Here’s my NES library, about a month after starting out.
The end of a busy work week is rewarded by some fun retro finds!
A few more games came in today. The library keeps on growing…
I didn’t have an NES yet when PowerFest ‘90 and the Nintendo World Championships were going on. There was a stop in Hartford, CT that a friend and I thought about driving to, but that fell through.
It’s a lifelong regret.
I do have this related piece of NWC history, though, which I treasure: The Nintendo World Championships Guide, right from the show floor. While it’s more of an advertising vehicle for the game publishers who were showing their stuff at PowerFest, there is a nice two-page overview of the event.
I think today was a successful game-hunting adventure.
Here’s a look at my Retro Room, where my older video games and consoles are.
I saved these from my days working at FuncoLand in 1999. I’m thinking about putting these on the walls in my Retro Room.
Some more NES games arrived today! Up to 134 carts now— and the shelves are close to full…
My GxTV is the cornerstone of my “retro” gaming space. Despite the small screen size and awkward width (because of the speakers), it’s a solid CRT with both RF and RCA input options and strong sound powered by two swing-out speakers and a built-in subwoofer.
I run my NES through the RF/coaxial connection and, yes, it’s set to Channel 3. Additionally, the TV has an option to convert single-channel mono sound so that it outputs through both speakers.
The Nintendo Game Keeper booklet was, at one time, a Nintendo Power subscriber exclusive.
Let’s take a look and see what’s inside…
5 more NES games arrived today in a birthday-edition mail call. I’m up to 116 carts now.
I began putting together an NES library in mid-April 2026, after spotting a top-loading console at a local video game store. In the 7 days that followed, my collection expanded from one shelf to two— and the total number of games has eclipsed 100.
There’s more to weather forecasting than looking at an operational model run and taking it at face value.
Yes. Models agree that an intense storm will take shape off of Eastern seaboard. Where it goes and where its effects will be felt are a ways from locking in.
So Dynasty Warriors Origins finally clicked for me. After fighting with the evade command the last few times I tried, this time I kinda got what the game was going for. I played it for 8 hours today alone— a rarity for me, given my short gaming attention span.
I literally can’t get out of my house. All ways in/out are buried, and snow drifts don’t allow doors to open out. As much as I want to start cleanup, I’m trapped.
Yeah, I’m never getting out of my house again.
So, yeah. Snowmegeddon, Part 1. Expecting another monster nedt weekend.
