this morning i reviewed some of my old nahuatl notes and did a little bit of planning. i took a break from nahuatl because i had a lot of pre-orientation things to do, but looking back at my notes reminded me of how much i enjoy learning the language.

ciao friends! today has been the first productive day i’ve had in a while. i’ve been playing catch up today on some assignments because truthfully, my ADHD has been pretty out of control the past few days. i’ve been finding it difficult to stay motivated and focused - it’s stretches of time like this where i’m learning to be compassionate with myself, to give myself brain breaks, and to remember that my mental health is more important than turning in every assignment perfectly & on time. 

so if this pops up on your dash, this is your reminder of all of those things above. times are hard right now, and no one expects you to be perfect all the time. be gentle with yourself. we’ll be okay ✨

hi there! hope you all have had a great weekend. my state saw about 8 inches of snow over the past few days and i’ve done nothing but shovel, drink hot chocolate, and sit warmly by vanilla scented candles. the countdown to graduation is now in the double digits, and i am still behind in my readings!!

8.2.2020 » february spread, a departure from my usually minimalistic spreads but i kinda like it

my daily routines have changed a lot from what they were last year. my most productive time used to be in the morning, at around 10-12, but these days i find it really hard to get anything done in the mornings so i spend them just eating breakfast and maybe taking a little walk. i then usually spend the afternoon studying (or at least trying to) and on some days rn i have evening classes so it’s actually smart to relax in the morning so that i will still have some energy left if i have to go to class at 4-6pm. 

progress is still slow and i’m struggling with motivation a lot. sometimes i start doubting my major because most of the time it doesn’t feel as interesting as it did before but i feel like it’s mostly because online studies are really draining. i have so many courses this spring because i’m trying to catch up for the courses that were cancelled last spring but i have no idea if i’ll be able to do this many courses at once. i’m really testing my limits here and it’s a really bad timing for it because i’ve never been this out of energy. 

but i have to mention some good things too. i’ve been getting a lot of energy from music lately. i’ve listened to nothing but thieves a lot, their newest album is amazing. also i rediscovered some of my old fav metal bands like bvb recently and found out that listening to metal/rock really energizes me. i also highly recommend a band called normandie, they’re a swedish rock band that is seriously underrated and they have discussed some pretty deep topics in their most recent releases (their newest song ‘hostage’ is about panic attacks and no song has hit so hard in a while) and i’m looking forward to their new album out next week!

I had my exam this morning. It’s easier than I expected but I didn’t have enough time to finish it…

I used to have mid term exam in December during high school. It was more relaxed in uni as the deadlines were usually in November. Now I’m busy preparing for my external exams~

Got a foldable mini desk today ! We don’t have a flat that’s big enough for a study area so I’m always having to study in bed (I know all the tips say not to do that but not everyone has the facilities to avoid it, especially in lockdown). This is going to be life changing for studying at home. I love it so much. It’s perfect for holding my laptop and all my study materials steady and preventing my back and neck from aching.
