Elena looked to the girl before glancing down to her phone and then back at the other, “My answer is still no.” She told her, “I write articles on the important matters, not on dogs doing their business in the toilet. Plus- I’m a cat person.”

“He does have pointy ears, so he’s actually closer to being like a cat think you think.” Phoebe insisted. “And besides, it doesn’t even have to be your biggest article! It can be just you know - hinted on the side.”

“I feel like every year I forget how much work can go into picking a Halloween costume. Except for those lucky years where you just know, but how often does that really happen, right?” She commented. “Have you figured out what you’ll be? Or are you one of those who opts out of the fun?”

“Oh, no, I never shy away from costumes!” Phoebe assured with a smile. “I don’t know for sure just yet what I’m going to be this year but it, of course, will be super cute - and match the love of my life’s costume. After all, couples costumes are always so fun!”

“I don’t care how cute your pet is, this isn’t going to be a story I’m reporting.” Elena argued with the other, rubbing the bridge of her nose as they droned on. “Look, I said no, I mean no, now either drop it or leave me alone.”

“But come on, please! Just take a glance at this video will ya? My pet chihuahua literally uses my toilet to do his business!! I mean, that’s like a one in a million scoop right there!” Phoebe insisted, placing her phone on the other’s desk.

“You have time to put the jewelry and clothes on, yet you don’t just steal it?” Aladdin asked, his eyes wide upon hearing the confession. “Either you must be a really good honest person or you just love your job cleaning up after people. I’m going to say it’s the latter though, right?”

Phoebe let out a giggle upon seeing the other’s expression. “Honesty is the best policy. Especially in my books. Besides, I’m terrible at being sneaky. If I was burglar, my clumsy self would only get myself caught before I made it down the stairs.”

When the girl hugged her, Beatrice gave a small smile before pulling back. “Well, I’ve had just a few more years of experience, my dear.” She replied, giving her a small wink before wrapping an arm around the girl’s shoulder and led her to the counter. “It’s okay to be emotional. Sometimes you have to let them out before they get bottled up and it gets worse.” Beatrice told her. “Now, let’s get you some tea and talk about some cheerier things, shall we?”

Phoebe nodded softly, listening to Mrs. Potts’ words of wisdom. It was hard for her to admit but she always did have a problem for keeping everything that was bothering her up inside her. She didn’t want to ever be a bother to people, instead, she always wanted to be “happy happy Phoebe”. It was only people like Mrs. Potts who she could finally breathe around. “Yes, you know me, I can never say no to your famous tea!” She softly smiled and exhaled relief at the mention of the warm drink and happier words.

The barbecue was a lot of fun, but Mathis was happy that it was over. Not that he didn’t enjoy meeting the other residents of Talle that he wasn’t aware existed, or that he didn’t want to be around people since he loved it. But he was ready for more inward kind of parties. Ones that he had control over and could make people feel more welcome. He wasn’t doing anything too extravagant with his free time today, so he was pleased when the knock on his door had him moving to answer it and a grin appeared the minute his Phoebe came into view. “That sounds like the best kind of surprise night, mon amour.”

“How did I know you’d say that?” She giggled with not really amusement, but just happiness. Just seeing his bright smile lit up upon seeing her pasta and more importantly her: Phoebe couldn’t help but blush like a glowing rose. God, could she be more of a hopeless fool in love? Still, she owned that title as she entered his place and sat the lasagna on the dining table. “Is it because just like this pasta, our relationship is made from nothing but wonderful love?” She took his hands in hers, looking up at him with a smile as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. “I memorized that quote just for you. I got it from one of those perfect couple magazines at the newstand.”

“Like I said. Beer,” Arabella said, “You go have your sickeningly sweet food. I’ll sort myself out.”

Hearing this, Phoebe was now a bit put off by the other’s overall attitude. She wondered how people could be like this... and the question slipped out. “Are you always this down?”

Hearing Phoebe’s response, Beatrice quirked a brow in question, waiting to hear what all she had to say about the subject. As she continued, the brow dropped and she nodded her head a bit. “Phoebe, you might get there one day. You are still so young and have so much life before you, who knows where you’ll be! Maybe you’ll own your own maid company that helps you get to that place.” She told her. “I know the job might not be super glamorous now, but hard work can get you places if you plan right.”

Phoebe’s frown turned into a soft gentle smile upon hearing Mrs. Potts’ kind yet wise words. She was young still, although she had a habit of forgetting it, Phoebe’s life wasn’t over. She could still make something of herself that both her passed away mom and her would be proud of. “Thank you, Mrs. Potts.” She replied, hugging the other. “You always know what to say. I’m sorry to get so emotional sometimes.” She softly chuckled, ridding the tension filled air out of her lungs finally.

“So here’s what I’m thinking...” Phoebe smiled as she walked over and sat down beside her bestie, Eliana, who was sitting on her bed. “Mani, pedis and of course - shopping! I just got paid and I’m ready to spend it all with the best girl I have ever known with the classic girl’s night out! What do you say?”

After such a crazy fun filled week of the barbeque, it was nice for Phoebe to just wind down and relax - trying to get all that sugar rush out of her system. However something kept her from winding down all the way and that was still the thought of that burning candle accident she nearly had that night. She couldn’t believe how entranced she had felt to it... Feeling the need to get it off her mind, Phoebe immediately went to the one person she knew could make her forget such silly things: her loving soulmate Mathis.With a home cook meal - a custom to her - she headed straight over to his place, however when he opened the door, Phoebe was greeted with that familiar feeling of warmth. Just like the candle. However it only made her smile as she looked at him. “Surprise lasagna night?” She asked, gesturing the bowl like it was on sell for an auction.

“All of them?” he blinked, but kind of expecting the answer from Phoebe. Charles looked over all the flavors before looking back to Phoebe again, “Alright well– looks like we’re going to have to book an appointment with the dentist for tomorrow.”

“Sounds like a plan then.” Phoebe laughed, amused in Charles’ words, even with the logic behind them. She looked at the colors, her eyes lighting up as she thought hard about which one she wanted to try first. “I think... I’m going to choose... the yellow one first! What about you?”

“Maybe I don’t have the stomach to try everything here. There’s too much.”

Phoebe let out a small sigh, reminding herself that not everyone could just be thrown amongst all the excitement and crowds. She tried a different approach, taking it down a notch as she spoke. “Okay... Fair enough. Is there anything you were wanting to try?”

“Are they famous?” Harvey asked with a chuckle, “Yeah, Gwyn works there. I’m guessing you like her work?”

“Love their work!” Phoebe insisted with a bright smile. “Especially their cinnamon rolls. Once my boyfriend got a box of them for me all arranged in a shape of a heart and let’s just say that was probably one of my favorite gifts!”

“ All of the above ! ” Eliana replied in delight. “ How about we start with the cotton candy, check out the stands while our stomachs digest, and then go swimming if there’s any actual hotties at the pool ? Totally open to negotiations. ” As long as the pool wasn’t an immediate choice, because there looked to be about zero cute boys.

Phoebe let out a giggle of amusement in her bestie, Eliana and her never ending pursuit of her “prince charming”. It was probably one of the many traits the two shared: hopeless romantics. “That sounds absolutely perfect, girl!” She insisted, taking the other’s hand, nearly pulling her to the cotton candy all excited. “You’re always one step ahead. And don’t worry, I’m sure we will find your soulmate today! I’m going to make it my personal mission!”

Adam’s eyes squinted at her a bit before he let out a sigh. “Does it look like I’m in need of a friendly guide?” He asked rhetorically. “Besides, I’m sure your expertise of this barbeque would be better utilized on someone else. No sense in wasting my time, or yours I suppose.”

“Well... Now that you ask...” Phoebe stopped though from finishing her sentence as she realized he really didn’t want any answer. She cleared her throat though, trying to keep it all positive and upbeat but this guy... kind of was making it hard. But Phoebe couldn’t leave well enough alone... After all, she felt like she had met this guy before. She just couldn’t place her finger on it. “No person can waste my time, don’t worry! Besides... I feel like we’ve seen each other before, no? And until I remember who you are, I don’t think I should leave you otherwise my mind won’t rest. So for my sake, won’t you spare a couple minutes of friendliness?”

The sound of victory was the water balloon hitting the grass and rolling away to be forgotten by Phoebe. He knew that she would never do anything to intentionally upset him, but he couldn’t risk it - not with the off chance of someone seeing her hit him with the water balloon and then deciding that they wanted to join in and it became a game of who could hit Mathis enough times. “Ah, smart girl.” he teased her, tapping her nose with his index finger. “Now I don’t know if we’ll look silly dancing with no music, but weirder things have happened.”

Love was always a crazy and strange think for Phoebe to even begin to try to understand. It seemed so simple - like it was natural and meant to just be whenever she was around Mathis. Even with his sweet teasing and soft touch of his finger upon her nose, Phoebe couldn’t help but completely forget about the water balloon like it never existed. “Don’t worry, love.” She assured with a bright smile as she looked him in the eyes. “I always hear music in my heart whenever I’m around you.” She softly started to hum a small tune, not even caring what other people would think because she was with him and that’s all that truly ever mattered  to Phoebe.
