My journey to Memphis... to #mlk50 started yesterday on a hillside in LA, with good song and powerful words.
I will be traveling with my friend, LA County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. Early in his career, he was the Executive Director for SCLC in Los Angeles. So I will be in a very unique position to capture this important moment at IAM2018 and The Civil Rights Museum. I hope to live up to the responsibility of documenting the experience through a lens that honors the King legacy while also celebrating the young voices of the civil rights movement. Trust... Black lives matter here, every day; From Emmett Till to Sandra Bland to Stephon Clark. So, when I hit the streets of Memphis, I’ll be armed with two important questions... “Are we in a better place fifty years later?” If not, “What work are we committed to do to get there?”
My social media channels will be very active. Most of the quick posts will be on Instagram and Twitter Photoham. Longer video posts will be on my YouTube channel Photohami.
