Richard Z. Kruspe Red Band

This is something I’ve never seen mentioned on Tumblr, and no one really talks about it. Richard used to wear a red armband as part of his costume. According to legend and history, he started wearing it because of the tension with Paul and as a way to show that he was the lead guitarist. It was last seen in 2019, the year he grew closer to Paul. After that, a different Richard seemed to appear much happier, less stressed, glowing, and completely enamoured with Paul.

I still think he removed his red armband as a sign of love for Paul and to show that they are now equals.

This is another one of my favourite moments — the stargazing kiss.

1st gif: Paul is trying to be in his evil guitarist mode, while Richard prefers to rest his head on Paul’s shoulder. Paul already loses his evil look and smiles a little.

2nd gif: If there were a competition for Richard’s number one fan and our opponent was Paul, we would all lose. Paul just decides it’s the perfect moment to admire Richard as if he were the eighth wonder of the world.

3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gifs: They’re in their own world.

7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th gifs: Paul is trying to understand what Richard wants to do. He looks at him and sees Richard gazing at something in the sky — Richard is showing him. Paul takes a look, but then Richard decides it’s his turn to lovingly look at Paul.

Then, the look they share is just pure love and happiness — the kiss makes perfect sense.

We can really see the “Paul effect” on Richard; he’s just glowing.

Sometimes I'm wondering if the pointing fingers means something because how much are they doing it.

But what I love in this one is:

Paul: Guys look at my husband singing this his moment and he sings wonderfully.

Richard: But also look at the my husband being very handsome.

This is one of my favourite moments because we see the clear difference between old Richard and new Richard, and the evolution of the relationship between the guitarists. Old Richard would have ignored Paul, kept his distance from him, and looked straight ahead, just running to his place once the intro was done.

But here, we can clearly see that something is wrong with Richard — he’s acting very closed off and lost in his own world. Paul, being his wall that he can lean on, looks at him worried. He tried to do something earlier, but Richard rejected him. So now, Richard makes the first move and pats Paul’s head, showing him that he has no problem with him. Then Paul smiles, happy that there’s nothing between them anymore.

In the 5th gif, Paul says something that clearly brings comfort to Richard, because he smiles — only for Paul — before going back into his own world.

And the small headbutt is as intimate as the kiss; it also shows great affection from Richard toward Paul for doing this.

I love how they are talking about something related to them because how Christoph is in the middle trying to exist but not exist, like he is trying to be in the conversation but then he is oh my god my earplug is bad let's move it a little.

Now I want a shopped version of the Jaul & Ponas photo with a jealous Richard in the background and a fanfic to go with it. There is potential, right?

Yes, there absolutely is potential. The Pre-Rammstein time actually had Paul and Richard working together a lot, with sounds and in the wydock studio that they build together in aljoshas squat. And there was so cold that Richard could not properly record guitars for ODG so that instead of guitar solo they thought oh why not just add bagpipes here.

"I liked how he thought about music. We completed eachother", Richard said about making ODG recordings with Paul. And I want to believe this account that Richard actually played a gig for Feeing B when Paul was sick!

And look, how Paul made Richard take over his place in Die Firma as Tatjana all the time complained about how Paul is always away for Feeling B and has no time for both bands. And in this rare ODG interview Richard also said that in the end Paul had also no time for finishing the mixing. So I can picture jealous Richard very well. Paul had many people to be with and many bands to play in - i counted total 15 projects he been part in at pre-Rammstein time :D He was a little missile.
