world building: cities
Geographically, the cities of the Red United Nations are placed in strategic areas, necessary for magical protection against demons: if drawn from above, the city placements resemble an upside pentagram, with the Academy at the center.
TMC: The World Population (Book 1)
Tike lives in the Red United Nations. There is the Academy, a city for military training and where Tike grew up, and there are five major cities, placed at northeast, northwest, west, east, and south. Each city has its own rules, leader(s), government, and aesthetic/theme.

Tyke is akin to modern-day Millennials, being born at the end of the 2450s, and being a young adult during the shift from a generation of Unraveling to a generation of Crisis. I would also like to portion these generations into: predict, prepare, act, retell. Tyke is someone who needs to act, so that her story can be told.
TMC: Timeline (Book 1 & adjacent)
April 18, 1483: Constance Niamh O'Ceallaigh is born to an English mother and Irish father. She is the third of four daughters.
October 31, 1498: Constance's two older sisters and mother are killed by the Catholic church after her best friend gets possessed by a demon and betrays her, giving the entire family up as witches.
November 1, 1498: Constance, her younger sister Una, and her infant nephew leave home.
December 1, 1498: Una dies from disease, and Constance gives her nephew to the orphanage that has been housing them, deciding to leave for good so he can stand a chance at a better life and not be associated with her now cursed family name. She gives him her mother's maiden (sur)name, Holloway, and eventually takes it for herself, wanting to honor the mother she lost (she never knew her father, he died when she was very young).
August 18, 2016: Holloway buries herself in a coffin and enters a peaceful slumber, intending to never awaken.
2176: the Triumvirate makes a deal with a devil to prevent earth from over-heating, in exchange for demonic domain in the living realm
June 6, 2457: Tyke is found by a soldier in the hellscape. She is an infant and near death. Her actual birthday is unknown, but it's probably late May.
2476: the events of book 1 begin
TMC: The Narrative, at a glance (book 1)
Even though Mati is the ultimate protagonist, she is not the first one we meet. Or, if she is, it would only be to provide context for the overall narrative. Our first protagonist is a young woman named Tyke, and it is her pov for the first book in the series.
Tyke's position in the overall narrative is that of the Fool. She is young, naive, adventurous. She is the constant throughout the story, able to travel through dimensions and visit every messiah (she is not one of the twelve messiahs). The reader can think of Tyke and Mati as bookends--two constants on opposite sides of time who weave through all other settings and characters. Tyke meets the very first messiah of the cycle, a woman named Holloway, after her train is attacked by demons. Holloway helps Tyke and her group survive the perils of the demon-infested landscape, and Tyke discovers more about Holloway's past as something called The Angelsage--basically, Holloway is nearly a thousand years old and has super powers that help her fight demons and not get killed. Tyke also discovers that, in a past life, she was the catalyst for Holloway's supernatural abilities. At the end, Holloway sacrifices herself to save Tyke's life, infusing her with some of her supernatural powers and making it possible for Tyke to enter a portal that takes her to an unknown realm. Her entering the portal destroys the city around her, but it destroys the hell portals as well, and also gives earth enough of a signature to attract something very different from demons--aliens.
The Materia Chronicles: The Premise
The Materia Chronicles is a multi-part epic tale spanning millions of years, from 15th century England to Pangea Proxima (the next Pangea or supercontinent, est. in 250 million years). It centers around Mati, a young woman living on Talamh (Pangea Proxima/earth) who must collect the memories of twelve former human messiahs who lived and died during the Kali Yuga (the age of darkness and vice, basically our era of humanity). She must collect these memories in order to stop the Dyson sphere that is threatening to drain the energy from Sol, slowly freezing the planet and dooming all its inhabitants to extinction--one it would never recover from.
