why would she have admitted to noticing him if it hadn't been in a good way? "It's true, no one else has asked me to dance. Why would I lie about that?" Peneope looked at him, genuinely curious to hear his answer. "The only smart guy huh? A little full of yourself there Seth?" She teased him gently with a smirk. Penelope prided herself on always being well put together and in control of her own emotions but when she was around Seth remaining calm and collected seemed to become ten times more difficult. "Do you like my dress? I was hoping you would," Penelope admitted surprised by how much she wanted him to say that her did.
"Using you? Oh you poor poor boy having to dance with all the pretty girls at the ball, I don't know how you can stand it." Penelope smirk at Seth, rolling her eyes at him. In her heels she was almost as tall as he was and she looked directly into his eyes feeling a warmth growing in her chest. She raised her eyebrows in surprise, "You've been trying to get to me all night? Well what kept you?" Penelope listened to Seth, finding herself stepping closer to him, "I wouldn't have agreed to go with anyone else," she admitted, "Not that I expected you to ask me or anything. No one asked me anyways, there's not anyone else who would have." She held Seth's gaze, "What do you mean better?" She was confused, unsure where this was coming from. "I mean like a waltz, one of those dances you have to learn the steps to."
I thought you'd never Ask Seth +Penelope
Gently pulling Penelope to her feet and leading her to the dance floor Seth couldn’t help but grin stupidly. “Well I didn’t think you were waiting on me, I didn’t even think you would even notice me.. a beautiful girl like you… I’m sure you had to beat these mutts off with a stick.” Seth joked trying to look anywhere but in her eyes, as he positioned both hands on her waist while pulling her close to him so that they were almost completely chest to chest. “Is this ok?” He wondered hoping that his invasion of space wasn’t unwanted. Seth slowly maneuvered them into a small corner isolated from the of the students that remained on the dance floor. As they moved rhythmically to the melody Seth couldn’t help but to stare at Penelope, he had never seen her dolled up like this. He couldn’t help but smile he was in awe at how pretty she was. It was almost like she was glowing. Seth was pretty sure he had to have danced over twenty times tonight but this was the only one that mattered to him. “You look amazing you know… You always look amazing actually.. but tonight you’re just wow..” He chuckled not really sure what to say next. Seth had always kept his cool around Penelope he was never one to broadcast his emotions to the world or even pine over someone but he felt like tonight would a good night as any to finally let her know how much he admired her without scaring her off. “I’ve been wanting to ask you all night to dance, I’m sorry I made you wait so long. am I doing ok?”
Penelope let Seth lead her onto the dance floor, a small smile lifting the corners of her lips, "Of course I noticed you, how could I not?" She laughed, "I haven't beat anyone off with sticks," she said, pleased that she had understood his meaning, "believe it or not you're the first person to ask me to dance. You're the one whose been leading girls onto the dance floor all night." Penelope moved closer as Seth pulled her to him by her waist and she fought a slight shiver than ran across her skin from where he touched her. The nearness of him making her heart rate speed up slightly, "Yes, this is lovely." Her words came out quieter than she meant them to as she looked up slightly to gaze into Seth's eyes but he wasn't meeting hers. She moved her body slowly in time with his, letting him take the lead. Penelope knew how to dance, she'd been taught from a young age how to waltz and how to dance ballroom, her mother had even taught her some of the more complicated dances just for the fun of it but standing here on the dance floor with Seth she couldn't think about dance steps all she could think about was that it was him hold her close. She could feel his eyes on her and a light blush rose in her cheeks, she liked the way he was looking at her. No one had ever looked at her that way before. "Thank you," she smiled brightly, pleased that he'd noticed. She considered admitting that she'd gotten all dressed up for him but decided against it. "You said you wanted to see me in one of my party dresses." Penelope ran her eyes unnecessarily over his outfit, she'd already memorized what he was wearing from watching him across the room, "You look very nice yourself, you certainly clean up well." She looked back up at his face, meeting his eyes, "What were you waiting for?" She asked curiously, her head cocking slightly to the side. "Yes, you're doing alright. Do you know how to dance Seth? I mean, proper dances."
It's nice to see that everyone cleans up nicely.
I think we’re lucky-…when I used to imagine aurors, I imagined them like the ones who are guarding the Minister tonight - brooding, angry, intimidating. There is something intimidating about the aurors we’re used to having, but at the same time, you sometimes see bursts of…I don’t know, humanity? Something that reminds us they’re human just like us. But you’re right-…it is strange that our aurors aren’t here tonight. Maybe-…would McGonagall give them the night off? Since she knew the Minister would be bringing his own protection? Wait-…are you sure? Are you sure you’ve seen the blonde woman before? Where would you have seen her? Or-…did someone else see her? Is that-…is that why you seem so worried?
They can't all be like this right? I mean not all muggle cops are terrifying. Perhaps Minister Tegus selected this group specifically to frighten us. Or perhaps being intimidating is just part of the job and the aurors we usually have just aren't as good at that particular aspect. Maybe that's what it is, those little glimpses of a personality under all that stony discipline. I don't know about you but I don't see people when I look at this group, they look more like predators to me. I don't think McGonagall would send them away. I mean their here to protect us after all, don't we need protecting tonight as much as any other night? When two groups of people who are both in danger meet they usually both bring body guards, that's just politics. No I haven't seen her before but...she looks disturbingly like a woman Arabella described to me. The day of the protest just before she joined everyone in the Great Hall for the lockdown Arabella saw a woman she didn't know in one of the corridors. She described her as blonde with half of her hair shaved of and smug expression...
It's nice to see that everyone cleans up nicely.
It’s weird, isn’t it? It’s like-…when the first batch of aurors came, all we could talk about was how scary and stone like they appeared, but now that we’re seeing this new group of aurors…I think it’s safe to say we got lucky? At least we have a few aurors that know how to smile. These aurors seem ready to…snap. But wait-…what do they remind you of? Or -uh…should I say who do they remind you of?
I'm not sure if we got lucky with the first group or really unlucky with this one. I can't help but be comforted by the idea that they'll be leaving at the end of the night and we'll be able to go back to the protectors we're used to. Do you find it strange that Blue Eyes and the rest of them aren't here tonight? It's just one of them, that blonde one with half her hair shaved...I know I've never seen her before but she just looks familiar. It's like I read about her in a book and now I'm seeing her in person. Or like someone described...oh, oh shit!
I thought you'd never Ask Seth +Penelope
The Ball had been good to Seth better than he had expected. Girls who he’d never thought would utter two words to him now cling’d to him for dear life. Seth had to admit it was nice to finally be noticed by the opposite sex but something still felt off to him. He knew it was only temporarily, for the night and to Seth that was just fine. As his eyes darted wildly through the droves of scattered students Seth hunted for the brunette that he had grown to be quite smitten with over the past few weeks, Penelope. He had managed to locate her a few times but that was moments before he was being dragged away onto the dance floor.
As the night dragged on Seth couldn’t help but to look over his shoulder every now and again for a glimpse of her. Hoping that they could lock eyes for a moment over even catch a echo of her laughter the more that Seth was preoccupied by other girls all he could concentrate on was Penelope. He hadn’t gotten a proper look at her but he was sure she was a ‘knock-out’ One thing Seth couldn’t do was take his eyes off of her she was radiant. Seth had always thought this, but it was something about her tonight that made him blush every time he saw her with some of the other girls in their year. Seth noticed that Penelope hadn’t left the table that he’d had seen her at all night. Awe struck and grateful at the same time that no one had asked her for her hand Seth was determined to change that. finishing up his last dance he made his way over to her without muttering a word He simply cleared his throat and held out his hand.
Penelope wasn't the sort of girl who made an effort to impress anyone, she didn't think she needed to. She didn't usually fuss over her outfits or do much more than run a brush through her hair but tonight was different. Tonight Penelope wanted to catch someone's attention, she wanted Seth to notice her. She'd sat herself down at one of the tables scattered about the room and proceeded to stay there. A couple of her friends had floated over throughout the night but all just to talk, she hadn't been out of the dance floor yet.
From where she was sitting Penelope had a fairly good view of most of the room and she'd noticed Seth floating on and off the dance floor with a different girl each time and she couldn't help the unfamiliar pang of jealousy that struck her each time but she decided to ignore it. He was never on his own long enough for her to get up the courage to walk over and ask him to dance so she just sat the table and slowly sipped away at her glass of butterbeer. She'd just finished talking to one of the younger Slytherin's when she heard someone clear their throat from just over her shoulder. She turned to see Seth standing over her with his hand outstretched. Penelope smiled up at him, trying not to look as pleased as she was to see him. Gently dropping her hand into his she stood up from her chair and turned to face him, looking him up and down. "Took you long enough."
It's nice to see that everyone cleans up nicely.
And it’s nice to see you cleaning up just as nice as everyone else too, Penny. How’s your night so far?
Well thank you Rosie, you look wonderful. My night has been good, nothing especially interesting has happened but I get the feeling that that may be a good thing in this instance. How has your night been so far?
It's nice to see that everyone cleans up nicely.
Well-…it’s not like we really had a choice? The Unity Ball was one thing, since it was only for our sake, but this-…this is for the Minister and I guess people took the formal dress and “be on your best behavior” seriously. I think the intimidating aurors in every corner of the room help…
Regardless of the circumstances everyone looks lovely. I think it's good everyone is taking McGonagall's instructions seriously, I don't like to think what might happen if someone acted up tonight. Those new Aurors are significantly more disconcerting than the ones we've had around. And one of them...reminds me of something and can't think what but it's nothing good.
