We met in Engineering School
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF LE SHAPE?
We made our own boards in a school’s garage and the decoration part with Posca was a real pleasure.
At a party, after some beers, we thought, we’d really like to try the entrepreneurial adventure.
HOW DID YOU MEET EACH OTHER?
We are a father & daughter team that collaborate with engineering companies around the world to find and integrate cutting edge innovations and deliver high tech consumer products to the end consumer. Together we have 55+ years of engineering, marketing and sales experience. We have always had a vision to innovate and better the consumer products industry. New technologies and innovations are entering the market place today at a higher pace than application for those technologies are being produced. That’s where dad and I collaborated to make these technologies a reality and bring them directly into your homes.
My dad, Bobby Bedi has been an electrical & mechanical engineer for 40+ years working with fortune 100 & 500 companies from around the globe. He started his technology applications consultancy, Design HMI LLC, 8+ years ago that takes innovative technologies from around the world and integrates them into actual applications and consumer products. His engineering market reach goes from US to Europe to China to India to Australia… and on.
Last year (2014) Design HMI also launched a Innovations hub called Engineering Well and a product marketing subsidiary Greenlama
I am Gita Bedi and I run the product marketing subsidiary GreenLama – Delivering Innovation. I have worked in marketing and sales for fortune 100 & 500 companies for 13 years. For the past 5 years have been working with startups to bring their products and projects to market successfully.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF THE NANO HEATED?
We are huge coffee and tea drinkers and have always been frustrated with our beverages getting cold within 10mins. With over 50 plus mugs that each one of us have bought over the past few years our frustration had just grew further. SO when Bobby collaborated with AME ( Nano Heat Technology company) we found a solution to the age old issue of our beverages getting cold before the 5th sip. Bobby designed and engineered the mug over the past year.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF WOUFKI
The idea came when I saw my mother looking out for her dog all evening…
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
My biggest challenge was to build the prototype for it to resist water, snow, cold, hot… all bad weather !

We were childhood friends.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF ISET WATCH
We are both passionate by tennis and we wanted launch our start up together.

We all met at university.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF M.MOUSTACHE?
Watching men shoes offer. We didn’t find a single brand specially dedicated for the young thirties, both in the product offer than communication.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF TREE-LABS?
Tree-Labs was born from observing the market : in the industry of audio, most companies subcontract their development to other factories which probably a lot of them do not have an audio expertise and use of the correct materials.
Contrary to our competitors we do not have matury dates, we want the total satisfaction of our ears.
Each of our products goes through several phases until we are completely satisfield by the result.
We met on the Bluetooth speakers marketplace, the offer was not up to the demand.We wanted to propose users a new type of speaker with the purest sound.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
To understand the market and especially the fast adaptation required to stay competitive in the market.
Be present online and on social networks.
And finally, I think our biggest challenge is to build a very important brand image, especially in early stages.
The quality of the product is extremely important for us
HOW DID YOU MEET EACH OTHER?
We met during our studies, in Brest Business School.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF PENN AR BOX?
3 years ago, I went to Cardiff during one year. Big problem: the lack of breton food. My parents sent me breton products by Post Office. Penn ar Box was born.
HOW DID YOU MEET EACH OTHER?
Simon and Eskil met while studying together, and traveling Asia together
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF SOLARTAB?
We first discovered solar chargers while backpacking in Asia and determined they would be practical to use for music festivals. However, the ones we ended up purchasing were poor in size and efficiency, and the product design and battery price were also subpar. That is what helped to spark the idea for Solartab.
HOW DID YOU MEET EACH OTHER?
We met on our university’s solar car team. This was where we first discovered our shared passion for green energy.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF NANOLEAF?
Nanoleaf actually started with the invention of a solar grid. We were looking for a light bulb to go with the product, but couldn’t find one that was as energy efficient as we wanted. So we decided to make our own! We created the world’s most energy efficient light bulb in 2012 with the Nanoleaf One.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF FRUITTIME?
In High School, I wanted a watch with a watermelon design, I didn’t find it, so I created my own watch collection.
I started to work on this project at 17 years old and when the FruitTime website opened, I was 21.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
Find investment for the initial stock. Banks doesn’t finance stocks. Between us, I wonder what they do fund except businesses that require little initial investment. I did a crowdfunding campaign and it was my parents who supported me the most. Nevertheless I couldn’t make exactly the watch I wanted.
Artistoon or “The Montmartre of web” is a platform where you can send your favorite picture, then choose the reproduction style you like, and an artist will create your artwork!

We were neighbours!
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF ARTISTOON?
During a trip with friends to London in the summer of 2009 for the Notting Hill Carnival, and it was while one of our friends was posing for a caricaturist in Camden that we came up with the idea of a website which could offer the same type of artwork. So it was thanks to this friend that the concept originated.
L’Atelier Clothing is a creative workshop gathering creative people and offering several kind of products. Every week, a creation is send to production after being chosen by users. Then, those who voted for the winning product will receive it exclusively and will have a special discount.
HOW DID YOU MEET EACH OTHER?
We were in the same school in Bordeaux. A continued friendship!
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF L'ATELIER CLOTHING
We were both interns and it was not exciting. So we came up with the desire to create something new.
Monkey is a WiFi-enabled chip that allows keyless entry by making your existing intercom smart. You can install Monkey into your intercom in your apartment yourself - there is no need for an electrician or the permission of your landlord.

We know each other since 2005 from university. We noticed that we work well together and decided to found a company one day…there we go!
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF MONKEY?
Our first startup offered bags for receiving parcels in apartment buildings while one is at work. However, we knew that the courier also needs access to the building to make the whole system work. Thus, we came up with the initial idea of monkey. When we noticed that monkey is way cooler than parcel bags, we sold the parcel bag business and focussed completely on monkey.

Edwin’s father is the one that invented the Tim Bird in 1969 (the famous mechanical bird).

HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF OVERTURN?
First we were inspiring by the famous celebration of Fabrizio Ravanelli. Then we added the beautiful values that we love in sport (sharing, respect, joy, fair-play) trying to create an awesome community around what sport has to give us.
Weenect is a connected GPS collar for cats, designed to locate them easily and even to call them!

We (Adrien and Ferdinand) are two childhood friends!
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF WEENECT?
First, we created this beacon to reassure worried parents who let their children having fun outside.
Thanks to our first product, the Weenect Kids, parents are able to locate their children and to call them in case of emergency. Since, we have created beacons for all the family and even pets!
BibeliB Paris is the first French brand of smart and trendy suitcase cover with an integrated tracking system that allows you to identify your luggage in case of loss and so, to return it quickly.
HOW DID YOU GET THE IDEA BIBELIB PARIS ?
I have a background as a security manager for airports in Roissy Charles de Gaulle. When I first saw the process to protect luggage with shrink-wrap, I had the idea to create a solution to protect the luggage itself and what it was carrying!
Today, more than 30 million luggages are lost each year, there is a real need for travelers!
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
Our challenge was to find a scalable business model and to adapt it to consumers and professionals (B to B and B to C)
