“Oh. Great.” He turned and rolled his eyes he could never iron his red turtleneck in time but it was a good thing he didn’t care anymore. “Yep that’s us.” She was awkward sometimes like talking to someone you knew from work. “It’s not an insult it’s a fact.” He Put on a jacket and picked Thadd up then headed to the car with him.

Bekka and her family arrived at the police station. “Wow, Hi baby!” She said to Hope and Eve gave eyes like where did Bekka get off. “Well, these are your brothers.” She said and glanced at Ben to see if that was okay.

“Time to get our sing-a-ling-ling on Benjamin.” he winks, “Hey, Bek,” Hey flashed a smile at her in passing.

“Like I said it’s good to be home. Though, I do miss the guys from my unit.” Arizona said before taking a sip of her wine. “Thanks for having dinner with me, it’s been too long since I’ve sat down and had a nice dinner with someone.”

“Well you are very beautiful it’s my pleasure.” He clinks their glasses together. “You’re close with your unit aren’t you?”Ken could tell she was authentic.

“I know you tried to turn that around on me, but mine was cooler.” He shrugs. “Sounds like they’re obsessed with me everywhere. That’s good publicity.” He nods. “Sure you are.” He was skeptical. “Back at you.” He said focusing on his work as Ken left.

‘You’re twice my age? doesn’t that bother you?’ Lisa had no idea how old this man was or even his name.

“As long as you’re eighteen nothing bothers me.” He smiled charmingly with his fingers crossed. “Does it bother you? I’m the baby brother if that counts for anything.”

“Gross I would never do that with you and Ben. Disgusting.” Dimitri Misunderstood on purpose just to mess with Ken. “In your dreams I’m sure.” Dimitri nods. “Well I hope you at least respect the No and Stop she’ll give you herself because other wise it’s called rape, but you know that or at least you should but yet here you are in your brother’s station and not your own.” Dimitri threw shade.

“What!?!” Ken stood up, “Lair! I know you would but that’s not what I was suggesting but I wouldn’t expect you to understand. That’s right Detective they even spoke poorly of you all the way in Gotham.” Phelps dusted his hands. “I’m here for a reason,” He was spying on Ben’s work. “You have a good day.” His shoes click, clacked down the hall into the men’s room.

Dimitri caught onto what Kenjamin was doing. “Oh yeah of course and then there is the really cute way that she’s my Girlfriend.” Dimitri’s expression went from happy to stern. “So keep movin’ Pal.” He shook his head. “I see the way your brother Ben looks at her too. I’m not stupid.”

“Now that would be a sweet threesome.” He chuckled. “I bet I could get her better than Ben.” He bit his lip imagining the things he could do. “By the way, unless she’s agreed to Marry you I don’t stop.” the term girlfriend meant nothing to him and wasn’t respected.

“It’s the little things ya know? Like Bekka and the way she flips her spoon upsidedown against her tongue when she eats ice cream and how if you call her Becky she’ll give you a black eye.” He nods “ and then there’s the way if you even hint that you love her she will magically become unconscious.

“Oh boy do I know!” He nods his head in interest of the fine lady Dimitri spoke of. Kenjamin was taking notes literally with a no. 2 pencil and wide rule paper. “Tell me more about her.” He grinned and hid what he was doing behind his bulky old fashioned computer. Ken wanted this girl.

“The need me back at the station, Ken. I’m sorry.” She got up and placed a twenty dollar bill on the table. “Duty called.. I know you understand.” She stood up and waved. “Bye.” She left back to the station to make it look good.

“Maybe some other time then.” He was let down and decided to stay and stress smoke.

“I’m not really looking to date right now. Sorry. But I’m flattered, really.” She smiles. Bekka had other men on her mind right now and although Ken was handsome she really couldn’t add him to the already complicated mix. “I know what you mean….” Her eyes widened.

Bekka looked up from her phone and picked up her fork.

“Hard to get.” He smiled and shook his head. “All the good one’s are.” He liked her a lot. Her alert went off and the noise startled him.  “What’s going on?”

“Haha, right.” She didn’t bother to look at the Menu. “I’ll have whatever you’re having.” She lost her appetite. “You know this isn’t  a date. This is just dinner.”

Ken orders the food and it arrived at the table as if they had already prepared it before the order was placed.  “Wow. fast.” He looks at her intensely. “Okay. But if you want it to be a date it can be.” He blushes. “Or we can trash this cold slop and just dessert it up if you know what I mean.” He was feeling playful.

Bekka was a little disappointed when Ben just let her go alone with Ken like that. Walking down the hall she pulled her hand out of Ken’s grip. “Maybe you should ask Ben to come with us?” She didn’t want to ask because she was afraid of being turned down…Ben would often turn his wife down before she went crazy so why wouldn’t he say no to Bekka.

“I just wouldn’t want him to feel like a third wheel. I’m thoughtful like that.” He grinned. 

They arrived at Chipotle. 

“I had a coupon so I thought why the fucking hell not?!” He over laughs.

“Right back at you, Ken. Look at us. Ole’ Ben and Ken back together again.” He happily exhales. “It’s good to have you here, Brother.” He smiles. “Safe as this dreaded world can get huh?” He shakes his head. “It’s both sad and rewarding. but at least you understand.” He winks. “I should show you around town if you’d like?”

“We should do our dance routine at the fundraiser for Alzheimer's disease this weekend.” He smiles & hoped Ben was up for a good cause. “Pretty close. I do, I understand. Yes! I need to know where it’s at.” He laughs and they walk out the door together.

“You’d be right there.” He nods he loved the bakery. “Sure do.” He raise his shirt to show. “I like it.” He drops his shirt back down. Ben laughs. “ You said it Kenny.” He hands his brother a coffee. “Great! Great! I always worry, but then I remember you’re in charge and then well I worry some more.” He jokes and laughs. “He have quite the killers in our area.”

“Oh come on! What’s with these people and you? Please stop with the Kenny, Benny. Kenny is a boy, but Ken is a man.” He half jokes. “Aw, stop now. I have things.” He bounced on the ball of his feet and the sole. “I just had to make sure your keeping tree hill safe.” He laughs.  “Well the killers are just giving you something to do so be thankful that the human body can be destructed.” he winks.

“Hey!eyyy!” He said with joy and surprise and saluted his fellow officer and his brother. “All this way for little ole me huh?” He shook his head. “Well the were right. She stabbed me right in the gullet not to mention the weeks of poisoning she done to me.” He tells his brother. “ Love huh? it’ll blind ya. Your best friend or your worst enemy. After all that I think I’ll stick to the lone style.” He smiled. “But enough about me. How are things back home?”

“For you and I hear the Bakery in this town is hella good.” She jokes. “Do you have a scar?” He wanted the details. “It will blind you and chop your fingers off making it impossible to read a bitch.” He was such a joker. “Things are--” He remembered how out of control Gotham truly is, “Wonderful! I have everything under control.” he smile lies.

“Tree Hill.” Phelps whispered into the dark night and with the smallest reply he was standing before his brother. “Hey!eyyy!” She rejoiced in each other's company. “What brings me to this small town? no one other than my older brother Ben.” He chuckled. “Rumors flu. I caught wind of what Marlowe had down and wanted to hear the truth from the man himself.”
