“Wow… that sounds rough. I’m so sorry. I’ve had a bunch of reporters try and get me to comment on who I think killed her. It’s disgusting. They can’t even find the decency to give the town a little bit of time to mourn.”
“It was really rough and it felt like the longest shift ever. Really? That’s horrible. I understand that it is what they do for a living and they need a good story but it’s so insensitive. I’m sorry you have had to go through it as well.”
“I had a super long day at work today and I am so glad to be at home. I usually love working at the Surf Shop but today I hated it so much. There was all these reporters outside wanting to hear how I was feeling about the sudden passing of her. They wanted to hear about how close I was with Carson. Did it ever occur to them that it’s not easy for me to talk about her just being gone?”
“well of course it has its beautiful places, like old san juan, and the beaches. we have flamboyanes, which are these big trees that make red or yellow flowers, and they look really pretty in the summer. i don’t think i could visit considering i have no family over there anymore, but i’m definitely planning on going as soon as i have the means to. well, there’s a lot of music and eating and underage drinking, so it’s pretty fun. we have a lot of customs like eating lechon asado, drinking coquito, going on parrandas and hiring batucadas. the atmosphere and everything is just really fun.”
“i have heard that san juan was supposed to be really beautiful. oh those very beautiful, i would love to see them in person someday. maybe a friend could go along with you someday just so you could go and see your hometown again? that all sounds pretty awesome. it does sound very beautiful and very fun.”
“not as beautiful as you think. only in certain places, but living in the city you won’t find anything that could be remotely beautiful. but i do miss it. i miss the atmosphere, the weather i never appreciated while i was there, i miss the food, and i really miss puerto rican christmas. i miss my culture.”
“really? i always thought that it would be one of the most beautiful places around. aw, i imagine you must miss it a lot. well you could probably go visit from time to time, right? what is puerto rican christmas like? i would really like to know.”
“Wow. I am so sorry. I’ve lost a lot of people and it really sucks. Having to go through that is completely awful.”
“Thank you for your supportive words. I do really appreciate them. It is awful and I wouldn’t wish this feeling open anyone. Hopefully we don’t have to keep on losing people important to us.”
“I didn’t know her very well. She seemed like an interesting person, to say the least. I think I may go to the party though.”
“She was my best friend. We kind of drifted which is super sad. She was unpredictable and had her moments where she was not the nicest but at the end of the day she was a good friend. Maybe I will see you there.”

dani: i’ll see you on the other side one day. hopefully many years from now when you have lived a long and full life. i’ll miss you!
“Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love parties, but doesn’t it seem a little reckless to have a bonfire so soon after someone was murdered in her own car?”
“I was thinking the same thing at first. But I am going to treat as a celebration of her life in some sort of way. Carson always loved parties so I am sure it is what she would want.”
he hadn’t realized how much this would effect everyone else, and judging by daniela’s actions, he knew that she was taking this harder than most people were. “i know it’s a lot to swallow, and that it’s difficult not seeing her around here, but just know that she wouldn’t want you to mope around about her death. carson might have been a lot of things, but i know she wouldn’t have wanted this for you.” his arm went around her neck and he pulled her in just a little bit tighter. “maybe you should talk to someone? a therapist or something.”
daniela had been taking the tragic news quite hard. it really hurt her and she was just missing carson being around so much. she let out a little laugh even though she still had some tears falling down her face. “you are right. she probably wouldn’t wanted any of us to be so upset like i am.” daniela found herself moving to rest against his chest when he pulled her in tighter. her arms moved to wrap around his waist. “i haven’t had luck with finding one that i can afford. and the grief counselors didn’t do much for me.”
“i’m from bayamón, puerto rico. though i moved here three years ago.”
“i heard that puerto rico is beautiful. i imagine you must miss it a lot.”
