“ You can try, but you can’t make that much cool just happen, darling. ”
“True friends stab you in the front. Ma chérie, vous m'ont blessé. ”
labellepoison:
Ladies dance, of that Celeste Rousseau has always been absolutely certain. Whether they are the sheltered young ladies of old or a progressive spoiled princess of the twenty first century, dancing is a valuable skill — and her granddaughter has had no reprieve.
She teaches Gisèle herself when the child is eight and distraught over another birthday without her mother; schools her in relaxing her shoulders down in the perfect posture and feeling the beat threaded through the music to know where her partner is going to lead almost before he does.
She stops dancing around the same time she stops smiling prettily at the insipid boys at balls, but the music stays with her.
——
The music caught her attention from the far end of the deserted corridor and she stopped in her tracks, pausing to listen. It was worth it. The music haunted with its melody — echoes of sorrow and melancholy and loneliness, cold resounding loneliness. It made her miss home more than ever; following it was laughably crucial, almost subconscious. Gisèle entered the room with an assertive step, uncaring of who she may or may not be disturbing. The head that lifted to meet her gaze was still a welcome sight. There weren’t many she would deem acceptable for witnessing her terrible love for the dance, but Caleb Perthshire was all right. She could hold the deadly sword of marriage over this boy’s head. And if he could play it, she could dance it. She inclined her head with a subtle shake to decline the proffered seat and answered the quirked brow with a slight asymmetrical lift of her mouth.
“Go on,” she prompted. “I liked it.” And then she rose on tiptoes in her flat uniform shoes to imitate heels and curved her arms around the invisible partner she learned to practice with.
Though seemingly outdated, there were peculiar antiquities that dictated the way of life that Caleb Kensington Perthshire had been born into. He had been carefully bred to be beautiful, pureblooded, and a gentleman. However, it often seems like our little darling has latched onto beauty, purity, and gentleness in a different context. He has chosen to allow those words to define his soul, rather than his status. The former was something he chose, while the latter had been thrust upon him. A good heart would not get him very far, as it was much more likely to get trampled than respected.
Wealth, etiquette, and useless talents were bestowed at an early age in hopes to combat that. Etiquette is just one more thing to learn and to flaunt - just one more thing separating the elite from the vile, tainted wizards and witches below them. Etiquette was a mere mask, torn off and shredded behind closed, gilded doors, but it was another thing Caleb took to heart. He simply was polite, formalities and expectations be damned.
--
Etiquette was another source of pride for purebloods - another pedestal to stand upon, raising them up even higher to look down upon the less fortunate. It was not only reserved for ballrooms and gatherings. Instead, it haunted high society as a whole, though everyone knew it was nothing but a thin veneer. A facade with dull eyes and perfectly poised fake smiles, pursed lips holding back venomous tongues. It was a necessary evil for social advancement, as there would be hell to pay if you stepped one foot out of line from the path put in front of you. Grow up, learn your place in society, fulfill the duties of arranged marriages, procreate, and teach them how to continue the cycle. It was all so fake. It made the blond sick to his stomach knowing that he was potentially doomed to this nonsense, and that particular thought had caused him to seek out the quiet. A transfigured piano and a few choice melancholy melodies always helped him brood. Interruptions did not. There, in the doorway, stood the very creature he was trying to get his thoughts to stray away from. The universe was taunting him, and he decided to accept the challenge. Gisèle was beautiful, but an enigma. His curiosity begged to learn the depth of her wickedness and the extent of her lethality, but he had learned not to mess with Pandora’s Box. Letting his fingers come to a rest, he folded them neatly in his lap and turned to study her. When prompted, Caleb rose and silently enchanted the piano to play its tune automatically. Caleb strode forward, eyeing her as he neared. “May I have this dance?”

Fuck, Take a bullet for,Murder - Clarabel, Gisele, Ada
Caleb would do it with Gisele, take a bullet for Clara, and stick Ada in a closet.
6 (ada, sebastian, artemis)
Okay so Caleb wouldn’t kill or betray anyone unless the situation was absolutely dire. He’d welcome all hands on deck for the apocalypse, though.
3 (amma, nadia, clara)
Caleb would fuck Nadia (though he would choose a less crass word for it), take a bullet for Clara, and get rid of Amma.
Send me three names + a number...

S l o w l y; slowly. Bitterness consumes, and the purer the heart, the dirtier the deed. Bitterness poises and lurks, hiding in the shadows of the soul that refuse to be acknowledged. It waits to plant seeds, cultivating vines that yearn to choke out hope as it blooms. Its battle tactic is silence - crouching and waiting to strike. The heart fights a constant battle to guard itself, refusing to let bitterness creep in s l o w l y, yet pushing every ounce of gentleness into the world at the same time. No such soul knows of this warfare better than Caleb Perthshire. For someone who reflects and radiates so much warmth into the universe, it’s nearly appalling that the same being can be plagued by such melancholia. If that point is raised, it’s met with a knowing grin and the smallest bob of a blond head. If pressed, the only answer received is that “there is beauty in emotions, and none in bitterness.” When melancholy strikes, Caleb lets himself dwell for a bit before pulling himself out of it. Some feelings demand to be felt, and he much prefers reveling in them to bottling them up — the longer it’s delayed, the more volatile the explosion will be. He’s displaying such behavior, and in need of a distraction, we find him in an empty classroom with a transfigured piano because of it.
—
Caleb noted that the piano keys were cold to the touch as he danced her fingers across them. He wasn’t quite sure why he had expected anything but the chill and gave a small shrug in response. He slowly immersed himself and felt a transition to a lonely waltz flowing through his fingertips — complex and melancholy. He was taught many useless talents growing up, but took to the piano like a duckling to water. It was another thing that held his heart and attention, something that he could pour his whole being into. He had done just that until he heard distant footfalls but kept plunking out precious melodies. Caleb was nudged back towards reality when the footsteps entered the room and eventually lifted his head to take a quick glimpse of the visitor. With pursed lips, he slid down on the piano bench to make room should the guest choose to sit, glancing back at them once more with a quirked brow.

It’d be naive to think that when Australia was settled it was only by the Muggles, and it would also be wrong. During the course of it all, the Perthshires uprooted themselves from the UK in the mid 1800s and settled in, as well.
His wand is made of Eucalyptus, is 10.5 inches long, with Billywig Stingers as its core. Billywig stingers are not common in Britain, but are occasionally imported from Australia, the native habitat of the Billywig. Billywig wands bond almost exclusively to light-hearted pranksters, and are extremely capricious- at one moment it will produce the strongest Cheering Charm in the school, but another time it will object to being used as a potion stirrer and siphon up hours of work without so much as a by-your-leave.
Caleb is the type of person who always has something to say, but depending on his audience, he won’t always speak up. However, he can prattle on at great length about a myriad of topics if given the opportunity. For the most part, Caleb is a fairly positive person. He’s fond of letting others know how important they are, but if he’s swallowed up in a cloud of ennui, reciprocated gentleness and concern are more annoying than they are helpful. Sometimes he just needs to brood and get it out of his system, as everything usually works itself out in the end.
Although he is kind and loyal to his core, Caleb is anything but weak. He prefers to hold onto every shred of beauty and gentleness that surrounds him, but he won’t hesitate to abandon them and fight. He’s stubborn and strong willed, and will make his voice heard and take a stance if deemed necessary. He has the patience of a Saint, and will try his very hardest to keep it together and just take deep breaths but oh my god when he does finally lose his temper the wrath of god overcomes him and shit goes down.
Come morning, Caleb’s bed looks like a war has been fought there. It appears like his tossing and turning involves a routine of somersaults, leaving him to untangle himself from the sheets each morning. Though he starts curled on his side, he somehow ends up sprawled out like a starfish.
Caleb’s body is scattered with small scars collected in his childhood, though the majority linger around his knees and elbows. In his youth, days were deemed failures unless he was chased inside for the evening with a new bruise or scrape and a story to explain it.
