- This blog has 3 post types: Storyline posts, Thought Posts, & RP posts. Storyline follows similar canon beats as posts, Thought posts are everything else with any iteration of Phos posting, RP posts are any crossovers or hnk/lotl canon characters or gem ocs interacting with Phos.

- Phos will be changing overtime in the storyline. I’ll put in tags for each iteration i am playing as. The blog will retire Storyline posts when I eventually reach a final iteration—but not retire from RP posts or Thought posts.

- I’ve been a fan of HNK / LOTL since 2019 — I may be a tad rusty regarding playing as Phos. This is all in good fun and im trying my best here—so apologies if im not fitting into what you deem as canon. Head-canons and other shenanigans will be sprinkled about.

Blog Backstory - Sometime right after Phos was given the job of creating the natural history encyclopedia, a box containing modern technology devices washed ashore. Curious as ever, Phos decided to use one of these devices—and now has access to running this blog of theirs!

「 Phos mimicked the motions, stumbling a tad. The others look more…cooler when they did theirs battling lunarians. Picking themselves back up, they try again. 」

「 From what Zoro sees of Phos’s attempts, they have a knack of being clumsy and fumbling some of their movements—but they seem to be getting it slowly. 」

"Careful", he said. It wasn't too bad, but they still should be careful.

"You should work more on that. It's not bad for a beginner, but you need to be more steady".

"Not bad", Mihawk imitated him, as if Zoro told him the most stupid thing in the world. "You give them way too much credit".

Zoro swallowed his spit, trying to ignore him.

"Now, you'll learn how to do a slash", he said. "You basically just move your knife in a sharp motion, as if you're drawing a line and your enemy is your canvas".

He demonstrated that by making a sharp, vertical slash. "You should've begun with that. You also need to work on your slashes, little frog. You're not fast enough, and the slash is not sharp enough", the fake version of Mihawk said.

I... Know, he thought.

"And yet, you aren't trying to get better. You really think you'll inherit my position if you don't work on yourself first? How pathetic of you, little frog".

He tried not to let it get to him. "Your turn", he told Phos.

「 Phos again, mimics the motions. A sharp line, envisioning they’re out in battle like the other gems. Envisioning a sword cutting through a lunarian, the being turning to dust when slashed when cut through… 」

The motion wasn't that bad, but they still needed to train in order to achieve perfection. He decided that should be it for now, so their memory wouldn't be loaded with moves they'd forget later.

"That's it for now. You need to work on those two", he said.

「 Phos nods, huffing for a moment now that their lesson seems to be put on pause. …. Softly they go down to lay on the floor beneath, eyes immediately closing and their grip on the butter knife is let go. 」

"The place we're at right now is called the deck. The cool thing on the mast", he pointed upwards, "is the crow's nest, where we do our night watches, to see if someone's about to attack us". Then he pointed with the same finger at the cartoonish goat head of the ship. "Luffy sleeps here a lot", he said, before turning back. He folded his hands.

'And that little room here is the kitchen", he said before going downstairs. "Follow me".

He didn't said anything until they stood in front of the bathroom.

"That's the bathroom. The storage is above the women's bedroom", he told them. "The nearest bedroom is the women's. They're on the left. The men's is further, on the same direction and the cannon stand is above the men's room. They're basically on the deck but I forgot to show them to you".

「 Phos nods, absorbing the information. Hopefully they don’t lose a part so they don’t forget. Haha..ha… 」

“Mm. Got it!”

“I’ll do my best around here!!”

「 It was the first thought that Phos had in their mineral mind. They weren’t build for combat, due to their own fragility and low hardness of a 3.5 . It’s how they got stuck with their job making that dumb encyclopedia… 」

「 So maybe they have a chance to finally learn…? 」

"Not only for battles. Just training in general, to upgrade my skills", he answered while climbing up the stairs. After that, he went to his usual training corner and started to do his warm-ups.

“You think you could teach me-??”

「 A big ol’ grin is plastered on Phos’s face, faint sparkles emanating from their minty hair. 」

「 ….They haven’t mentioned as to why they weren’t allowed to prior back at the land—BUT ITS FINE! They just GOTTA learn from their new friend! 」

The question surprised him, but of course, he didn't show that. He knew he was a good fighter, but that wasn't enough for him, as he wanted to best Mihawk.

"Sure", he said. "Start stretching first and move your joints in circles. You need to warm up before training. I'll go to the galley. I'll try to find something that's suitable for begginners".

After that, he walked to the galley.

“Yesss! Alright!! I cant wait!!”

「 Both internally and externally, Phos cheered. Finally! This is their perfect chance!! 」

‘This is gonna be so great! I’ll show em what i’m made of, and be an awesome and cool fighter!’

He came back after a few seconds. It didn't take him too long to find a butter knife, and while he did so, he had to explain to Sanji why he was here so the cook wouldn't get too irritated.

When he was back on the deck, he asked Phos: " Did you stretch?"

「 They nod, confident in themselves and clearly amped for a lesson. Heres to hoping they don’t fracture to pieces and freak out their new friends… 」

“What’s first?”

"First of all, you need to have a proper stance. You need to stand with one leg forward ", he told them.

"You also need to slightly bend your knees to allow quick movements. And you obviously need to stand straight."

「 Phos follows Zoros instructions. Standing right up. A leg forward, and knees at a slight bent. Their expression, while wide eyed in excitement ; are looking focused. They are for sure giving it their all. 」

“Hmm!”

"Good", he said examining their stance.

"You need to relax your upper body, though".

After saying that, he noticed the silhouette of Dracule Mihawk staring at him and scrutinizing him and Phos. Of course, it was in his head, but his words and stairs felt so real to Zoro.

"You really think you're capable enough to teach someone the art of swordsmanship, despite not being able to defeat me?", he asked with that familiar condescending and beautiful voice.

Shut up, Zoro thought.

"You'll need to let go of me for that to happen, little frog. But between the both of us, it's not going to happen any time soon. Unless you're planning to surprise me?", the apparition said staring intensely at Zoro, who was focused on Phos.

"Answer me", the imaginary older man demanded, but he still didn't get any answer.

「 Phos nervously grinned, adjusting to be less tense at their upper portion as instructed. They weren’t aware of Zoro facing his own inner conflict while the pair were in this moment. 」

"Now imagine a weaker version of your worst enemy. Then stab them", he said.

Then, he proceeded to unsheath Yubashiri. He held it in his right arm and moved it forward to show them how it should be done.

"Swordsmen do it while moving, but I'll teach you how to do it after teaching you the other moves", he said.

"That is the first thing you teach them? Not even a slash?", the phantom asked, mocking Zoro. "Your stab was also below average, little frog. Why don't you focus on training, instead of teaching your friend?"

Because they want to know how to fight, he responded in his mind.

"And they want you to be their teacher? That's a good joke".
