I'm here from OC Bingo since you mentioned hoping people would hop over here! I've got some questions for you about your original story, The People of the Wing.
Give us a small lore drop about an aspect of your choosing in the lovely world you've made.
What is Allard and Cassian's relationship like?
What's something you're proud of coming up with for this world/story?
What's the inspiration behind naming the Houses after birds?
If you had to put yourself into a House, which would you be in?
Let's get meta! Pick a character and tell us how you think audiences/characters would talk about them in fandom spaces.
What's the Empress' motivation behind being so pacifistic/anti-war?
What is the aim of the Rebellion in the story?
And a question for you as an author, which format do you prefer, scriptwriting or prose?
Oh you have no idea how much I’m smiling right now. Thank you so much!
1. House Song citizens typically live in sort of pod houses that hang from trees, since the trees in their forests are almost like megafauna, especially the main tree that the palace is located in.
2. Allard and Cassian start off as complete opposites and even enemies. They slowly learn to trust each other and become pretty much best friends. They’ve got each other’s backs, always. Once that trust is earned, it’s complete loyalty. Allard is very conscious that Cassian has a not so great past and they do their best to gently remind him when that starts to show through. And Cassian appreciates it as he learns to be a better person.
3. I’m really proud of the geographical set up I put together. I just kinda winged it but I love it.
4. Well, I needed a way to sort of group the people and it made sense to me to sort of group them by type of bird. House Raven (named because their leaders always historically have had raven wings), House Hawk (most of them have hawk wings), House Owl (most of them have owl wings), House Song (the all have songbird wings), House Vulture (most of them have vulture wings).
5. I’m a mountains and pine trees girly, so definitely House Raven.
6. Lord Fenmore my beloved. My poor tragic boy.
7. Empress Rhiannon is a very interesting character. She’s practically raised her nephew Wyatt. His parents died when he was very young, and they way they died is very key to why she’s such a pacifist. His parents (and a bunch of others) were killed in a border skirmish. Wyatt’s mother was originally supposed to be empress, so her death impacted Rhiannon a lot. She vowed to make sure that none of her people, Wyatt especially, ever had to deal with the grief and sadness that she did.
8. The rebellion was formed with the purpose of stopping House Raven from taking over the continent, and to fix a lot of crooked laws within House Raven.
9. I definitely prefer prose, but this story just works better as a screenplay. Plus, it’s a fun way to break out of my comfort zone and push myself.
