I took a bunch of "What Animal am I?" Quizzes as the petshop cast to decide what animals they should ACTUALLY be.

Rex: Fox. I think he would be really cute as a silver or black fox.

Faline: Zebra. Stripes are the only constant.

Louie: Dog. Maybe he could be a... rat terrier.

Meneka: Dolphin. As bizarre as this is, I think it fits. Just... how would she look?

Claudia: Owl. Yeah... being nocturnal would in no way affect her life, since she stays up all night watching soap operas anyway.

Lloyd: Lion. Well then... I also can't imagine Lloyd as anything other than a frog.

Fifi: Bird. They were really vague, despite their being a ton of birds that exist, so I assume they meant some kind of small songbird.

I sketched some designs...

Rex as a fox is cute. Faline as a zebra is also cute.

I somehow forgot how to draw Louie, which made him look wacky. But good dog. Dolphin Meneka was surprisingly fun to draw.

Owl Claudia is super cute. Wings suit her. Lion Lloyd doesn't look at all like him. May have to redraw that. Because bird was really vague, I chose a silky chicken for Fifi, because floof. Unfortunately, it didn't look as cute as I'd hoped. I may have to try that again as well.

Would y'all actually be horribly disturbed if I made horror content featuring the petshop gang? Because I've run out of slice of life stuff. It's either spoops or melodrama.

I was thinking about Petshop and I imagined a story where a drug is introduced that makes predators want to eat people. Like zootopia, I guess. And the villains behind it are targeting kids to test it on. And basically it goes from high-school slice-of-life to "we could end up murdered by our own classmates, or worse... lose self-control and end up EATING EACH OTHER"

I don't think I'd ever make this story, since it is way more intense than Petshop ever was, but tbh it is not the most disturbing idea I've had and then disregarded.

(But there is a moment where Louie has to defend himself against his old friend... who is a cobra. And where somebody slips the substance into Fifi's swimming pool at her birthday party, which... is traumatic.)

Meanwhile Lloyd is like "I live, eat and breathe slasher films. I got this." And leads the other (older) kids to safety.

I also fixed Louie because, while I like the general vibe he was giving I didn't like how he didn't have glasses and he looked a tad too old. (Like much too old. Louie is seventeen. He baby)

I still love the expression, like he knows something you don't. Love it.

This one has its own plusses and drawbacks, but I do think it more accurately shows how he looks, at the age of seventeen at least. And look! Glasses!

Oh, but the Rex I made in Artbreeder had been bothering me, since... He doesn't look like Rex but at the time, that's as good as I could manage to make it. But Just... This guy isn't Rex.

SO I remade him!

THE LAD!!!

I found the old comics of Petshop and the plot was... Very different then.

Rex and Faline weren't friends and Rex actually hated her. Faline was a bit of a yandere, stalking him obsessively and the gimmick was that every episode was Rex trying a new way to evade her.

And then Lloyd showed up.

He became Rex's rival and the only one Faline found more enticing than Rex. So the two of them start dating (since Lloyd doesn't know she's kind of creepy) and Rex begins to get jealous of this and attempts to win Faline back, eventually culminating in Rex kidnapping Lloyd, tying him up in their school and blowing up the entire building with all of the other students inside, aside from him and Faline, whom he kidnaps. Then, as the smoke clears a single figure stands, unharmed among the rubble. Lloyd. He beats up Rex, rescues Faline and the comic reverts into it's status quo.

This was all when I was like, ten.

Petshop gang's Among Us playstyles:

Rex: Spams 'where' whenever a body is found. Accuses people of self reporting.

Faline: 'Don't you dare call a meeting while I'm doing my TASKS!!!' Cannot lie to save her life.

Claudia: Has to check the map every second. Surprisingly good at misdirection and deceit.

Louie: Follows people to stay safe, but ends up getting accused of chasing them. Is ALWAYS caught after a kill.

Fifi: 'I have Med-Scan!' Loves to sabotage.

Lloyd: Will accuse people for BREATHING. Vent gremlin.

Meneka: is a really good detective and manages to find the most likely suspect. Self reports too often for her own good.

also guitars are a pain to draw. why did I create a character who's in a band?!?!

I think I'm going to copypaste that guitar whenever possible, since I don't want to redraw it rip and I don't like Rex in that hoodie, I think plaid jackets are more his thing.

Faline: Kiss Lloyd, marry Rex and kill Louie.

Louie: I WASN'T EVEN AN OPTION!

Rex: No offence, but I really need to start hanging out with people my own age.

Faline: We're the same age.

Rex: Mentally, you're like eight.

Faline, with French fries sticking out of her mouth like a walrus: How can you say that?

Louie's real name, Louis is pronounced the same as Louie, so the only difference is the spelling. Most people spell it Louie though, so that's why most people know him as Louie. He is considering having it legally changed when he becomes an adult.

Louie's Dad: LOUIS JACOB!

Louie: Oooh! Someone's in TROUBLE!

Louie: It's me

Louie: I don't know why I said that.

Rex: But we can't tell anyone yet.

Faline: I only told Meneka.

Meneka: And I only told Claudia.

Claudia: I've been live streaming this whole thing.

Louie's Dad: Son, I know what you did yesterday and I want to talk about it.

Louie: Okay, I'm sorry, but Lloyd SAID I couldn't drink all that shampoo and I proved him wrong!

His Dad: Not about that, it's the- YOU DRANK SHAMPOO?!

Faline: What are you doing?

Rex: Making a protein shake.

Faline: Out of a package of mac and cheese?
