i get sad when people oversimplify Robin's character or overlook her as "just a good girl" or "the popstar" because she's the one with the biggest mask. and that's saying something because she's in Penacony for god's sake where every character is masking, not what they seem, switch up or all three😭 she's literally underestimated both in universe and out

i'm specifically talking about her idealism and how that's often a signifier of her being naive </3 this is why Gopher Wood, well-intentioned as he was, chalks her view in the dove cutscene as "romantic" but builds up Sunday's more "realistic" view </3

but when we think about it Robin is the most realistic out of everyone 😭 we know this. her optimism, idealism, hope is anything BUT unrealistic because this is the girl that chose to travel away from the dreamscape, go into warzones and get shot for it, comfort kids who lost everything in the midst of famine by teaching them songs. while Sunday chose to stay in the dreamscape to cope she encouraged him to go out of it once in a while to taste real food. this is seen even with her element - physical harmony - while her brother is imaginary harmony.

and speaking of her brother, it's not one side is better than the other 😭these two are two sides of the same coin. Robin KNOWS the world isn't as beautiful as she wants it to be while Sunday sought to rebuild the world anew. she understood why he wanted to do it and he acknowledges that he failed her.

in the end the 'right answer' isn't simple and Robin isn't simple either 😭 she has such a good character who pretends to smile for her fans despite feeling deeply sorrowful about this world and the way it failed her and her family. despite that, she still sings of hope. fuck man. despite everything let's have hope and do those 'inessential' things like sing. that's what her character signals to me.

#this is why they made Acheron call Robin a 'strong woman' because that means smth coming from her. it wasn't random. Robin's strong will #and desire for hope to never die out is so integral #hopecore is the gritty truth embraced for all its flaws and the 'despite that' always ringing out #despite that ugliness in this world it cant be blotted out with a pen. the way Sunday tried to blot it out #and thats peak #aishi.docx #hsr #robin
