Electro done right. Much hotness. 

I especially like the extended outro, a somewhat unexpected gear shift which escalates into a frenzy. With a song this strong and it’s now evident, growing mainstream appeal, many artists would perhaps just have simply just cut out and leave the song at a crisp 3 and a half minute mark. Not here. Great call.

Something I knocked up for a road trip to Cornwall, early Summer 2015. Mostly consisting of choice cuts from the decade when you could pull off burgundy flares without anyone choking on their cocktail cherry. No complaints from the two ladies riding up front, so job done.    Note: Despite the announcement, the second track is not actually by Townes Van Zandt. We’ll get you next time, Mr Van Zandt.

Publicist is the solo, electronic project of Sebastian Thomson of Trans Am. Sebastian sets up his drums in the middle of the dance floor, sequencing the rest of the arrangements. Cue sunglasses and strobes.  Once had the pleasure of sharing a billing with the short-lived Project Neptune.

Point Break OST

Point Break OST - Mark Isham

Eclipsed by the memorable lines, performances and hyper-realism, this wonderful hybrid score was, according to Isham, his first ‘real’ excursion utilising an orchestra with Bigelow initially envisioning a full electronic score. 

The synthesizers only evoke more charm, especially juxtaposed with the incredible tidal brass arrangements that ebb and swell. Majestic and imaginative, Isham helps conjure up the ocean, the sky & the adrenaline as central characters alongside the cast. 

The soundtrack is out of print, and until someone re-releases it or asks me to take it down, you can grab it here. It makes for a good early a.m listen and you can almost smell the salt in the ocean.
