It's been a strike summer. In LA, this most notably means the ongoing protests by the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA, led by the incomparable (but I must admit surprising) Fran Drescher. A modern Lady Liberty Leading Her People. Shot for The New York Times and DIE ZEIT.

Celebrity mountain lion P-22 passed away in December, and Los Angeles hasn't forgotten his legacy. Quite the opposite: a wildlife bridge is being built, museum exhibits have been updated, and murals, statues and the like have been placed all over the city. Although he didn't know it, this city cat surrounded by highways set LA on a better path to understand him and his kind. For The New York Times.

Crystal Diaz de Villegas, a leader for gender equity at The Nature Conservancy, for The Nature Conservancy Magazine.
"The better we treat our people, the more likely we are to achieve our mission and goals. So if women in conservation are not supported in their workplace, we’re not creating the conditions for them to succeed and be part of the solutions that we want to bring to bear." - Diaz de Villegas.

I loved seeing a photo of mine used to announce another historic moment for women! In November, Karen Bass was the first woman elected as mayor of Los Angeles. Congratulations Mayor Bass. Photographed on election night for The New York Times.
