I think at this point we simply must accept the truth, which is that no Percy Jackson adaptation or sequel will better understand the assignment than The Lightning Thief musical. solidly 70 percent of the plot happens in one (1) song and the entire rest of the musical is dedicated to The Themes and The Characters and The Relationships and, of course, The Cycles. plus it fucking slaps. 20/10, no notes, perfect understanding and interpretation of the source material

People complaining about the lack of explicitness of the skip sex scenes are disrespecting the agency of the actors. Everyone has talked extensively about working with an intimacy coordinator and making sure everyone was comfortable and felt safe as possible, and this was the level of comfort that Francois and Robbie had with nudity and sexual scenes.

based on the reactions i'm seeing to episode 3, i feel it appealed much more to gay men than to women in general (heterosexual and queer). most of the complaints i see are from women, obviously not an attack on them, but i believe this explains a lot about how different perspectives on the gay world are experienced by different audiences.

i am a gay man (not out, very homophobic family, completely homophobic context and life), so technically i'm only "out" online, which serves as an exile.

so, for me, like the reactions of other gay men who enjoyed the episode, it was a very interesting episode that offered more moments of melancholy, cuteness and gay reality.

i could write an article expressing that including less sexual moments and bringing more diverse dynamics to a gay erotic tv show is very important.

this story can't behave like any other erotic tv show; queer reality unfortunately doesn't benefit from heterosexual privileges, and that needs to be shown somehow.

i'm glad the tv show is written and directed by a gay man who seems to understand this, from what i'm seeing.

#as a somewhat closeted bi guy I second that #I don't vibe with Shane and Ilya as much as I do with Kip and Scott cuz like the hidden pining has been a lot of my younger years #I wanna the cute domestic gays being happy now

A lot still to do, but I wanted to capture another scene with one playing with the tie of the other, with this one being more intimate for Scott and kip, vs the passionate grab from Ilya and Shane.
