PS This was inspired by various headcanons that some of the TMNT are into gardening/botany, but this drawing isn’t of any specific turtle or iteration; it can be whoever you want ;)

I really wanted to see what the grandmas disguises (Hortense and Patty) would look like on a "realistic-ish" turtle design (emphasis on the “ish”). And guess what?

They’re just as silly and totally ineffective as I hoped they would be, haha!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I love how, when it comes to human disguises, the turtles in every universe suffer from extreme delulu-ness.

So for the Gravity Falls Noir AU, what were Dipper and Mable first case/first big break that earned them a reputation?

Ooh! Good question. Not gonna lie, I'm just at the tip of the iceberg in creating this AU, so I'm making this up as I go 😅

The plot of this AU is very similar to that of the original show. The main difference (other than all the characters being aged up) is that instead of the weird and supernatural, Gravity Falls is a hotspot for crime (and there's a lot more references to noir film classics 😉).

The twins' first run-in with the crime-fighting life was against The Schratt Family, a large group of somewhat small relatives (mostly distant cousins…maybe…even they don't really know) who are primarily involved in petty crimes and mobbing (and, despite their best efforts, flirting really badly).

At the start of their career, Dipper and Mabel weren't really taken seriously in their crime fighting pursuits, primarily because there were several different individuals and organizations hiding or removing evidence, memory-wiping witnesses, or manipulating others into keeping their mouths shut. Most civilians and even law enforcement believed strange occurrences were just bad luck or their own incompetence (which, unfortunately, were not unlikely options).

The Mystery Twins Incorporated's big break was exposing local heartthrob and clairvoyant (and unofficial cult leader) Gideon Gleeful for his several crimes; people started taking them more seriously after that. The Northwest family hiring them was certainly their first case that gave them a decent pay, though (one of the reasons they accepted it). 😅

If I had a nickel for every time a specific voice actor played a character who had a conversation with his "dark side" self about accepting his destiny and morally questionable potential and whatnot, I'd have two nickels...which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
