The record store was the ideal entry into a life of being gainfully employed. Part-time because of my class schedule, and because that's all Nine could afford to offer. He's cool with letting me do my homework when we're not busy, but more often than not, we spend my entire shift talking about music and just...life in general.

Do you have a plan for after you graduate? he asked one day, while we were working on stock.

I'm not used to thinking that far ahead, I confessed. So I'm still undecided. Is owning a record store what you've always wanted to do?

Yes and no. Music is my life and the store feels like home, but I've always wanted to be a songwriter.

Maybe someday. But not today. He gestured toward the back door of the store. I'd also like to turn that empty lot into a food stall park with a stage for live music and maybe outdoor movies. And this building...well, it kind of sucks.

Instead, you're paying me when you could be saving that money for the things you want.

Nah. Nine shook his head. You needed this more than I need a food stall park right now.

I may have cried a little on the subway ride home, but they were good tears over the embarrassment of riches that my life has become.

I booted up Boroughsburg in The Sims 3 yesterday and was floored. Then I thought to myself, can you build something similar in the The Sims 4? Well, 12 hours in and this is what I have so far; welcome to the Beaumont save file. It'll consist of Willow Creek, Newcrest, and Magnolia Promenade. Recreating Brooklyn on a scale that matches Boroughsburg would be close to impossible, especially since The Sims 4 isn't open world, but I can definitely try. Don't worry, I'm still painstakingly working on my small-town save, but I needed to scratch that urban itch.

P.S. building that dock out of random pieces of cc I found on the internet is going to literally fry my brain.

Amiri's new apartment. She lives in the same building as Clem, Kalliope, and Brynn. She also got a makeover and I love how she looks now. Her new place is really calming, and I actually like it more than the apartment I lost in the old save.

Herman seemed in decent spirits when I visited him in the Fashion District. Better than I expected for someone so recently widowed. I asked him if there was anything I could do for him, and he tried to kiss me.

This isn't a good idea, I said.

Why? he asked. It always was before.

I didn't mean for it to sound so harsh, Herman. What we had was clouded by my addictions and now that I'm clean...I don't feel things the same anymore. I love you, but not the way you deserve to be loved.

Kim was kind of a rebound thing, he said. I met her online and we connected. She said the right things, you know? Made me think about someone other than you.

Then we met in person and...I don't think I've ever been less attracted to anyone in my life. I told myself the connection was what mattered, but we never should have gotten married. I wasn't over you. And when she realized that...well, it might have been why she went into a rage.
