Vachellia nilotica
I see youâve buried your Roots
Deep in my cracking Terrain,
Dug far beneath the Ground
I couldâve grabbed to claw you out.
The Sun heats to beat your Leaves
Into desiccated Spines,
Your Blooms to bitter Beads of Gold,
Your Bark a Bath of Compounds
Stinging any Behemoth who may bite you
From what Breaths of Life you hold,
That I bear: Water, bubbling beneath
My Skin, beneath my Sight
When I see him.
And no matter how many Times
Iâve tried to pry you from your Place,
You tell me âWe will rise.â
Flightless
Trekking through the Depths
Of sandy Seas, a bumpy Speck
Braves the midday Sun
To speak of Dissent, Life beneath the Heat.
But why doesnât it take to the Sky?
Why no Eyes on the Tyrantâs Throne?
That would require Wings
Unsheathed of Elytra,
The very Opening it knows
The Sun is waiting to bake.
Severed from the ancestral Sea,
Legs arranged and tested
Failed to let you step away
The last Time you saw him
And you stumbled
Before your Eyes
Cast a violent Tide on your Face,
Rumbled and turned you awake.
Youâve been sailing
On Sand since then,
Praying for Rain to grace the Tracks
Of Mud...
Itâs drifted so long
Without Contact
That the Sun is hollow,
A mocking Ray undone
By Winds for no Wing to mount,
No Words to dot its Mouth
With the shivering Lips
Of others who quiver
At the Chance to dribble
Their Clouds of Chatter to it,
To anything with a Will
To hoard more Air in its Ears.
It, too, spoke once,
But upon its Frost it closed,
Hardened the Root of its Tongue
To toss any future Ties aside
And hide behind the Glaciers.
Now it tries, yet again, to find me.
I take issue with some people telling me that I have to learn how to be happy on my own.
How does somebody do that if theyâre forced to be surrounded by people? By people that, by nature, care about only their ends, and only in some instances, consider the happiness of others as one of their own?...
Basically me ranting.
A Heatwave settled the Air,
Wrestled the Mosquitos from Rest
As I clenched your Hand,
Leaves falling overhead.
âOh look at the Treesâ
And how I cling to what Green
I can see between the Yellow,
The Orange, the Brown
Littering the thin Branches.
Less the Light filtered in,
But...
Coddling my Screen,
I stare into the Blue,
The only source of Light
From this solitary Mountain,
Whose Peak only peeks out the Sheets
Of Water submerging its Movements.
But I savor its Glow
As if Sunlight piercing the Depths,
Stretching my Words through Wires
Tattered from the...
Again, just a notice that my poetry will be on this blog now.
I looked around their outlines,
Their sharp, unrounded corners,
The stainless glass of oiled men
Trying to pass as olden.
How beautiful it is to stand
With the bricks beneath you
And have everyone enter, observe
Every crack in your walls.
My bricks, your mortar,
Whoever built...
Walking in Williamsburg
Streets repaved
To hint at our History
Crack and echo
Beneath my Feet, still,
Holding the Spoils
Of Ships and Oil
Long-lost in Texts
Of âourâ History,
The History of Architects
Who ignored the Lashes
And Bricks we raised,
The Flames and Ash
Of Buildings
Whose Builders held no Name
In those Pages.Â
Just so everybody knows, I'll be posting poetry from this blog starting now.

Trigger Warning for references to rape and violence ---------------------------------------------- "Egyptian women exist Trapped, confined Within the limits Of a patriarchal society" As if to raise our Country high And mighty above their Plight, Daring to take a wistful Flight From the Blood we try to hide Every Time some "innocent guy" Gets out of Trouble, a free Ride For leaving his Victims to die After a Shot at their Rights. I add a dry Laugh at your Gasp When you hear that College is a Trap For all the Gals whose Words are snatched Between the Frats and Police with Cataracts To the Slack they stack on Culprits' Backs When they go "so far" as to slap The "poor lad" who has a bright Future Stepping on those who may never suture. Stop insisting the Trouble's abroad And that nobody you know Has doubted the Safety lying Feeble in our domestic Walls.
Itâs easy to say âfuck cultural identities, weâre all humanâ when your culture is not the one being exploited, marginalized and oppressed. Itâs easy to say âfuck bordersâ when your country is the one who puts up the borders. And it is really fucking easy to say âwe all bleed redâ when itâs not bodies of your people riddled with bullets because Western capitalism has a price.

Striking photos show the protests happening now across AmericaÂ
Itâs not the blind leading the blind that I think we should fear. Itâs those with vision like razorblades who look upon the weak and meek and lost with hungry eyes. Itâs those who see opportunities like dollar signs and human beings as disposable paper towels that will mop up whatever mess they leave behind. Itâs those who invent monsters to scare the flock and name themselves savior and slayer for the low low price of servitude. Isnât it funny how controlâs growing light keeps fear alive and nourishes it to thrive?

Safari
Suit up for the Crew and stow the Roots Of the âHolesâ and âTracesâ in your muddled Skin.
Traced the Lead youâve led over your Tongue Every Time you wanted your vanilla Boy To think of you as more than a Toy Actinâ as an exotic Tonic from Troy, But hey, âyou donât have to cake your face To make âem do a double-takeâ âCause you know theyâre begginâ for a Taste.
Hey, I ainât your CafĂ©-au-LAIT Nor your off-white Escapade.
Say, why do you expect Iâll bend Over, respect, fail to reject Your fumbled Attempts at Requests? Oh, you think your ivory Face Gives you the Chance to waste my Space And the Prospect of owning a Bugatti Cloaks your obvious Safari?
I donât wannaâ be caught, no midnight Colony, So donât expect a Response from me.
A Nation Revived
Mold your Words to a Throne Of severed Bones and melted Swords And relish the Scent of Blood Of Enemies you held in Contempt, (You're gonna' need it) Pretend to mend your Gut By bearing Metal to stab our End And bend to the Thought That you've buried a Friend. I'm no frailer for the Flame You've sentenced in your Arrows, No worse for the Headwind You've cast in your Breath, So don't come cryin' about the Fire You raised to raze the Castle We dared to build from Dust; I've got my own damn Throne.
