even a dose of easy-does-it friendship straight to the veins can't fix whatever broke in her today. (when in doubt, just go find daon)— it's critical, there's some spring loose. knocked aside by a stupid boy she didn't even like and just said yes to because she always gives everyone a chance. because she feels bad saying no. and then what happens? same thing as usual; a month later (if that), they're kicking her out the car they invited her into. so it's hardly her fault that nam yerin is walking down the ninety-9 creative halls with daggers for eyes and an aura so tempered-toxic it's almost pathetic (or deadly), really. she's a melted candle, she's a sad little star and like sad little stars do, she crashes right into the world—
she rounds a corner and collides directly someone with a little sound of surprise that's only diffused pitifully when she looks up, lands eye contact— and then sighs. a heavy, shifty sound, as she takes a step back away from him, then another.
iseul. how can a man be so constant, so forever... what kind of man keeps his every promise? every one? really... her gaze is depleted already, a confliction in their depths as they feel an equal stab of comfort at just his presence.
there are sounds all around here in the company halls. makeup and costume staff gathered outside of a meeting room door just 15ft feet away really. right over iseul's shoulder- she can see them already staring. (not the staring...)
"oh, iseulie. we should just talk later, alright?" she says it, as though they had talked at all lately, and like she had some intention to reach out. she gazes into his dark eyes and wonders what road they'll take. reasonable, friendly communication or whatever that other thing was that they often stubbed their toes on like a bedpost, whenever they both felt too much too strongly at the same times. (she has a sneaking suspicion she knows already.)
another day, another chance to haunt the company hallways. despite it being an off morning without a schedule, iseul finds himself feeling exhausted after spending a few hours holed up in the vocal room, running through warm ups and practicing before his lesson. that was a few hours ago, and iseul as usually got carried away, his growling stomach the first sign of how much time had passed.
now, iseul turns the familiar corners of the hallways, greeting staff members and dodging carts of makeup and costumes. he’s stuck between choosing stew or kimbap when something or rather someone knocks right into him. surprised, iseul stumbles slightly and reaches out to grab the other person, stabilizing both of them. his hands only fall once he realizes it’s yerin. perfect timing, he thinks to himself, smile already stretching across his face as he moves to invite her to lunch, words getting caught in his throat as he hears her heavy sigh before watching her take a few steps away from him.
he blinks confused, as he runs through his memories of the last few times they’d crossed paths struggling to remember if he’d done or said anything that would have pissed her off or upset her. it would be hard to forget the history between them, the rocky road they’ve had since deciding to become friends once their relationship ended. although what they were to each other changed, that didn’t mean that iseul didn’t care about her, in fact he probably cared too much about her.
something's off, wrong, iseul could see it in her shoulders, the way she holds her body. something has made her angry or upset her and honestly iseul should probably just let her go, walk away from him and try to reach out later. but when has iseul ever done what he was supposed to? instead of biting his tongue, he reaches out, hand gently grasping her wrist.
“what’s wrong?” that was not what he had meant to ask; instead he had meant to lead in with something else. but in front of his friends and loved ones, iseul has always struggled to don the mask that he does with the fans and the media. instead, he lets his real personality flicker through, still upbeat but less filtered and way more emotional.
everything else around them seems to fall away and iseul forgets where he is, instead his entire focus narrows down on yerin. “where are you going?”
