[So I decided that I’m archiving this blog and making a new blog for all of my Steven Universe characters. I’m just never on this blog and it makes me anxious about it. I’ll still have my stuff up though in case anyone wants to look back on it or if I decide to go back to this blog.]

I was thrilled to pieces when I saw this scene. Disney could have written Gideon off like some bully character who never really amounted to anything, or got what was coming to him like a lot of those characters do in their movies.  Gideon made something of himself. He’s a pastry chef, something that’s not traditionally a job for men in media. And as soon as Judy speaks to him, he immediately apologizes to her. He doesn’t try to shrug it off as no big deal, or say that it was just boys being boys or whatever; he knows he hurt her, and he owns up to it. And Judy immediately forgives him. 

Well done, Disney.

Also the language that he used is not something that he would have most likely grown up hearing/using. Describing his failings as self-doubt that manifested into “unchecked rage and aggression” sounds SO MUCH like therapy speak. So he’s either gotten counseling to help him with some of his problems, or sought out literature to help himself. A++ disney :)

She stumbles a little from side to side. Her eyes were red from the fever taking over her. Probably shouldn’t have eaten so much junk. Curse the earth and all its germy surfaces this rainy weather was not helping either.

Lapis was lying to herself as her own body was not cooperating with her over anything she was doing. Wobbling around watching Peridot act as a support beam.

Okay, maybe Peridot was a bit paranoid about Lapis’ sickness. But she was concerned for her health.

“I had more torture in mind, but it’s been a shitty day. What’s your first class again? My schedule changed.”

Paige sighed, calming down as she was released. She was almost relieved she wasn’t put through more agitation. She wasn’t as irritated as normal either, considering a bad weekend wore her out too.

“I see. My weekend’s been a bit shitty too. I have biology for my first class.”
