The second dimension was so cool because it was like. What if PNF had stakes. What if every character was put in the worst possible situation and so had their roles evolving to the extreme. Phineas and ferb as shutins, Candace literally leading a rebellion just to protect her brothers, isabella and the backyard gang and fireside girls at her side. Perry only joining Doofenshmirtz because he’d been brainwashed but monogram the coward that he is working for him willingly. It all felt like such natural character evolution, every single role each character fell into did. It offered some really wonderful revelations. And all because Doofenshmirtz didn’t have a fucked up childhood outside of losing his toy train. Crazy shit. Wonderful shit. PNF at its best, truly.

honestly phineas and ferb is so funny bc like. okay it's an episodic comedy whose core is just how much the characters love each other, you wouldn't expect angst writers to get a whole lot of out of that. like the first episode does clarify that perry can never reveal his personality or sapience to his family or else he will be forcibly removed from them but that's just setup for jokes, right? oh but then towards the end of the season they also drop "hey if candace succeeds in busting her brothers, they get sent to a military camp where all the creativity is literally tortured out of them." and you're like. ah. but also that was just a nightmare sequence, right? second season is like "don't worry! we will also clarify that busting phineas and ferb will result in a complete dystopia. also if perry fails to stop doofenshmirtz's wacky plots even one (1) time he becomes a truly evil supreme dictator. also one of the candaces literally disappears from the timeline but that's just a joke" and you're like. okay? you start thinking about how unfair this all is from candace's POV and while you're doing that they're like "oh here's our big movie btw! this is another alternate timeline where doofenshmirtz is running a despotism, we are going to focus on how this mentally affected all the funny main characters. also perry was forcibly roboticized. oh and our first dimension characters are almost fed to a monster over a pit of lava and also phineas is having a crashout over the perry b-plot" and you're like wait and then they release the pharmacists

Happy 15th anniversary to “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension”!!! I honestly wish it was a theatrical movie, so I’ve been doing some editing in premium Pro, and spice it up with logos, titles and what not! Happy Anniversary!!!
