About a year and a half in of having Ronco (you can read more about him here) we and by we I mean I started to think Ronco needed a partner to play with him, someone who wasn’t human, sure we could take him out every day and we could play and do a lot of things together but never like another dog would; so it was my argument since that point on until the day we got her, a little less than a year after.
MAIA is a female brindle boxer, she is 4 years and 3 months at the time I’m writing; and boy she is a force not to be wrecked with… complete oposite side of Ronco, like their color.
Everything with her was different, we knew how to train a dog now, we also had a trained dog who was the best teacher in the world, and on top of all that we got a boxer who is really loud and makes sure you know her every need, again complete oposite of Ronco, you can see more pictures of them together here.
She is the VERY cuddly type, since day one she was crying to get in the bed with us, this has not changed, her tail has a life on its own, some of our friends call her the ‘U’ or ‘conchita’ because that is literally her shape when she is happy or exited which is almost all the time.
Sadly Maia is not that friendly, she is a little protective of us, including her very friendly partner in crime Ronco, and will want to find out everything about the new friend before playing nice; I would not say she is aggressive, we can take her out to events, parks, the vet, etc… her attitude is just a very big contrast with Ronco.
Maia is a fetcher with about everything, but her leash or collar, she loves to bring you the ball, and she is courageous!, a few months back we went to a Doggie Pool event (you can see the story here) and she jumped in to the water quite a few times, becoming the diver of the hour, we were super proud of her.
As she is not that friendly and doesn’t care much for anybody but her pack, is easy to walk her and be in crowded places with her; she is very curious and smart, she will look in to a problem and look at it until she has made up a solution, then she tries until getting it done, usually her methods include stomping and using her paws.
She isn’t very stubborn, at the contrary she loves pleasing you, all the time, and if she doesn’t do something is either because she doesn’t like it (like putting some fabrics in her mouth) or she hasn’t learned yet.
With her we got the hyper active gen and she doesn’t stop, she is somehow careful of the furniture, and considerate to the beds, he has no care at all for toes and hands, it's not that she doesn't mind, it's just like I said her tale has a life on its own, and she can't always get a hold of it.
