Miharu figured that he did something wrong when the other person’s expression turned sad, though he wasn’t really sure what he did. When she pushed the scarf back to him, he just nodded slightly and put it back on, covering his mouth partly and if someone was to look carefully, a small smile appeared before it disappeared just as suddenly as it came. He made a mental note to wash it and return it to the girl as soon as possible, and to do that he should ask where he should return it too…though would the girl want to give a stranger her address? Well, Miharu could figure that out later.
Especially since the girl was partly bowed and seemed to be lecturing him about something. He was a bit slow to tune into what the other was saying, but he heard something about being careful, the weather, and his parents. Miharu nodded again, but didn’t say anything else for a bit. The other was probably saying how he should have been more careful in such a bad weather, but he couldn’t quite think of a reason she would mention his parents.
She most likely did not know about his parents, but then why bring them up? It was strange because Miharu didn’t really remember anything about his parents. Was it bad of him that he barely even remembered their faces? People always told him that it was natural to not remember much about them because he was so young and it must have been stressful for him to have to deal with his parents death…but Miharu sometimes wondered about that…
Maybe…he was wrong to forget them? He saw pictures of them…but he couldn’t really remember them. Sometimes, if he tried he could remember bits about them, and he strangely felt something in his chest when he thought about them…but then he would move on to something else. For a couple of reasons. It was oddly hard to stay indifferent when thinking about them. If he tried to remember something, would he be different? It was an admittedly scary thought…and Miharu didn’t want to stray from how he was now…And, as bizarre as it sounded, he felt like he shouldn’t.
So, instead of commenting about his parents, he chose to ignore that portion and didn’t try to make out what she had said. He instead focused on the girl again as she had a confused expression as she tried to think if she knew where his apartment was. When she had said she didn’t hear of the Daffy Apartments, Miharu would have just started to try to find any place that he could stay until he warmed up, when the other spoke up again.
"U-Um… By any chance do you mean Daffodil apartments..?"
"Ah…" Miharu nodded. "That was what it was called…" Or well, that was what it was probably called. He thought that Daffy was correct, but since the other mentioned Daffodil it sounded right too… Well, if it was wrong he could just try again, right? …Or not, Miharu thought as he sneezed and shivered again as a gust of wind blew past them. Well, it might be bad if he stayed outside much longer, but Daffodil might be right and it was worth a shot…right?
"…Could you show me where that place is?" Miharu asked, the other seemed willing to help. He thought about giving her a pitiful expression, just to ensure she would help, but he was too cold to try to pull up any acts of his. He just wanted to go back home…
