THE INFINITY GEMS Theory (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Update)
Theory by Kennedy
Published 2/6/14
When the arguably best superhero film of all time (so far), Marvel’s The Avengers, was released in theaters, it left audiences hanging at a cliffhanger. Specifically, this mid-credits scene cliffhanger.
The audience unfamiliar with Marvel Comics would be sitting at home, wondering who the mysterious blue-eyed purple dude was at the end of the film (or they just didn’t really care). But we comic book geeks know exactly who it was. It was Thanos, the Mad Titan.
In the early 1990s, Thanos became one of the most powerful Marvel supervillains ever published. He was born into a beautiful race called the Titans, but was an outcast for his hideous wrinkly, purple complexion, making this his defining moment unto becoming evil. Later in his life, Thanos would fall in love… with Death. However, in the Marvel universe, Death was a physical being, like the mythological Grim Reaper, but Thanos saw her in the form of a beautiful woman.
Notice in the mid-credits scene of The Avengers, when “The Other” tells Thanos that to try and fight the Avengers again would be “to court death”. That’s when Thanos becomes interested. He stands, looks at the Other, and smiles. Make sense now?
So back to the comics, Thanos wanted to do anything he could to woo Death into his arms. He assumed that he needed to become the most powerful being in the entire universe. Therefore, he makes it his goal to gather a collection of six mysterious cosmic elements called Infinity Gems. Each gem is able to control a certain aspect of the universe (Space, Mind, Power, Reality, Time, Soul). When all six of these are together and used by one person, they practically make that person a god. They are able to control, manipulate, and change anything they want in the universe. So Thanos builds a gauntlet, collects all these gems, placing them onto the gauntlet, calling it THE INFINITY GAUNTLET.
And keep in mind, this is all because he is trying to get Death to fall in love with him. Eventually, an enormous collection of Marvel heroes (and even some villain) are gathered to try and stop Thanos and take away the Infinity Gauntlet. You can read this entire 1991 story arc called The Infinity Gauntlet. Here is a look at the most epic battle that has ever taken place in the history of the Marvel universe.
Looks insane, right? I mean that is practically everyone in the whole Marvel universe (Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the list goes on). There’s even some cosmic forces who are unfathomably the most powerful entities in the whole universe present, yet are still defeated by Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet.
The rumor is that this event will be the subject of the third Avengers film in Phase Three. Now, we highly doubt that it will be ALL of these guys who take part in the battle, because that would be impossible to film. Even so, the question on our minds is, how the hell are they going to make this movie?!
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we need to figure out the one thing that will make this event possible. The Infinity Gems. What are they and where are they? We can say for sure for half of the gems. As for the other half, that’s when the theories come in. Let’s get started.
THE INFINITY GEMS
We’ve already seen three of these in Phases One and Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The other three have yet to be accounted for. Let’s organize this in the order Marvel’s films have been and will be released.
SPACE
aka: The Tesseract
Appeared in: Thor (post-credits scene), Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers
The Space gem (Tesseract) is a cosmic element that enables one to open portals in space that may then be passed through (as seen in The Avengers). It made its first appearance in Thor, when Nick Fury asked Dr. Erik Selvig to be the leading scientist to study it. We later found out the Red Skull stole it from a Norse church during WWII and proceeded to harness its power to use as a weapon. After the Red Skull was defeated, the Tesseract was lost and soon found again by Howard Stark, co-founder of SHIELD. This is how the Tesseract came to be in their possession. In future events, Loki would make a deal with Thanos: If Loki retrieved the Tesseract for Thanos, Thanos would allow him to take control of Earth, but Loki ultimately failed. The Tesseract is now stored in Odin’s vault in Asgard.

MIND
aka: the gem in Loki’s staff, the Chitauri Scepter
Appeared in: The Avengers
The Mind gem allows one to inhabit and control another’s mind, disabling them from making their own decisions and bowing to the possessor’s every will. So far, we have only seen the Mind gem once on screen, when it was given to Loki by the Other (whom Thanos probably gave it to give to Loki). Thanos allowed Loki to borrow the gem in order to build a small command of mind-controlled minions on Earth. Two of these minions included Hawkeye and Dr. Selvig. While Hawkeye acted as Loki’s right-hand man and bodyguard, Selvig, who had been studying the Tesseract prior, was used to unleash the Tesseract’s full potential in order to open a hole in space for Loki/Thanos’s army to pass through and enslave Earth. But as we already know, this plan failed. The Mind gem combined with the Space gem (thanks to Black Widow) is what ultimately destroyed the portal linking Earth and the Chitauri army. We are not sure what happened to the staff or the gem. My guess is that SHIELD has them in their possession to continue studying it, just as Dr. Bruce Banner and Tony Stark were studying it earlier in the film. Now, there are still non-believers out there that think this is not the Mind gem/stone, but I am sticking to my belief until Kevin Feige and friends tell me otherwise.
POWER
aka: The Aether
Appeared in: Thor: The Dark World
The Power gem is a cosmic element that has the ability to turn matter into dark matter. In case you aren’t sure what dark matter is, it’s pretty much everything that’s nothing in space, if that makes sense. Where a planet or a star would be matter, all of the empty black space surrounding it would be dark matter. In Thor: The Dark World, the dark elf Malekith had a goal to revert the universe back to its original, dark state, before it even was the universe. Before the universe was born, the dark elves were the only thing in existence, and they lived in the dark nothingness. After the birth of the universe, they were unhappy with its visibility, along with all of the new life it had created, so they wanted to change it back. The only thing that could do that was the Aether (the Power gem). After Thor defeated Malekith, the Asgardians took the Aether with them…though they did not keep it with them.
Instead, they took it to a different part of space, fearing that two Infinity Gems (or “Infinity Stones” as Volstagg calls them) in the same location would be too dangerous (the Space gem already being in Asgard).
So they left it in the care of Taneleer Tivan, the Collector.
One of the oldest beings in the universe, he is infamous for having a large collection of items he has gathered from every corner of the universe throughout his very long life. He promises to keep the Aether safe in his Collection, until they leave and he states, “One down…five to go.” The next time we will see the Collector will be in Guardians of the Galaxy, coming out later this year. (Fun fact about the Collector: In the comics, he despises Thanos, so perhaps he is trying to gather the gems before Thanos does. Whether he will use them, we don’t know, but I doubt he has them in mind for a good cause.)
UPDATE: 8/4/14
Mind blown! It turns out this is the REALITY gem, as the Power gem was confirmed to be the stone in Guardians of the Galaxy by James Gunn on Twitter. Thinking back on it, this makes a lot more sense, considering the Aether turns the universe to darkness, basically ridding it of reality.
REALITY
aka: ?
Will appear in: Guardians of the Galaxy
Pictured above are Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Star Lord. Star Lord appears to be holding some mysterious orb. Could this be our next Infinity gem? Take a look at the official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy.
"From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which first appeared in comic books in MARVEL SUPER-HEROES #18 (Jan. 1969), stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. James Gunn is the director of the film with Kevin Feige producing, and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee serve as executive producers. The story is by Nicole Perlman and James Gunn, with screenplay by James Gunn. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” releases in U.S. theaters on August 1, 2014. In addition to “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on July 31, 2015.”
So it looks like our primary villain is Ronan the Accuser. This is how he looks in the comics.
In the comics, Ronan was part of an alien race called the Kree. Although he considered himself to be a neutral figure, he often had unorthodox methods when it came to getting what he wanted. For instance, he…accused a lot of people and tended be a violent guy. In the film, it looks like he’ll be hunting down Peter Quill (Star Lord) in order to take this orb from him. Maybe he wants it for his own selfish reasons, or maybe he’s trying to keep it safe from the hands of Thanos. We won’t know until August 1st. But putting all that aside, why would we think this is the Reality gem?
To be completely honest, we don’t know how this would tie in to the film’s plot. At least, not until we see it. We do, however, know what the Reality gem does. It basically enables you to change logic. For example, if you had control of it and you wanted to make up down, you could do it. You could make 2+2=5. The possibilities are infinite, hence why it is an Infinity Gem. So, does Ronan want this gem to always get his way when it comes to accusing and judging his adversaries, or does he just want to keep it out of evil’s reach?
UPDATE: 8/4/14 (SPOILERS!)
Okay, so as I said before, this is actually the Power gem, as we were told by James Gunn, so… yeah I f**ked up.
TIME
aka: ?
Will appear in:…Ant-Man?
After the first casting announcements of Ant-Man (Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang), people have been wondering if the two generations of Ant-Men will actually meet each other…in a different time. There has been a theory circulating the internet that the second Ant-Man will go back in time to the 1960s and team up with the first Ant-Man. If this is true, a very good possibility is that it will be done with the Time gem. The Time gem (obviously) has the ability to control, preview, and manipulate time. Although this theory is an interesting one, I don’t think this is what is going to happen.
The Time gem is an Infinity gem, meaning that it is one of the most powerful cosmic elements in the universe. Personally, I don’t think it would be used in one of the films only to travel back in time to meet a guy. It’s far too powerful to do something so simple. There is a recent comic book storyline that exists that features a great deal of time travel and time manipulation in it. The villain just “happens”to be Ultron, and the title of the arc also just “happens” to be…
Oh, and the next Avengers film just “happens”to be titled…
Now, granted, Marvel did say that they are not using the “Age of Ultron” storyline from the comics. I believe that. After all, for many issues, Wolverine and Invisible Woman are the main protagonists, whose characters’ rights are both owned by Fox (as of right now), but the main element in the story arc is time travel. Marvel, are you trying to tell us that one of the Infinity gems you still need to introduce is the Time gem, but you’re not following ANY of the story of the comic you named your next big movie after, even though it is a perfect opportunity for you to incorporate time travel? C’mon. Although Marvel says they aren’t following the storyline, they will probably borrow the concept of using Ultron and time travel together, and put it to use in their film, with the Time gem as the object of pursuit, adding yet another block to their cinematic universe.
and finally…
SOUL
aka: Adam Warlock’s gem
May appear in: Guardians of the Galaxy, or itssequel
According to the Marvel Wikia page, the Soul gem:
has a desire to collect souls
can attack another’s soul in various ways
can reveal information by peering into another’s soul
can trap souls inside itself in an idyllic world.
The gem’s wielder can access the memories and skills of those imprisoned within [limbo]
can revert beings to their natural state.
protects its wielder from soul-based attacks.
This infinitely powerful element is located in a very special and unique place. A place so epic and amazing. The Soul gem is…
On a guy’s forehead.
Yesterday, there was a rumor that a sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy would be one of Marvel’s Phase Three films, along with Ant-Man and a few other unannounced films. This film could be our official introduction to Adam Warlock. Adam Warlock is a biologically engineered attempt to create the perfect human being. He has a green gem on his forehead (seen above) that happens to be the Soul gem. And guess what…In the comics, Adam Warlock was part of the Guardians of the Galaxy at one time. And guess what else…he’s Thanos’s arch nemesis.
To change the origin of the gem would be crazy. That’s why we’re certain that Adam Warlock is bound to make an appearance in the MCU. Still need more evidence? In the comics, if Warlock is on the verge of death, he is able to regenerate inside a cocoon of his own creation.
Ladies and gentleman, Thor: The Dark World presents…Adam Warlock’s cocoon.
There it is. Sitting right in the Collector’s collection. Adam Warlock exists in the MCU and he will be coming…Coming to help defeat Thanos and take the Infinity Gauntlet, possibly developing the Infinity Watch.
BONUS:
THE INFINITY GAUNTLET
Appeared in: Thor
Is this the REAL gauntlet, or just a nod? After all, how could all of the gems be on it if they are scattered throughout the MCU? Perhaps it’s just a decoy.

Marvel's Phase 1 & 2 - A Look Back
We've been away for awhile due to our busy schedules, and haven't had the time to make any great posts. Just to show you guys we're still here, we wanted to share this awesome video that Marvel just posted (featuring Ultron and Thanos!)
Also, we want to let you guys know that we will be starting our podcast this month! We're super excited, and we hope you are too. Stay tuned!

Okay, so I've been getting a little bit of backlash for being incorrect about certain parts of my theories, and even have people unfollowing me. I just want to reiterate that I know I am never going to be 100% correct on any of my theories, and the people reading them should know that too. This is not something I am doing to try and show the world how knowledgable I am of the cinematic universe. I'm honestly just doing this for fun. So yes, I am going to be wrong most likely half the time, maybe more, but the fun of it is speculating, and I made this blog to speculate with all of you that way we can all express our own creativity in film-sleuthing... is that a term? "Film-sleuthing"...well it is now.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The GH-325 Theory [THE RIGHT OR WRONG REVIEW!]
Theory by Kennedy Kruger
Posted 3/5/14
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR AGENTS OF SHIELD, EPISODE 1.14, T.A.H.I.T.I.
If you haven’t seen the most recent episode, turn back now…
If you watched Agents of SHIELD last night, you know that we as the audience (as well as Coulson) came closer to uncovering the mysterious circumstances surrounding Agent Phil Coulson’s death and resurrection. The team infiltrated a secret SHIELD base to obtain a mysterious “medicine” known (or unknown) as GH-325, the same “medicine” that brought Coulson back to life. This was all in an attempt to save Skye’s life…but WHAT THE *** IS THIS?!
It appears as if the mysterious blue serum is pumped from this dead torso (gross), most likely blood, and it seems to regenerate and heal whomever the blood is injected into almost immediately. But who is this? What is this? I just might have a theory.
Could this be Herr Kleiser from the Ultimates comics?
Take a look at an excerpt from the Marvel Comics wikia page.
Herr Kleiser was the name used by a higher ranking Chitauri agent who was a part of a group who infiltrated Earth during World War II. He obtained this name and appearance by absorbing and devouring the identity of a Nazi officer, Herr Kameleon. Kleiser and his fellow Chitauris contacted the Nazi party and attempted to help them win the war by offering advanced technology. The Chitauri wished to utilize the Nazis to conquer Earth and impose “order”, erasing all individuality, which they saw as an aberration. Near the end of the war, Herr Kleiser faced Captain America, and was defeated not by brute force but by clever strategy and misdirection; Kleiser never forgot this humiliating defeat.
Now, in the comics, there is much more of a storyline for this guy. He comes back like Captain America, years later, and blah blah blah. But that’s the comics. We’re talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So why would I think that upper half of a body belongs to this guy? Well first off, one of this guy’s powers is that he can regenerate almost instantly, just like Coulson and Skye regenerated almost instantly when they were injected.
In the comics, the Chitauri were able to shapeshift. Joss Whedon decided not to include this element into The Avengers, knowing it would be too much, considering he had bigger fish to fry as far as the story and characters went, but Whedon never said that it wasn’t possible for the Chitauri to do this, only that he wasn’t going to include it in the film.
So, is it possible that a smaller group of Chitauri had infiltrated Earth during the days of Captain America? Absolutely! But why would they?
The Tesseract is what Loki and the Chitauri were after, and what they were ordered to bring back to their alien leader (Thanos). It’s very probable that they knew it had been on Earth long before the Avengers were. So they may have tried to take it once before, way back in World War II.
Think about it. More than anything, the Red Skull wanted the Tesseract. What easier way to take something from a Nazi/HYDRA officer than becoming a Nazi/HYDRA officer yourself? So this Chitauri shapeshifts into one. And there may have been some sort of off-screen relationship between him and the Red Skull. It’s even possible that Captain America battled him, not knowing what he truly was! But somehow, the newly-created SHIELD may have discovered the true identity of this alien in some way or another, and proceeded to conduct research on it. Eventually, they discovered how fast it could regenerate, leading them to believe they could improve the super soldier serum by adding instant regeneration to it.
And the recent promos of Agents of SHIELD: Uprising have been hinting a connection between the show and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Could this be the connection? After all, there are apparently going to be flashback scenes in the film, so maybe we will see this secret Chitauri agent in one of them.
THEORY UPDATE 6/7/14: OKAY YEAH THIS WAS SUPER FARFETCHED…capslock.
Obviously, this dude is a Kree, which many people had been speculating for a while. To be completely honest, I was writing that theory off because of Korath the Pursuer (who is Kree) from the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer wasn’t blue, but rather black, so I just assumed they would be making the Kree white, which I wasn’t too happy about.
But they’re going to be blue! Take a look at Ronan the Accuser.
So this is obviously a tie-in to GotG, which I am super excited for.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Theories [THE RIGHT OR WRONG REVIEW!]
Hello and Welcome to PHASE TWO AND BEYOND!
My name is Kennedy. I will be one of the frequent authors of this independent blog. Our other author, Adem, will be posting on a frequent basis as well. Our goal is to try and decipher the past, present, and future of superhero and sci-fi franchises, such as Marvel’s The Avengers, WB’s Justice League, Twentieth Century Fox’s X-Men, Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man, along with a variety of other films and television series. So let’s not waste any time. Our first subject of speculation is…
Theory by Kennedy
Published 2/3/14
THEORY STATUS UPDATE (6/7/14): Halfway there!
After the release of the Superbowl trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, there has been a lot of buzz about the film, as well as a lot of questions that we hardcore fans have. Here is the trailer to refresh your memory.
Real quick, just wanna say, holy balls I am excited for this movie. Anyway, perhaps the biggest question I have, personally, who is under the sheet?
Well, I may just have a probable theory. Let’s keep in mind that this is just speculation, and I could very well be wrong. I say that because I don’t want to look stupid if I am (but if I’m right, I’ll look like a genius. But I digress).
There has been the rumor of a death in the film, and a lot of people are thinking it might be the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury. This is mainly because in the first trailer, we saw Fury on an operating table.
As for why seems to be revealed in the newest trailer. It appears that the Winter Soldier (Bucky Barnes), is responsible, considering Bucky flips an SUV over (also seen in the first trailer),
then we see Fury inside of an upside down vehicle.
From there, that is when we see him on the operating table in the newest trailer, but then another clip in the trailer seemed to change people’s minds about their assumptions of Fury’s death. Fury is seen alive, but beaten up (presumably from the aftermath of the car “accident”).
So some people completely disregarded Fury as the one who dies in the film (considering there are still multiple films Samuel L. Jackson is signed on to still appear in). So it looks like Fury doesn’t die…or does he?
It just so happens that I am almost positive that the covered up corpse we see on the table is Nick Fury. As comic book fans know, the films’ plots and storylines don’t usually completely stay on track with with the plots and storylines in the comics, and whenever they do, they usually flip a few things around.
Take a look at a section I found on Nick Fury’s wiki page, over at Comic Vine.
"When Nick Fury apprehended the Punisher, he had him locked up in the S.H.I.E.L.D. [helicarrier]. The Punisher had been brainwashed and was deranged during this time period[. He] managed not only to escape, but when Nick Fury tried to stop him, Punisher shot him dead. Many of Nick’s former friends believed his death to be a conspiracy and not true. It was only when they saw Nick’s grave, that they finally believed it to be true. The superhero community grieved for the loss of one of it’s greatest [allies].
However, months later, it was [revealed] that Punisher did not indeed murder Fury but that the victim was actually one of [Fury’s] LMD’s ( Life Model Decoy), an exact double/living clone of Fury and that the SHIELD director had used the event to go undercover. Fury was back with a vengeance and took control [of]… S.H.I.E.L.D. once again. He… established good contact between the law enforcement agency and the superhero community. During this time, Nick fought alongside Captain America and Sharon Carter, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent whom Captain America was romantically involved with for many missions.”
You might be reading and wondering, “What does the Punisher have to do with any of this?” The answer is, he doesn’t. Take the entire first paragraph of that excerpt, and replace “The Punisher” with “The Winter Soldier”. Makes sense, right? Kinda? Maybe?
If you aren’t familiar with the Winter Soldier, (spoiler alert) he’s actually Captain America’s best friend and sidekick, James “Bucky” Barnes.
"Wait why is Bucky fighting his best friend? AND WAIT HOW IS HE ALIVE STILL?" If you saw Captain America: The First Avenger, you probably remember the scene where Bucky falls to his apparent death from a high-speeding train, into an icy gorge. Anyone who is familiar with Bucky, knows that he never actually died, but was instead frozen, just as Cap would eventually be. So it’s safe to say, Bucky was frozen in the water down below in the canyon. Eventually, Bucky would return, this time as a brainwashed super soldier (remember how the Punisher was brainwashed when he killed Fury?).
So let’s say that Bucky takes the Punisher’s place in that story arc. Sure, he attacks Fury in the SUV, leading Fury to need operation, but then Fury still survives. I mean, he still looked okay after the car crash. He didn’t look like he was dying to me. So what if Bucky is apprehended by SHIELD, just as the Punisher was, and locked up? Could this be a scene where he is in custody?
And if you ask me, he looks a bit too comfortable (his brainwashed facial expression). Maybe he and Loki have something in common when it comes to being locked up by Nick Fury. Maybe this is what he needs if he fails to kill Fury the first time around. So now, let’s say Winter Soldier escapes and kills Fury, just like Punisher.
Still think there’s not enough evidence? Let’s take a look at the shrouded body again.
Take a look at Black Widow’s face…her beautiful…perfect…sorry. Sorry. Do you see how upset she is? This expression she has, as well as the shot of her crying right before it, is making some fans speculate that under the wraps in actually Bucky, or even Falcon.
Why Bucky?
In the comics, Bucky and Natasha had a romantic relationship, but wouldn’t that be kind of out of left field for the audience who isn’t as familiar with the comics? I think so. Don’t get me wrong, it would be interesting, but it’s too soon. Anyway, why would she be dating a brainwashed murderer who attacked her organization?
Why Falcon?
They’re colleagues. Maybe she’s known him for awhile…but this seems unlikely. Sure, she’d be crying over a dead Hawkeye, but I doubt Falcon. I doubt they are as close.
UPDATE 2/13/14: The Falcon is set to appear in the future Captain America films, and possibly more.
Which leads me to my point. Under the sheet HAS to be Nick Fury.
Why Nick Fury?
If you pay attention in the films, Black Widow and Nick Fury have a very close relationship. In The Avengers, Black Widow meets Bruce Banner in his shack that he’s living in, halfway across the planet. To lure Banner there, she uses a little girl from the village he lives in. When the little girl leaves, Banner asks Natasha, “And your actress buddy, is she a spy too? Do they start that young?” to which she responds, “I did.”
That line alone tells us Natasha has been involved with SHIELD for most of her life. And isn’t it likely that Fury’s been there longer than she has? Probably. So what if he took her under his wing? What if he was her mentor, and that’s why she’s such a bad-ass? I mean look how close Fury and Widow are in Iron Man 2 (no pun intended).
I mean the director has his arm around one of his agents! And not in a romantic way…almost like, in a fatherly way. So if Fury practically raised Natasha, wouldn’t it make SENSE for her to be upset?
So now let’s say that Nick Fury is in fact the person under the sheet. Let’s say he’s dead…but he isn’t. Referring back to the wiki, Fury doesn’t actually die. Whether he does in fact use a Life Model Decoy in the film, I don’t know, but I doubt it. Perhaps he comes back the way Coulson did. If you’ve been watching Agents of SHIELD, you know it still hasn’t been completely revealed how Coulson came back to life, but however it happened, it traumatized him. Not to mention, Fury is the one who set out the order to bring him back. So maybe if the same thing happens to Fury, he’ll experience the same trauma as Coulson, and realize what he had done to him. But that’s another story. Perhaps a subplot of one of the future films.
Maybe Fury wants to be killed to make another point to the Avengers, like a message saying, “Y’all muthaf**kas need to stay together in case more sh*t like this happens again.” But referring to the wiki, what if after the Avengers mourn over Fury, they find out Coulson is still alive. Wouldn’t that lead them to believe Fury is still alive? But upon seeing his grave, or body, or whatever it may be, they realize he might actually be dead, reuniting the Avengers once again. But then eventually we’ll find out Fury is alive and just wanted to make a point to the world that they need heroes like the Avengers, considering the political backlash at the end of The Avengers.
UPDATE 2/21/14: A newly released TV spot reveals Fury’s demise, but is it true, or is it just to throw the audience off?
THEORY: Mostly correct!
It was Nick Fury under the sheet! Granted, my theory wasn’t completely correct, as far as it goes with the Winter Soldier breaking out of captivity and whatnot, but at least I had the identity correct! I will admit, I was not expecting Fury to be revealed alive in the same film, but I totally see why they did that. And how about that Agents of SHIELD finale? Coulson as the new director?! So cool.
Anyway, let’s get back to CA:TWS.
So let’s say Fury is the brainwashed Winter Soldier’s target. Our next question is, who is in charge of the Winter Soldier?
Recently, there was an announcement that Baron von Strucker, an infamous Marvel villain, would be making an appearance in the film, though this is not our main man. Baron von Strucker is a part of HYDRA, the organization responsible for most of the conflict in Captain America: The First Avenger. The leader of that organization, of course was the Red Skull (played by Hugo Weaving). Strucker only works for him.
But what if the Red Skull was never actually killed? What if he came back and with greater power?
This is Alexander Pierce (played by Robert Redford), the head honcho of SHIELD. Higher up than Fury. But what if that’s not his true identity. What if the Red Skull has taken a new face (Literally. The guy wears a mask), and eventually became the top man at SHIELD. And what if his goal is to not only get revenge on Captain America by having his best friend kill him, but also to control the world, with the help of the recently “infiltrated” SHIELD. Seems like a good possibility considering in the comics, the Red Skull was responsible for Bucky’s brainwash. Knowing Nick Fury is the only thing in his way of direct control over SHIELD, he must kill him. Maybe not. I’m not going to try to go into too much detail of what his exact motive is, because, obviously, I haven’t seen the film yet. Hell, he might not even have a motive, or be the Red Skull for that matter. I could be completely wrong!
Going on with this theory that Alexander Pierce is actually the Red Skull, how would he be able to position himself perfectly into SHIELD without being noticed. In fact, how is the Red Skull even around if he was killed? Here’s a question for you. What evidence shows that he ever was killed?
Seeing the film, you will remember that the Red Skull was supposedly defeated, destroyed(?) by the power of the Tesseract, the object Loki pursues in The Avengers. What we found out in The Avengers was that the Tesseract was actually a device that could rip holes in space, hence the invasion of the Chitauri from the other side of the universe. The Tesseract is one of the Infinity Gems (Stones), but I won’t get into that too much in this discussion. So, after seeing the Chitauri (and Iron Man) moving from one place to another through this portal generated by the Tesseract, could it be safe to say that the Red Skull was also transported elsewhere? Take a look at these screencaps when the Red Skull disappears.
The Red Skull opens a portal in space with the Tesseract…
The Tesseract begins to activate…
And it looks as if he is being pulled upward…
Then, the beam pulling him, shoots up into space…
And look at the energy surge…the man definitely went somewhere.
And if you’ve seen Thor, you may notice that the Bifrost and the Tesseract have very similar abilities. After all the Bifrost transports people through space too. The only difference between the two is that one is forged with magic (Bifrost), and the other is an unpredictable element of the universe (Tesseract).
However, the Bifrost can be channeled to any of the Nine Realms in Thor, but what if the Tesseract could only be channeled to one point in the universe?
Theoretically, let’s say we take the Tesseract to any point in the universe (Point A), and decide to open a portal in space, but on the other side of that portal is always the same spot, a fixed point (Point B). It’s a door that can only be opened from one side, which is Point A (unless you have complete control over where you want this portal to open up).
Remember this guy in the mid-credits scene of The Avengers?
This is Thanos, the Mad Titan. We discovered that he was responsible for giving Loki the staff that allowed him to control people’s minds, as well as providing the Chitauri army for him. After the Bifrost was destroyed in Thor, a portal opened in space, and Loki fell through it. What if this specific portal was unprecedented like the portal the Tesseract always makes, and leads to the exact same point in space? And what if there was something waiting on the other side?
If you are familiar with Thanos, he is obsessed with becoming the most powerful thing in the entire universe. He wants to control everything. Time, Space, Minds, Reality, Power, Souls…you name it. Perhaps (in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), throughout the unknown time the Tesseract has been in existence, he discovered exactly where the Tesseract opens its portal up in Point B. So knowing this, he decides to set his headquarters up just outside of Point B. One day, Loki falls through. They get to talking. They both want power, though Thanos’s plans are much greater than Loki’s. Thanos promises to let Loki control Earth as long as he gets the Tesseract for him. To do so, he lets him borrow the staff to control people’s minds to get him what he wants. So Thanos posts his army near Point B, and they wait for the portal to open. Once it does, you know the story.
So, going back to the Red Skull, let’s say the Tesseract transported him to Point B. Thanos encounters him, just as he eventually will with Loki, and somehow sets him up to get back to Earth at a cost.
THEORY UPDATE: Whistles and brushes this one under the rug, hoping no one will notice.
Alright, so I was wrong on this one. Pierce was not the Red Skull, and yeah, that would have been pretty obvious if he was. I think he made a great character on his own. However, I just KNOW the Skull is still lurking out there somewhere. Perhaps we will see his return in the third Cap installment.

WHAT YEAR IS IT?!
Woah! Sorry for the long absence folks! You see, I crashed a plane into the Arctic, and there was this whole freezing thing--it's a long story.
In all seriousness, I do apologize for the extreme lack of posting lately. I have been very busy lately with a new job, moving, and getting back into school. I'm sure the majority of you will understand.
Anyway, the good news is, you can expect more posts in the very near future! Right now, I'm going to update some of my theories now that The Winter Soldier has been released, and maybe write some reviews (finally).
I do want to thank everyone for being so patient, and I feel guilty because I abandoned all of you people who started following me in the short span I was posting, but I want to thank you for sticking around!
Well, I'm going to get to work on these posts.
HAIL HYDRA!
Edit:
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we're launching the official PHASE TWO AND BEYOND Podcast in August! Super stoked.
Nothing will ever be the same on Marvel’s #AgentsofSHIELD after what you witnessed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Tune in this Tuesday at 8|7c on ABC to see how it all plays out! #ItsAllConnected
I just saw that you reblogged the "Doctor Who" diverse recast gifset. I'm glad that you said you weren't a true Whovian, because a true Whovian would never approve of such a ridiculous idea. I just want to go ahead and clarify, it has nothing to do with race or gender. Doctor Who was founded on an idea of a man travelling through time and space. That's it. Frankly, I'm disappointed that you would support such a radical change.
For those who don’t know what Anonymous is referring to, here is the link.
First off, I want to thank you for your submission. This is one of the first real blogger-reader discussions this blog is going to feature, and I am very excited for it.
I want to let you (and everyone reading) know that you are in no way, shape, or form being racist at all. Doctor Who is a wildly successful television program about one person, and it has been on for fifty years thanks to dedicated fans like you! I’ve been watching Doctor Who since 2012 when I decided to give it a try on Netflix, and I immediately loved it. I have seen every episode of the newest 2005-present run, as well as episodes of the original 1963-1996 (arguable) run, the ones that are available to watch anyway.
As much as I enjoy the aliens, the time travel, and all of the wackiness that comes with Doctor Who, my favorite element of the show has to be the Doctor, like most fans. The Doctor is one man who has lived for over a thousand years, experiencing more than probably anything in the universe. Perhaps what I am most fascinated with is the concept itself: a person who has had several lifelong experiences as different people (in Gallifreyan terms).
I understand that Doctor Who is science fiction; a contributing titan of it, if you will, and I think the person who made that gifset knows this as well. They weren’t saying, “This is how Doctor Who should have been”. They were saying, “Look at the potential something like this could have, and the effect it could have on the world.” It wasn’t somebody trying to rewrite canon, they were simply proposing a re-imagination, had the show not been created in such a ethically weak time. Almost as if it was created in an alternate universe where racism and sexism had never existed. That being said, the person who created those gifs has to be a bona fide Doctor Who fan to come up with such a unique idea. That person knows as much as you and I that the show is a classic sci-fi show that cannot and will not radically change because it is so dedicated to its fans, but that’s not to say things won’t change. If there’s anything we’ve learned from Doctor Who, on the show as well as how the show is executed, things always change. Nevertheless, I enjoy the show, and I think they should keep up the excellent work.
Now, as for the re-imagination, this is an entirely different discussion. Let’s hop into our TARDIS and travel fifty years or so into the future. Is Doctor Who still on television? As much as hardcore fans would like it to be, probably not, but then again, this is only a potential future. In this future, let’s say the show has been off the air for a VERY long time. It still has its fans around the world, but only the ones who at least saw the newer version of the iconic series. We are surrounded by a new generation of people in a world they call the present who never saw the original shows. The film industry decides they want to bring back Doctor Who, but in a different form. Let’s say they want to make movies for argument’s sake. Not only do they want to turn the franchise into a newly re-imagined film saga, but they also want to diversify the cast, specifically the Doctor. Imagine several films coming out over the course of a few years starring one actor as the Doctor, going on different adventures through space and time. Borrowing a page from the James Bond films, the Doctor could be recast with a new actor or actress of whatever race, and even get some new writers and filmmakers to carry on the saga.
I am positive reading the last paragraph will outrage many dedicated Doctor Who fans, but things change, and they always will change. However, I wouldn’t get too mad about this. It’s not like we know this is going to happen after all. But think about it. What if the Doctor was able to regenerate into universal forms, as far as humanlike forms go? Tell me it wouldn’t be amazing to see that happen. Personally, I think seeing one character live different lives as different people as a film saga is Oscar-worthy if executed correctly. Granted, the films would be more serious, and perhaps not as wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey. And I really couldn’t see Queen Latifa or Llewyn Davis holding a sonic screwdriver and travelling in a British 1960s police box, but again, that’s not part of the re-imagination. The TARDIS could have its chameleon circuits fixed, never broken in the first place, and never even commented on. Why should he/she only use a sonic screwdriver? Can’t it be a sonic something else? Also, that’s not the point. It’s about the person, not the gadgets.
All I’m saying is, people criticizing it are taking the idea completely out of context. There’s no political meaning behind it. It would be a story about life. I know it’s hard for some people to picture, but that’s because they’re picturing it as a show with killer robots and aliens when it could be much, much more than that. It could be about a person, and that idea is beautiful.
The world needs more artists and thinkers, and less politicians.
Any Doctor Who fans out there? I found this to be extremely interesting. I will admit, as much as I love Doctor Who, I cannot say I am a true "Whovian". However, as a fan of the show, I find this reimagining absolutely beautiful. This would truly be one being who is living all of these different and diverse lives. Such an amazing, universal idea.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The GH-325 Theory [THE RIGHT OR WRONG REVIEW!]
Theory by Kennedy Kruger
Posted 3/5/14
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR AGENTS OF SHIELD, EPISODE 1.14, T.A.H.I.T.I.
If you haven't seen the most recent episode, turn back now...
If you watched Agents of SHIELD last night, you know that we as the audience (as well as Coulson) came closer to uncovering the mysterious circumstances surrounding Agent Phil Coulson's death and resurrection. The team infiltrated a secret SHIELD base to obtain a mysterious "medicine" known (or unknown) as GH-325, the same "medicine" that brought Coulson back to life. This was all in an attempt to save Skye's life...but WHAT THE *** IS THIS?!
The Chitauri wished to utilize the Nazis to conquer Earth and impose "order", erasing all individuality, which they saw as an aberration.
But that's the comics. We're talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
So why would I think that upper half of a body belongs to this guy? Well first off, one of this guy's powers is that he can regenerate almost instantly, just like Coulson and Skye regenerated almost instantly when they were injected.
In the comics, the Chitauri were able to shapeshift. Joss Whedon decided not to include this element into The Avengers, knowing it would be too much, considering he had bigger fish to fry as far as the story and characters went, but Whedon never said that it wasn't possible for the Chitauri to do this, only that he wasn't going to include it in the film.
So, is it possible that a smaller group of Chitauri had infiltrated Earth during the days of Captain America? Absolutely! But why would they?
The Tesseract is what Loki and the Chitauri were after, and what they were ordered to bring back to their alien leader (Thanos). It's very probable that they knew it had been on Earth long before the Avengers were.
It's even possible that Captain America battled him, not knowing what he truly was!
THEORY UPDATE 6/7/14: OKAY YEAH THIS WAS SUPER FARFETCHED...capslock.
Obviously, this dude is a Kree, which many people had been speculating for a while. To be completely honest, I was writing that theory off because of Korath the Pursuer (who is Kree) from the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer wasn't blue, but rather black, so I just assumed they would be making the Kree white, which I wasn't too happy about.
But they're going to be blue! Take a look at Ronan the Accuser.
So this is obviously a tie-in to GotG, which I am super excited for.

The good news is, KENNEDY JUST BECAME A CONTRIBUTOR ON MOVIEPILOT.COM
Don't worry, we're still going to be running the Tumblr blog too...which also leads me to the bad news.
Unfortunately, Adem, our other author, has a lot on his plate right now and hasn't and won't be able to contribute due to his tight schedule, so he has resigned.
Never fear because I, (Kennedy), am still going to run the blog. And you can all look forward to our podcast later this year, which Adem WILL be a part of!
