Okay but hear me out. Ichigo kicks his dad out for something bad, I dunno starting his shit with the girls or something awful like that. So now we have single teenage parent Ichigo. Along comes a beautiful bastard that takes one look at the happy, close little trio and covets that like nothing ever before. Cue Yandere supernatural bastard that is a dark, scary thing that’ll burn the world down for them if they only ask. Kisuke Grimm orAizen. But someone totally badass with the power to prove it.
Oh oh maaaan I like this. I like this a lot.
I think I’d want it to be a Soul Society!AU too and I could see it being either Kisuke, Aizen (wow a AU I could actually do with this bitch), or fucking Byakuya (since I’ve not done anything with him being darker but y’all’d have to let me know what you’d prefer cause all three are a valid option).
But either way Ichigo snaps early on and forces Isshin out of the house and out of her, Karin, and Yuzu’s lives. It was one thing when he was attacking Ichigo, trying to “toughen her up for the Academy” but it’s another thing when Isshin turned even a single bit of that attention towards Yuzu or Karin.
That is something Ichigo will not allow.
Former Captain and Shiba Clan member or not Isshin leaves when Ichigo makes her point and then presses.
So now Ichigo’s young with two baby sisters to raise on her own. But then she’s been raising them since she was a kid herself anyways so it’s really not all that different.
Ichigo does what she has to. She can’t leave them alone to go to the Academy even if she wants to so she just kind of shrugs and sets that idea aside. Maybe in the future once they’re settled on life paths of their own there will be time for what Ichigo wants.
So time passes and she takes odd jobs around the district, puts her extremely impressive strength and the fact that she has a zanpaktou despite not attending the Academy to use hunting down Hollows on the sly to help support her family.
It’s hard but her sisters smile now, she can sleep without worrying about how Isshin will wake her up, they have a life together, the three of them.
It’s humble and it hurts Ichigo sometimes but it’s happy
So, it’s worth it, the pattern of work/battle/blood/family that her life’s fallen into. The too little food she gets sometimes, the too little rest she’s learned to live with.
What she’s not expecting is the day she, fresh from battle and running on her version of fumes, literally walks right into a obviously powerful Shinigami’s chest.
There’s some words exchanged, Yuzu and Karin make an appearance, and then Ichigo hustles them away. She doesn’t expect to see the Shinigami ever again.
Only she does. Over and over again. Ichigo keeps seeing him.
And then the gifts start and Ichigo … well Ichigo isn’t sure what to think after that.
