Carmaker Tata Motors has recently launched its premium hatchback Bolt at the Auto Expo 2014 in Delhi which is based on its popular Vista platform. This five door car will be able to seat five passengers due to spacious rear which has wide seats. Though its styling and base structure is like the Vista the car’s interiors and exteriors are designed in a completely different manner and car is powered by Tata’s new Revontron petrol engine which was developed by its engineers.   Since its size is slightly bigger than existing Vista, the Tata Bolt will be placed in same range as Indigo and will be available in petrol version with price range of 4 – 6 lakhs.

Engine Performance – The Tata Bolt will be powered by 1.2 liter Revontron petrol engine which will also have five speed manual transmission option while its diesel engine will have 1.3 liter Quadrajet engine. Its powerful engine has displacement capacity of 1198cc along with impressive mileage of 16.32 – 19 kmpl.  Though the manufacturer has still not announced the likely variants which will be available in India the engine has output capacity of 83.83 bhp with maximum torque of 140 Nm. Engine power and transmission strength helped by four cylinders enables the car to accelerate from 0 – 100 within 18 seconds and reach cruising speeds of 140 kmph with a payload of 425 kgs.

Nissan Sylphy Sedan slightly bigger than Sunny

Japanese carmaker Nissan has exported the Slyphy previously sold as Bluebird across Europe and other south-east Asian markets with limited success. The car was sold in Indonesia and Philippines as Nissan Sentra between 2002 and 2004 but after it stopped production of this model in Japan it continued to be sold in Australia and New Zealand with a new name Pulsar. Though first offered as a four door sedan, the Nissan Pulsar was later offered as a five door hatchback. The third generation of Nissan Slyphy is being introduced in India during 2014 and simultaneously in 120 nations, was first showcased in 2012 Beijing Auto Show with aerodynamic body design and newly styled headlamps. Since its size is slightly bigger than existing Nissan Sunny, the Sylphy will be placed between Teanna and Sunny and will be available in petrol version with price range of 12 – 14 lakhs.

Engine Performance – The Nissan Sylphy will be fitted with 1.8 liter petrol engine which will also have six speed manual transmission system with CVT gearbox for better output. However it may also get a diesel engine similar to Renault’s 1.5 liter K9K diesel engine which is also present on Renault Fluence. Limited edition of 'Ghost' by Rolls Royce at Rs 4.66 crore

Luxury carmaker Rolls Royce is keen on expanding its portfolio in India and has recently launched limited edition of its “Ghost” model at Rs.4.66 crores. Though the model has been present in local markets for some time now, this limited edition will have a new 6.6 liter V12 engine with Ghost’s streamlined body which will be a powerful combination. This model is named as “Ghost –V Specification” and is priced 30 lakhs more than existing model as its wheelbase is larger and it has been entirely hand crafted. The Rolls Royce Ghost was first produced in 2009 and presented at Shanghai Auto Show at a price range lower than existing models to make their range affordable to a larger section of buyers.

Over the years the car has undergone four upgrades with the last one done in 2013 as an Art Deco Collection Ghost followed by Alpine Trail centenary collection model. During launch of this new limited edition model, CEO of Rolls-Royce stated that this car is greatly admired by both men and women power brokers and change makers in the line of politics and business. Its acceleration power despite its size enables it to move from zero to 100 kmph within 5 seconds and reach top speeds of 250 kmph. Besides being proud possessions of maharajas and business magnates the car is also owned by bigwigs in the entertainment industry.

The limited edition “Ghost” will exist alongside extended wheelbase “Ghost” and is made of steel with high tensile strength. Its platform is similar to BMW’s 7 series sedan and shares around 20 percent of similar parts. The limited edition V-specification Ghost has similar power capacity as previous ones with displacement capacity of 6592cc and maximum torque of 780 Nm.
