hello hello! rare non-art post from me! if you've been a longtime follower of me you know i LOOOOVE LOVE LOVE be more chill!!! i was at the be more chill 10th anni concert last night and while everyone's talking about the expensive headphones moment- understandably, i was wheezing- i'd like to share some other highlights for those that can't make it!
(and putting it under a read more for anyone whos attending the show and wants to go in blind!)
for starters, i need to stress-- george and gerard finish 'guy i'd kinda be into' and IMMEDIATELY IT LAUNCHES INTO PITIFUL CHILDREN. i was still wheezing. people were still coming down from the kiss. i barely realized it was pitiful children until like 2 lines in. there was no time to recover or process it was just NEXT SONG GO GO GO GO
ojason sweettooth williams opened the show as mr reyes and greeted us as the returning class of middleborough high 2015, said jake dillinger could not attend because he followed in his parents footsteps and became a money launderer. he then went on to say how much this show means to everyone on stage and spoke about it with such passion that i teared up.
explained how it was a dressed down, concert version of bmc, with a Hint of choreography, so it was really nice to see everyone do the main 'more than survive' dance during the na na nas.
joe iconis said he was worried people who came to show actually hated it after all this time then realized how stupid it was to buy a ticket for something you hate and boo it all night long.
eric said jason tam couldn't be here because "i locked him in my basement."
everyone screamed for characters introductions but especially when george came out for michaels entrance in MTS. understandably.
morgan did this really funny bit at the beginning of play rehearsal where she sang the beginning-- "i love play rehearsal, because its the best! because it is fun. .............." and then the music stopped and she walked away and sat back down like she was done with the song LMAOOOO
interspersed throughout the show, the cast would share memories, personal anecdotes, and so on from their time in the show be it the TR or Bway- OR they just shared how lucky they felt to be apart of something that resonates with so many people the way bmc does for us. george, lauren, and jason gave speeches like this and they all teared up/cried and so did i!!!!!!
some of the funnier cast memories imo were from will and eric. eric told the story of how he did an entire show on an edible (accidentally) (he ate 2 slices of pot cake and didn't know it the whole time and was just having a panic attack thru the whole show until like 2 days later gerard mentioned the cake was full of pot and eric was lile "........ITS WHAT") and will told the story of the "will roland catches bootlegger at bmc" video LMFAO
during "do you wanna ride" lauren got on the ground for brookes long exaggerated pi-i-i-iiink in pinkberry and rolled her hips so many times that she stopped, looked at the audience, and said "im a mother now" to which we all screamed and clapped. shes literally mother.
during "do you wanna hang" after katlyn sang "get inside my diaper boy", she looks at the audience and goes "because im dressed as a baaabyyy heeere". then there was that music riff and instead of the final 'its not actually milk' she GROWLED "RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES" and when i tell you everyone was SHRIEKING!!!!
amina faye!!!!! from love in hate nation!!!!! was here!!!!! for jenna rolans track!!!!! and she was brilliant!!!!!! smartphone hour anima faye was INCREDIBLEEEE
LAUREN STILL HAD A BANANA THAT SHE ATE AND THREW OFFSTAGE FOR SMARTPHONE HOUR LMFAO
JOE ACTUALLY PLAYED THE CUT SONG "TOUCHING MY HAND" WITH JASON AND LAUREN. CRAZY
gerard still absolutely slays squip song, hes clearly having a grand fucking time with it 10 years later. the memory he shared with everyone was during a show at 2R, he and george were background mall characters during BMC PT1 and said how one day when theyre pantomiming in the bg, george says in his old gay rich mall character voice "i rolled my ankle, i need to go" and gerard thought it was a bit until george stressed it WASNT so he helped him offstage, sat him with his ankle up and iced while the show went on. he goes on to say how yknow at the end of upgrade jeremys supposed to block michael and the lights go off then back on and michaels GONE. well. because of georges ankle, when the lights came back on, george was still hobbling off LMFAO
guys they clearly all love this show to death. several times they all stated how grateful they were to have this passionate and dedicated community after all these years-- especially when everyone was so bummed the 2R run didn't initially take off when they all hoped and believed it would-- and theres still new fans discovering and loving it. george said he was doing untitled unauthorized hunter s thompson musical and saw a kid in a michael mell hoodie in the front row. never let there be any doubt that the cast and creatives don't also love this show as much as we do.
