some qiana sketches, i tried a thing with her having one blonde eyebrow but i'm dropping it cos the og design is cleaner
next will do a page of character design/outfits for her to really nail anatomy and style

first redraw since 2020, and developing from her 2016 style. next sketches will play with versions of her hair but these helped to remember how her body flows. feel like i want her colour palette to feel a bit more mature but that will also come from styling her properly

some really rough sketches of qiana - was much easier to remember how to draw her than the others and she's so curvy and flowy it's fun
i'm sort of rethinking her hair in that i imagine this socialist future will most likely have a black natural hair revolution (again) and wigs would be less common (specifically the ethical sourcing of hair for wigs) tho not absent from culture entirely. feel like there would still be a culture of fashion and self expression that included them, esp for changing colours.
imagining a knotless braids situation or long microbraids. lemme see

myleah in her lil outfits!!! i finally nailed her!! muscle femme she needs another page of outfits that feel more everyday, the moodboard i have for her is sports body types with a rihanna dress sense i'll do one more page of her before finaaally moving on to drawing qiana, i feel manically excited and rebringing all four of the gang to life, and redrawing them helps me plot out the storylines that have been jumbled up for years in my head (and some on the page).
with every sketch i get closer!

ok i played around and i'm keeping her hair 2 buns and a horn crown but for special occasions she gets two lil plaits at the front

playing with hairstyles. i like the braids at the front but they are kinda annoying to draw repeatedly. at the back feels like a younger version of her and she's in her 30s so want it to feel fitting and not childish. tho in this future, everyone p much dresses younger and slicker than today, same ways we look younger than our agemates of the 1950s-80s

working on myleah's colour palette as she's probably the least developed of the four based on my 2016 sketches. also trying out some style alts for her hair, like maybe some cute braids in the front to break up the helmet hair

damn, really struggled to redraw myleah after all these years, took so many redraws to recapture her face and vibe. she's gonna take a few sketches still, next will be some full body tests n expressions she has a similar odd hair logic like pepper, in that it sort of has a life of its own, and needs deciding how it looks from all angles in a way that either does or doesn't break the logic - like mickey mouse ears

character n wardrobe designing salt has been so fun, their palette feels tighter and i'm getting a better handle on their anatomy. the old pointed bionic leg design was such a great shape but impractical for everyday but i've got ideas for when we'll see it again
also picturing them in some sick rollerblades so they might be in the next sheet of wardrobe design

first time i've drawn them together since 2020 really happy with their colours, proportions n poses still need work reverted back to an early biro/6b pencil hybrid that feels more sketchy than the biro still feels tricky to balance the original sketchy design of them now that i don't draw on paper and scan they're obviously not hyperrealistic but i want them to feel more graphic than cartoony, but feel like that would require a pepper redesign that loses her iconic hair shape so we're pushing forward with a sketchy pen like vibe
