“I wish it were that simple, but Mother is…difficult to persuade once she has decided upon something. She’s always discouraged me from fighting, wants me to be a ‘proper lady’ instead. If I may be so bold as to say, I once wanted to join the Queen’s Protective Services. As we both know though, they don’t allow women. Unfortunate really.”
Natalie hesitated for a moment before shaking her head. “No, not really. I haven’t had friends or anything of the sort in several years, so for a while I wasn’t, not even with my brother. I’m glad you enjoy my company though, it might be an awkward situation if you didn’t,” she told him with a light laugh.
“Do you not anymore? I mean I understand that they do not allow women to join, but it’s still a dream you cuold hold onto. I think that bold dreams are the best, because if you can not go for the largest possibility, then it is not what you deserve.” Talking about this brought a slight feel of hypocrisy to his stomach.
“Yes it’d be quite awkward, but I’m glad that I’ve met you. I can honestly say we can be friends for a very long time. It feels so natural being around someone with a spirit like yours.”
