The Transcendental Flight of Aiya
When he died, Aiya remained alive in the corporeal realm. Her parents wondered where she’d disappear to at times, though.
One day her mother saw her leaving their cottage and then taking flight.
She spread her beautiful white wings and moved like she was swimming in the sky, dancing in her pink gown, dipping and rising as she crossed the bridge to the Garden. Her mother followed. She was surprised to see the thing that people don’t see, something which meant Aiya’s vision was not fictitious.
There she was talking to him. And between them was their child whom they both held. Her mother’s gaze lifted to see a more confounding image: two women, Aiya’s former lovers, sat atop the garden gate.
One day Aiya was nervous to cross the bridge and caught the hand of a man who liked her. He carried her to the other end.
They became friendly over time and he felt emboldened to propose to her. He took her to meet his family as one of his potential brides.
The other two candidates eventually gave up.
They became accepting of Aiya, and so the man proposed.
She considered the marriage, especially as she viewed the relationship of his parents.
They were not in love but they were truly family. When war broke out in their country and it was likely they would all die, they huddled together, choosing death as one. Even if his father didn’t like his mother very much she was his wife no matter what.
It was due to this that the love was revived, raising its head up from the ground like a curious seedling 🌱 whose roots tasted blood.
It was in bloodshed that they felt their marriage’s heartbeat.
Aiya looked at the gates, and decided she would accept the proposal. She understood that nothing was lost. She could move with time in the world it ruled, and fly outside of time when she was called to.
But then he appeared walking through the gates,
and stood before her. She touched his face and felt his flesh.
- a dream of sel on Oct 7.
Before the Dream:
I saw the image of the girl ensconced by the raven. I knew it was the image I was seeking. Then, I wanted to have a name that would complement it. I thought of Raven, but then the word “Aiya” came to me.
When I searched for what it meant, I was surprised to see it meant bird, verse, evidence, miracle. It was meant to be chosen.
And then, days later, I had this dream of Aiya’s flight.
