I’m graduating from high school this June and my senior project examines the presence of sexism in the “geek” subculture and its works. As a successful male in an industry that is typically labelled “geeky,” do you see misogyny in your surroundings, and if so, what (if anything) do you do to combat it, and what can we as a community can do to stop it?

 if you scroll down my archive you will see my lengthy and frustrated thoughts on this. well-documented. the headline is that there is sexism everywhere it’s just doubly disgusting among people who have dedicated their lives to these characters and stories that clearly represent a higher morality.

 when you see people who are inundated with things like sexist beer commercials and whatever crap is on Spike TV all day you can see how sexism would be part of their language. I don’t excuse it I just see where stupid comes from…

 what I don’t understand is how you read Spiderman or Capt. America and don’t try to live up to those higher ideals? how you read the X-Men and  go out of your way to treat other people like crap?   how you have read these comics and completely miss the point is beyond me?

 but I’m glad you’re writing about this and I’m so sorry that there is so much for you to talk about in your paper… especially over the last couple of weeks.

 what I do to fight it is try to live by example… in my work and in real life for my daughters. I try to write characters, real characters of all sexes and races as flawed, well-rounded and lived human beings because the world I live in is filled with real, well-rounded, flawed people of all sexes and races

and for your reference for your paper my best examples would be Miles Morales, Takio, and Scarlet

If you felt like the “Forever Evil” story arc was dragging on a bit, then perhaps you should sit down. Originally #7 was slated to come out next week on March 26th, but now we’ll have to wait TWO MORE MONTHS.

Today though we can see on the DC Comics official website that the final issue of “Forever Evil” is going to come out on May 21st, ugh.

And that’s not all, other issues have slipped back…
