The Galaxy is a beautiful and mysterious place full of wonder
NGC 3132: The Eight Burst Nebula : Its the dim star, not the bright one, near the center of NGC 3132 that created this odd but beautiful planetary nebula. Nicknamed the Eight-Burst Nebula and the Southern Ring Nebula, the glowing gas originated in the outer layers of a star like our Sun. In this representative color picture, the hot blue pool of light seen surrounding this binary system is energized by the hot surface of the faint star. Although photographed to explore unusual symmetries, its the asymmetries that help make this planetary nebula so intriguing. Neither the unusual shape of the surrounding cooler shell nor the structure and placements of the cool filamentary dust lanes running across NGC 3132 are well understood. via NASA

Titan: The Moon of Saturn
On this day, but in 1655 was discovered moon Titan of Saturn.
Titan, Saturn’s largest moon, is the second largest moon in the Solar System. The diameter of Titan is 5150 km, in comparison, the Earth is 12 756.28 km. In its thick atmosphere, Cassini’s infrared spectrometer has observed a huge cloud system covering the north pole of Titan. Titan is the only moon in the Solar System to possess a thick atmosphere of nitrogen (dinitrogen) and methane clouds, in which one can observe a very active weather (evaporation, cloud formation, precipitation of methane).
Saturn’s moon Titan is home to seas and lakes filled with liquid hydrocarbons. One of its liquid surfaces extends over 100 000 square kilometers, the Lake Superior one of the biggest on Earth is 82 000 square kilometers. The biggest liquid seas are situated in Titan’s highest latitudes, most being situated in the North of the 70th parallel of this cold and distant world.
The Huygens probe successfully landed on Saturn’s largest moon Titan at about 11:30 UTC on January 14, 2005. The descent lasted two hours and 27 minutes. The probe survived another 72 minutes on the surface of Titan. This was the first - and, so far, the only - landing in the outer solar system. Huygens holds the record as the most distant landing from Earth.

Dear Roommate
Dear Roommate, Can you not blare crappy covers of sad sappy songs so I can get some desperately needed sleep, that would be great... or at least go somewhere else to be depressed. Sincerely, Your Sleep Deprived Roommate
So for my first post I decided I should post something that I took myself. Yay for Skynet! (No not the stupid Terminator thing). So yea! Enjoy my picture of Centaurus A!!
