okay so i went full unhinged research mode on dog food last night and here's what nobody tells you 🧵

your dog does NOT need a 47-ingredient kibble with quinoa and blueberry extract. what they actually need is a food where a named protein (like chicken, beef, or salmon — not just "meat") is listed as the very first ingredient. that one simple thing matters more than the entire rest of the label.

also!! the AAFCO statement at the bottom? the one everyone ignores? it tells you whether the food was actually feeding-trial tested vs. just formulated on paper. "feeding trials conducted" hits different than "formulated to meet" and yes i will die on this hill.

and if your dog has a shiny coat, consistent energy, normal poops (you know what normal looks like, we're all friends here), and a healthy weight — the food is probably working. you don't need to switch every three months because a brand dropped a new "ancestral blend."
