Promising myself to become the woman of my dreams.
you need to forgive yourself. for the small mistakes, for the big misgivings. this is how life works — if you have not made any mistakes, if you have never regretted anything, you have not lived. not really.
Honestly, probably the best social tip I could ever give you guys is literally just ask. Need to make a doctor's appointment but don't know how? Call the doctor's office and ask. Don't know the meaning of what someone said? Ask them. Don't understand the instructions you were given? Ask them to repeat or clarify. This has literally never failed me, no one's gotten angry, no one's refused to answer.
Even in situations where you think it might not work, I once accidentally missed a deadline to accept a job offer, so I called and asked if they could reset it and they did. Just today I called a doctor and asked how to schedule an appointment, the lady told me how, and then I did it. Didn't know if someone was being sarcastic or not, so I asked and they told me. Just ask.
Quote from @SwampAdvice on Twitter (written by frequent collaborator on The CryptoNaturalist Podcast Leslie J Anderson).
Here is a secret about things you love. If you put them down you can always pick them back up again. You can always paint again, sew again, hike again, play music again, read that book again, watch the movie. “But it’s been so long.” The thing you love doesn’t care.
we really need to internalize "my own experiences can lead to blindspots that prevent me from recognizing something is racist even if i never intended to hurt people"
getting called racist is not a condemnation. and no one is asking white people adopt a catholic's guilt-driven mindset. its just a guideline to help u not hurt people of color.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if the phrase "self care" doesn't resonate with you, try calling it "system maintenance" and see if that clicks.

Warning
If you don’t schedule time for system maintenance, your equipment will schedule it for you.

friendly reminder that moments like sitting in the sun, waking up well-rested, discovering a song that makes you feel your heart and laughing with someone will find you again. clouds will dissipate and the sun will sink and rise and the moon will be full and bright outside of your window, and life will stop feeling this heavy. in the meantime, we’ll try. sometimes that’ll feel like enough and sometimes it won’t, but that’s okay. you’re here and that’s an achievement and that’s good and it matters.
the older i get the more i realize how unimportant it is to tell people my business
Anxiety is the mind exaggerating what ifs, know that you can handle any situation and know that will you be okay.
How to make the learning process more eco friendly: ✎ I write lectures that do not require drawings / diagrams on the iPad, so as not to use paper ✎ I also keep all the textbooks online or take them from the library (by the way, almost all online libraries are free for students, you can ask for a username and password when you receive a library ticket in the state library or in the special office of your university) ✎ I print the necessary materials in the font ‘ecofont’ (available for free) or through the printer setup ‘draft’ / ‘low quality’ ✎ I buy printing paper with a marking confirming the legality and environmental friendliness of wood production (FSC, PEFC, SFI, etc.) ✎ I do the paper for the notebooks myself, cut the office paper with the marking and make holes with a hole punch ✎ I write, I highlight the text with pencils, I also have a refillable black marker for special occasions (I want to try the fountain pens, they seemed pretty eco-friendly to me) ✎ whenever possible I choose local manufacturers of stationery and notebooks - my favorite brand is falafel (diaries, notebooks, pencils etc)
Love yourself enough to set boundaries. Your time and energy are precious. You get to choose how you use it. You teach people how to treat you by deciding what you will and won't accept.
Make every day special. Make every day a celebration. Appreciate the little things in life. Find beauty in your life. Fall in love with nature, fall in love with your passions and things that bring you joy.
We tend to make everything so serious. It’s time to romanticize your life. It’s time to create a fairy tale out of your life. It might seem ridiculous, but when you decide to believe that your life is magical and full of joy, your life will become magical and full of joy. What you focus on always grows, remember.
Start appreciating the little, most insignificant things in your life. Let them bring you happiness, let them become meaningful. You don’t have to live a mediocre life. You can fill your life with wonderful experiences, you can find time for doing things that bring you sheer happiness, you can prioritize your goals and do something every single day to get closer to them.
You’re the one who manages your time. You’re the one who creates your daily schedule. You can fill every day with exciting tasks, and that’s really the first step to changing your reality. When you have the reason to perform a certain task, when you do it with joy and a positive attitude, you automatically raise your vibration. Even mundane tasks can become fun if you approach them with a little bit of creativity.
Your life doesn't have to be dull. It can be a continuous feast of love, joy, gratitude, and amazing moments. You’re the one who’s in charge of your life.

Here’s a really simple thing a lot of messy people never learned: clean people are clean people because they do little household tasks as soon as they need to be done. Messy people? We leave it for some undefined future time, which often ends up being never. It’s much, much easier to wash one meal’s worth of dishes, or put away one load of laundry, or clean off a countertop with only a day’s mess on it than it is to handle those things that have been left for days or weeks or months.
Becoming a less messy person is about doing the little stuff more often. Put everything away when you get home from the store. Clear off the coffee table once a day instead of every few weeks. Over time, those little tasks and habits will become instinctive, and you’ll be on your way to being a recovered messy person. You’ll also find you have no need for intense, whole-house marathon cleans.
If you’re a messy person, you can change. You’ll probably never be an effortlessly neat person, but that’s fine! You’ll be a kinda messy person who cleans up after yourself, and who has a not-messy home. And that’s a great goal to have.
And spare us the comments like, “Who doesn’t know this already?” Lots of us, so hush. If you already know and do this, congratulations on your immaculate home. This advice isn’t meant for you, so feel free to take a seat on the nearest (undoubtedly spotless) chair or couch.
No, taking that shower, eating that meal, cleaning your space, going on that walk or having that conversation won't cure you, but there's a good chance it'll make you less miserable in the moment - and isn't that a fine goal by itself?
When you start to respect yourself, you also start to recognize who doesn’t. Friendships watering down, clashing with people you used to get along with, discovering some relationships/dynamics aren’t for you— it’s all part of growing as a person and realizing what is and isn’t what you want or need. It doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with you or that you’re doing the wrong thing: new habits, new boundaries and a newfound self-respect often require reevaluation.
